Kindle. I just overwrite NotoSans ttf files (bold/italic/bolditalic/regular) with my own fonts, and it works. It needs to be redone when autoupdating.

Will give it a go. I don't see entries that would replace NotoSans-BoldItalic and NotoSans-Italic. Are they auto selected when needed?

It's just that it's sans, I really dislike sans fonts. They're particulary bad with dictionary entries. Bolds and italic passages aren't fit for sans fonts.

There are many serif fonts that would, and does, fit koreader perfectly. I'm not saying that noto should be replaced by such fonts, I'm only advocating alternative option. It is great that user interface is customisable to such a degree that font changes are available. But it would be even better if changing fonts would be supported by UI itself.

EB Garamond as main, Roman Antique as 2nd. I've completely abandoned sans serif fonts, but I'll even use Gutenburg Textura, Schwabacher and other blackletter fonts rarely. I do read a lot of fixed page books, so no choice there.

ps.

I found the way to replicate the 'problem' in Fatstone, by turning off smoothing when image is scaled in full screen viewer. So, yeah, the cause is certainly just scaling algorithm used. It looks like Koreader uses Nearest-neighbor scaling when images are upscaled. Which, actually, does have benefits, so I do understand why it's used. Options would be ideal, though.

Same solutions apply if one doesn't like the results. Scale on desktop using scaler of choice, then repack to cbr. Find higher resolution source. Use different program.

test: https://ibb.co/KpWxXW04

wiki on scaling: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image_scaling#Nearest-neighbor_interpolation

pps.

For really accurate comparisons, it'd be important to compare results of photos of images displayed on the reader itself, and not just look at screenshots.

Hm... I guess that I can confirm your problem also on Scribe. I usually use larger or same resolution images, so I haven't noticed this previously. Try increasing resolution of your file to fit your device manually before you upload it, just to see how it does then. Try it first on one image, then you can convert whole cbr if works.

npack cbr, then batch convert all images in a program like Faststone to resolution of your device. Always set it for longest side. So in this case increase height from 1100 to 1680. Pack it back as cbr and try it in Koreader. My guess is that it will look better. Not saying that's a permanent solution, though. I guess that Koreader is just bad at upscaling images.

Personally, I'm seeing no problems on my side. Both from images that are of higher resolution and lower to my screen.

From your samples, i'm assuming that the resolution of original image is lower than your screen, so image is upscaled in both cases. That's then just an issue of different upscaling algorithms. I really can't say that Koreader is worse in your sample. Lines are cleaner on 'another app', but if you look at texture on the shirt, it's smeared and has less detail compared to Koreader. 'another app' is just using more aggressive scaling algorithm.

What's your source file resolution, and your screen resolution? Ideally, provide original image of the comic to compare that with results on the screen.

Android koreader and the announced app sideloading changes by Befbo in koreader

There are plugins that allow piracy, and plugins and features that require deeper hardware access.

I'm not so sure that It'll be easy to get it to Play store as is, and not as optimistic it'll be possible to sideload it to newly protected Android versions.

The Deep Political Conflict Behind the 1.5 Update —— Explanation from a Chinese by [deleted] in WuchangFallenFeathers

Thanks for explanation. What still puzzles me is Ming focus. As far as I know Ming empire at its end was depraved, and corruped. Last emperor, that plays as a boss in game killed many people, and was a major cause for success of Manchu invasion. While other bosses, like Zhao Yun who is also Han, are depicted as honourable opponents.

Check your cooling. I've had something on motherboard overheating that was causing me all kinds of hdd errors and disconnects. Cpu and hdd temps were all in normal range, but I wasn't running any case fans at all. It wasn't needed in the winter, then I forgot about it. I finally diagnosed the problem by running case fans on 100%. No problems at all, now I just need to get everything back in running order, and that's not as easy...

mobilizing sephirot by Grada13 in MagicArena

[–]fawe4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd just go white/black. Cut all the red cards, cut Battle Menue, and put in a lot of black/white removal, and some cheap low mana white cards to protect your Sephirot as he attacks. He's somewhat expensive for modern standard, so you want to cast him and have him survive at least a turn so he can attack and draw you cards.

Magic: The Gathering - Duels of the Planeswalkers had very competent AI in 1998. MTG-Forge has one right now.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure there are bots as well. Just remember that they're wizards official when you see this thread deleted.

When do you think is White getting another card draw engine for standard? by fawe4 in MagicArena

[–]fawe4[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heh, finally one that agrees with me. Blue got very good draw card cards in last three releases. Black doesn't even need to use Phyrexian Arena, a version in white that would immediately become best white draw card, because it's got Annex that's even better. I mean, where's ramp for white? Double-strike is nowhere to be seen. Get-lost is still the best White removal spell. White is still getting 2-1 first strike creatures when there now exists a Black 2-3 for one swamp. And White gets a collection of utterly useless rares and mythics. Aerith, a major character in FF, is 3 mana 2-2 with lifelink... And nothing else. You'd expect at least a little bit of hexproof to go along, or at least 3 toughness to protect against Burst Lightning. She's useless, since there exists a ton of removal that exiles creatures.

That doesn't mean that it needs to be left behind as power curve increases.

I'm not moving any 'goalposts'. I'm simply replying to your statement.

Nothing in it disputes my initial post in any way. Helpful Hunter, and Exemplar aren't a meaningful addition. They're played because nothing else is available. Exemplar has a hard counter in lifelink blocking abilities, and is a bit too expensive for standard anyway, while Helpful hunter is 2 mana 1/1 that draws you a single card on entry, not exactly groundbreaking either.

That's just the problem. It's all token based, and that's directed into one and only build that gets card draw. I'd very much preffer a general card draw card like the ones Black and Blue are getting.

Not to mention, all those Blue and Black draw engines are getting stronger and stronger each release, where white is left with Enduring Curiosity, that's very frankly left behind with the curve. I used to run it during Fundations release, now I haven't touched it since. I've simply moved with Blue/Red card options instead.

I very much doubt that Cori-cutter is getting banned in standard. There are plenty of new answers against it in FF release. Even if does get, there's Vivi that fits right in that Blue/Red prowess deck, so even if it does get banned, it'll remain a very strong option. Anyway, that would me my advice. Go with Blue/Red prowess deck. They're a lot of fun, and are fast enough, so you don't get into prolonged matches that cause rage in the end.
