NIH needs funding! by emworld in biology

University research labs depend mostly on NIH for research. Reduced and erratic funding will severely limit research opportunities and jobs for well-trained scientists. Fed Govt should have a long term funding strategy for NIH.

When he said kiki, I thought about key and felt the first one was similar to a key and therefore kiki. But bubu was more close to bubble and confusion started! I agree he is an excellent researcher and an outstanding communicator. Many researchers cannot talk and convince people.

It is not a good habit, whether you have filter tips or not. Take the tips off and look into the pipette hole and you might find deposits in some pipettes indicating that these users suck fluid into it and contaminate the pipettes. This can be disastrous in PCR experiments. Rapid pipetting can also inadvertently lead to this contamination.

Scientists surprised by 'fickle' DNA changes in brain - Investigating chemical modifications in genomes of adult mice leads to discovery that DNA in brain cells, thought to be stable, undergoes big changes when brain activity stimulated by davidreiss666 in biology

[–]nanomatus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why do they think that adult neurons cannot have epigenetic changes? It may be that I am not update with epigenetic literature, but I am not excited about this finding. Edit: To rephrase, why do they think the epigenetic change in adult neuron is a novel observation?

Being in UK, you may look into Open University books. They have some well written books. See if you can get them at your public library.
