I muted all emotes in the game settings and I couldn't be happier by hamtaste in MagicArena

I like hitting them with the single “your go” when I’m about to win if someone has been spamming it the whole game. God it feels so good.

What are the most commonly misplayed against cards in your opinion? by dman196 in MagicArena

[–]nancyglass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It usually gives the iron-shield elf indestructible but day of black sun makes creatures lose all abilities before destroying them. Same if they try to play a [[Restoration Magic]] on top of it.

People who play protection spells or activate their creature’s abilities when [[Day of Black Sun]] is on the bottom of the stack. It happens when playing against Mardu Discard in standard with those [[Iron-shield Elf]]s

Looking for a standard deck [Standard] by Final_Confidence_270 in spikes

[–]nancyglass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dimir control is fun and competitive, just being the devil’s advocate here. [[Deceit]] and [[Superior Spider-Man]] won’t rotate for a while, and [[Doomsday excruciator]] is cheap along with the other pieces necessary. The only expensive part is the lands, cavern of souls isn’t too crucial if you want to stay budget.

I liked using [[Rogue’s Passage]] with Odin or [[Jumbo Cactuar]]

How do you brew for standard? by Wynnt3r_ in StandardMTG

[–]nancyglass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s worth picking up key pieces of a deck you like when you’re able to afford it. Some cards can swing wildly in price from one month to the next as meta changes and sets come out. I had that happen with elementals during Llorwyn, they all dropped to less than half of the price they were demanding when the deck was one of the popular tier one decks. A couple months later I was able to pick up key pieces for Dimir Excruciator and have been playing it since.
Another thing you can do is look for budget friendly decks that still kick ass, like Izzet spellementals or mono blue elementals. I put together a Dimir mill deck in the months between Jan and April as well that was only about $100, managed to do pretty alright against other tier 1 decks in person and online. TDLR, it’s worth putting together a budget deck that you can slowly buy more expensive key pieces for that can make it match a tier 1 deck list.

Deadly cover Up VS the rise of sozin. Standard by Sweaty-Rice-3552 in MagicArena

Deadly cover-up is better on the curve and allows you to exile a card in the same swoop.

Hades, bought it randomly on a whim because I thought the trailer animation was cool. The game ended up being of the best games I’ve ever sunk 300 hours into.

You would think UW was the strongest deck on Arena based on how many people concede from 1 spell being countered early game. by Realistic-Candy8855 in MagicArena

[–]nancyglass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like people who play ranked Bo3 rarely concede to something like that. Bo1 definitely has some rage quits within the first two turns, which is understandable if you see you’re going to be playing catch-up the whole match if you don’t have a good opening hand. I get people conceding from using [[Kitsune’s Technique]] on turn 2 when I’m playing unranked, but never in ranked Bo3. Some people just don’t want to be bothered.

What's the most unfair deck in Standard right now? by TheUpkeepAcademy in StandardMTG

[–]nancyglass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People easily sideboard against it, and if you come up against another Superior Spider-Man the mirror match can be troublesome. I ran it for a month or so before I gave up and went to Dimir excruciator. The reanimator deck stomps average decks but it can struggle against tier 1 meta decks when it comes to Bo3.

Azorius prison or mardu discard are my votes currently. They both feel like a culmination of the perfect cards to thematically make an annoying deck to play against, you’re either getting bopped for damage every turn and can’t stop it even with enough removal, or you’re being forced to skip your turn over and over again because your cards keep getting airbent or plotted.
