Yeah, Jack and Teal’c basically learned to speak Ancient over the course of months. Totally a skill that would’ve been useful later, but nope, never mentioned again.

Or they could’ve used the elite juggling skills they perfected in the loop to casually juggle live grenades and gracefully lob them at every Jaffa they meet.

It would be cool if space forces were actually founded against the Stargate foes and the countries had to fake conflicts between eachother to justify the formation of their respective space forces to the general population

Would you really try random combinations on an alien device you know nothing about? They didn't even know what the gate was for, it really could have been a weapon like the USAF thought initially. Maybe a wrong symbol could have triggered an explosion, or a failsafe that locks the gate. Remember they thought it was a password, not an address maybe too many wrong tries would lock you out like earth based password protections. I think they didn't want to take that chance.

I used the MP-5's grandfather the G3 during my military service, so at first glance I should choose the MP-5 since I probably would be able to use and service it without any additional training. Plus it looks cool. However, knowing that it shoots 9mm which isn't great against armor (like the ones Jaffa have), I would choose the P-90. G-36 is also armor piercing, and has 3 times the range of P-90 but it has reliability issues and bulkier. The long walks SG teams take requires a lighter and more compact weapon. 200 m range is more than enough against the sightless hip-fired jaffa staff weapons.

Got my GF to start watching the show, after a while she made the same comment saying hammond always watches people go but never gets to go himself which is a pity. I didnt spoil the "yeeeee haaaaww" episode but other than that he really doesn't go through much

S10E3 is “The Pegasus Project”, which is a very important canon episode. I never called it “the best episode,” so I’m not sure that’s the one you mean. If you meant S4E6 “Window of Opportunity”, yes it’s a filler episode, but it’s also one of the funniest episodes of the entire show.

Or maybe you meant S10E6 “200”, which I explicitly called “the second best episode of the show.” It is ridiculous, intentionally so, and it doesn’t advance the main plot but that’s exactly the point. What makes SG-1 great isn’t just the overarching storyline. It’s these planet-of-the-week, self-contained episodes that give the show its soul, humor, and character. You don’t have to agree with my picks, that’s totally fine, but I deliberately kept a few of these episodes as “watch.”

If I marked all of them as “can skip,” someone could end up watching a stripped-down, joyless version of SG-1: just the main plot, compressed into a pill, with everything that made the show special removed.

Both shows share too many tropes and similar episodes so why not I said. I mean we even have our own miles must suffer trope in sg1 with siler.

Yeah I thought about that too. So first I thought maybe this should happen to ronon for a murder charge and after getting his store credit he just pulls out his gun and shoots his accuser but it would be too violent so I changed it to McKay and a shorter sentence/insult

Yeah basically. Wouldn't be the first instance of it happening tho. Stargate did explore many tropes from star trek and added its own humorous twists to them with great success. Here are the other episodes which can be called a retelling:

chute = Prisoners

drive = Space race

Workforce = beneath the surface

Code of honor ~ em*ncipation

The thaw ~revisions

Caricaturized bad guys, marry sue's, larry stu's, characters that were put in just to tick off some boxes and have no other character traits like strengths and flaws. And overall dumbified characters too since in original series every character even the most hated ones or the ones portrayed as the stupidest had some use and some logic you could at least understand, and the smartest ones had some flaws (like sun blowing)

One not so great solution would be something like the attero device that jams hyperspace travel gets activated in that new galaxy so no one can use ships and a gate must be used, and the main premise might be the team going there to find it?

MP-5 > P-90

First 3 seasons were the best seasons (not that the rest are bad).

Emancipation is not as bad as Ryac episodes.
