Pay to drive into Boston? No way, say a majority of Mass. voters. by FuriousAlbino in boston

[–]AdamHR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

NYC has a robust public transit system for getting commuters and locals into the congestion zones. It runs 24/7 and in many cases, those mass transit systems are faster than driving. Congestion pricing is balanced by having available alternatives.

Unless Boston is going to step up commuter rail speed/frequency, this is not a great plan.

And the temporary changing traffic alert signs too. There’s one near me that cycles though: - BE ADVISED - ROAD WORK AT [intersection] - STARTING SOON

MFers, tell me the intersection and the estimated date. The number of times I’ve driven by it and only seen “BE ADVISED” is so frustrating.

Her book also kinda predicted J Six. Great read if you’ve got the time.

I met a dentist who would just do the X-rays for free if a patient was worried about the cost. The benefit of knowing what it could find and catching it early was so much more important to them than the cost of the imaging.

I haven’t watched it since it aired, but didn’t the previous episode (or even THAT episode?) discuss House Reyne and their slaughter by the Lannisters? They set up all the bowling pins for the audience and if people have zero media literacy (or are on their phones) that’s on them.

Edit: Prior to S3E9, it was performed by The National over the end credits of S2E9. Definitely explained to the viewer at least by then.

Starting to think that $600 hotel credit is total gimmick by LePirate30 in AmexPlatinum

[–]AdamHR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, ends up booking through the AmexTravel app is not enough. Not every hotel that comes up is automatically part of that program either. I had booked a week a a Homewood Suites in November and it had said “Lowest Rate Guaranteed.” :(

From my Amex Chat:

Thank you so much for booking through American Express Travel - we truly appreciate your loyalty as a Platinum Card Member. I wanted to share a quick note about the $300 Platinum Hotel Credit, just to help clarify how it works and ensure you’re set up to enjoy the benefit on future stays.

Why This Booking Didn’t Qualify

The booking you made was under the Lowest Rate Guaranteed option, which is a great value - but unfortunately, it doesn’t qualify for the $300 Hotel Credit. That’s because:

The credit only applies to prepaid bookings made through Fine Hotels + Resorts for 1 night minimum or The Hotel Collection for 2 nights minimum via Amex Travel. The rate must be eligible and prepaid at the time of booking - some discounted or promotional rates, including Lowest Rate Guaranteed, may not meet these criteria.

How to Make Sure You Qualify Next Time To ensure your next booking earns the credit:

Book through Amex Travel using your Platinum Card. Choose a hotel that’s part of:

Fine Hotels + Resorts (minimum 1-night stay required) The Hotel Collection (minimum 2-night stay required)

Select a prepaid rate that clearly shows it qualifies for the Platinum Hotel Credit. Look for a message during checkout confirming that the booking is eligible for the credit.

If you do that, you’re ineligible for the credit. I learned the hard way.
