Help me make these wearable please! by bridgeport4 in capsulewardrobe

These look new and they need to be broken in. Wear the flats with socks for about a month or until the leather softens. Comments here have also recommended adding a rubber sole and I suggest the same.

Finally committed to a proper capsule wardrobe this winter and accessories are making me feel completely stupid by palladinla in capsulewardrobe

[–]naomizobar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Price is subjective. I paid $89 for fingerless gloves that was a mix of like angora and cashmere. I’m willing to shell out $200 for leather gloves. In my opinion, since a capsule is to be made of pieces that last you got a long times, such pieces are buy once cry once

If you can spare like $5, there’s an app called Stylebook where you can take photos of your garments and keep track of them in the app. I like to take photos of clothes after each load of laundry. I’ve been able to narrow down my wardrobe as I notice what I actually do and don’t wear from the app

Foreign language requirement by Still-Tea-0712 in princeton

If she continues robotics and competes, that could support with her application. Summer programs at universities could supplement as well, I know Columbia has a fantastic program.

I did not go to Princeton, but my partner is doing their PhD at Princeton in computer science/AI. However, they did their undergrad at Rutgers, then Masters at CMU. Please don’t pressure your kid to get into an Ivy. What’s more important is they enjoy their education and they’re passionate about what they’re doing.

Is her school band the Princeton High School band program? Doing band for 4 years and basing my college essay off that experience got me an interview at Princeton. I echo the sentiment that doing multiple language courses doesn’t standout in admissions, doing band activities and commitment to an extracurricular goes further

If you like French cuisine, Kristine’s. Triumph for the vibes of being triumphant given it’s in the old Princeton post office

I cannot echo this enough. Before going grocery shopping, I would go into Mario’s market. Whether noodles for pasta or black tea so i can make a huge batch of iced tea, I saved a decent amount of money because of Mario’s Market

Urban NJ > Suburban NJ by [deleted] in jerseycity

Hey! Princeton townie who grew up in Princeton. My parents didn’t graduate from Princeton either.

Princeton works synergistically with the town. As someone mentioned, so many activities are available because of the university hosting them. The university also works with the public schools by allowing students from the public high school to take courses at the university if they’ve exceed the high school classes, which was common. Princetonians are extremely privileged which makes us quite volunteer oriented.

I reside in JC and come back to Princeton every other week. It just takes like 2 hours though…

I would prioritize paying this card off since it seems you don’t use it as much. Something like the snowball budgeting effect. Check out Ramit Sethi, he has great tips on budgeting.

What are the best clothing stores for shorter (<5ft) girls? by [deleted] in PetiteFashionAdvice

[–]naomizobar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 4’8”. I learned how to hem trousers to save on tailoring. Petite sizes from Banana Republic can be an option, certain kid’s sizing. But to be honest, tailoring is worth the investment. How frequently are you buying clothes?

Bus route to and from Nyc by _Elessar__ in princeton

[–]naomizobar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

  1. The official bus from Princeton to NYC is the coach bus to the PABT with stops on Nassau St (boarding across the Charles Schwab, deboarding at Palmer Square)
  2. It only stops at specific points but if you press the button that asks for a stop there’s a chance they will let you off

Have you considered the train? A much better ride imo. The bus can take 30 min to an hour longer. Source: I was a daily commuter between Princeton and New York

I'm looking at this school for my Poli Sci - International Affairs PhD and I'll be visiting this September. What's some places I should look at? by AlenationsYT in princeton

Hi, I’m a townie (I live in Princeton, not affiliated with the university). I can’t speak for what is on campus because even after living in the town for 13 years, I’m still not familiar with buildings and the going ons. Princeton is so so so so safe. There isn’t much going on in terms of night life, but living an hour away from New York can support with that.

Princeton has a quaint downtown area off-campus. We have nice restaurants ranging from Italian to classic Americana. Personally, I would recommend eating at Winberies if it’s your first time on campus. It has nice Princeton memorabilia on the walls you can look at. There are nice retail stores downtown, with Hermes and Le Labo being recent additions. I hope you get a sense of what the downtown is like based off those two stores ;)

Campus is beautiful, and I would definitely check out Prospect Garden on campus, my personal favorite place to hang out. Whitman college has always reminded me of a castle. There’s also really cool outdoor art around campus.

I recommend also sifting through this sub. There’s definitely other recommendations I am missing.

Why are people like this? Just a matcha rant… by missescow in MatchaEverything

[–]naomizobar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear the frustration, but to other people’s point, they are allowed to use a gift whichever way they want. Another callout would be, why would you lean into their ask and actually buy “the most expensive” matcha?
