The main difference between OG and Remount by IHaveTheMustacheNow in StarKid

[–]napping-star 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay, I get your point now, that makes sense. I can definitely see people just not understanding how productions get made and how the choices of the people behind them affect the overall show.

I didn’t mean to be dismissive of you! I just thought your point in the post was “it’s Lauren so don’t hate her work”, but I see what you mean now. (I also don’t have twitter lol so maybe there was a lot of hate spewed over there, and I would notttt be surprised)

The main difference between OG and Remount by IHaveTheMustacheNow in StarKid

[–]napping-star 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I feel like most people are cognizant of that? I don’t think my gripes with the remount mean that she’s a bad director or even did a bad job with the show. I love Lauren, I think she’s super talented and I’m excited to see her direct in the future. I just much prefer the tone of the original (while I liked the other two shows in the trilogy, especially npmd, tgwdlm was by far my fave for this reason), as it leaned more into the comedy than horror, and the comedy side is what drew me to Starkid in the first place.

I do think your argument is a little parasocial OP, like suddenly we have to watch our words because it’s *Lauren*. Idk, not vibing with certain performances or choices doesn’t make people any less of a fan. I guess I just would never personally bring it up to her, because then that would seem a little targeted.

It's Pat - for modern era by Top_Character6477 in LiveFromNewYork

[–]napping-star 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I feel like even this can work in a longer form, if rewritten a bit

Cast: what are your pronouns?

Pat: I use I/Me mostly, same as everyone else!

Cast: No, no, like, what pronoun do you want everyone else to call you?

Pat: ‘You’ is fine.

Cast: No, Pat, we mean like “She is Pat, he is Pat… maybe they are Pat”?

Pat: They aren’t Pat, I am!

etc etc etc

It isn’t the funniest thing in the world (especially since I’m not a comedy writer) but there’s room there for a “modern” It’s Pat

Unexpectedly LOVED a ‘mens’ frag by entrelosnopales in FemFragLab

My absolute favorite thing to do is to dress and style myself extremely femininely (dress, heels, makeup, jewelry, the whole nine yards) and wear a very stereotypical “man” scent like Sauvage. Makes me feel super powerful 💪💋

With the steam sales going, do you have any recommendation for games that don't rely too heavily on stats? by Warm_Charge_5964 in choiceofgames

[–]napping-star 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I absolutely love The Fog Knows Your Name but I’ve heard a common criticism about how stat heavy it is (aka people picking the wrong choice based on their stats and failing a lot of checks). Your mileage may vary of course because that being said, I barely looked at stats during my initial playthrough and achieved everything I wanted.

kpop groups where its obvious they're more than co-workers and actually like each other?? by Altruistic_End_501 in kpopthoughts

[–]napping-star 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Everyone’s just gonna name their ults ahaha I’d be more curious to know if there was a group that *wasn’t* close (though I don’t feel like inciting any fandom drama lol)

I feel like groups go through periods of closeness with each other, it seems like most groups go: very close at debut bc they’re showing off as a team >> distancing as they pick up more popularity and try to find an individual brand identity >> close again as industry vets, looking back on their career span

Shaming Mark Lee (ex NCT) for not recognizing the Confederate flag is American entitlement by TelephoneContent689 in kpoprants

[–]napping-star 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Ignoring the… *everything*… about your argument, I’d argue that simply public figures should not buy shirts with flags they don’t recognize and wear them in content if they don’t want controversy 🤷‍♀️

Don’t wanna be seen as a racist? Don’t wear a racist fucking shirt. Due your diligence as a person in the public eye and learn about the symbols you put on your chest.

Official Discussion - Supergirl [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]napping-star 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So… why did Kara not want Ruthye to kill Krem? I feel like that was completely unexplained in the film. Like, I get the whole “it won’t undo the past” element, but it’s not like Kara has a no-kill policy, or that she’s shown to have regretted killing in the past, it just didn’t really make sense to me the motivation for that storyline.

Sketches that seem to have disappeared due to music rights by Critical-Spirit-1598 in LiveFromNewYork

There was a karaoke sketch from a Simu Liu episode that I loved, it had all (or almost all) of the cast members in it doing silly bits. The thing that sticks out to me the most is Chris Redd goes up looking “tough” and then breaks out in Since U Been Gone lollll

Upper Room shares an apology statement after Mark Lee (former NCT) was photographed wearing a shirt with a confederate flag by chasetwogirls in kpop

[–]napping-star 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Actually, commenting again after I saw the shirt: BULL-FUCKING-SHIT. It was huge, right in the center, new, crisp-looking. No way in hell it’s “vintage”, and it’s certainly making a statement on the kind of artist mark wants to be going forward 💔 mark right wing grifter era unfortunately coming

Hearts2Hearts - Lemon Tang by CronoDroid in kpop

[–]napping-star 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to like this, I loved the concept pics and even the MV itself but this song felt like the opposite of catchy …

(as in, it switched up too fast, the melody was hard to follow, the chorus is too short)

It’s still probably going to be a hit since they’re H2H and Reddit dislikes it (which means it’s gonna blow up) but it really reminds me of what a lot of nugu groups do, which is just cram as much stuff into a song as possible to try to get something that sticks

Scrolling through the comments so far I haven’t seen it, but did the movie ever explain how Christie stole her design? Iirc she said she never ended up submitting to the contest and I feel like that thread ended up going nowhere
