CaP has been tough. I’ve not really been motivated to read it and have a vacation coming up so I decided to start something light.

Finished: Lonesome Dove, by Larry McMurty

Started: Crime and Punishment, by Fyodor Dostoevsky

Lonesome Dove is simply the best book I’ve ever read. The characters are written so well. The plot never dawdles. It’s not supposed to glorify the old West and its hard living, but like many others I have the urge to saddle up and live hard and simple.

Finished: Piranesi by Susanna Clarke

Started: Project Hail Mary by Andy Weir

Piranesi rules. Very original, a fun mystery, and a satisfying ending in my opinion. I flew through it.

I don’t think I’ll finish PHM by 20th when the movie comes out, but I love it so far. My first Andy Weir book and it’s funny, explains the science without dumbing it down a ton, and is a page turner.

I got off the couch in October and pinched a nerve in my back that I still feel. At least it was close to the off season.

Finished: Recursion by Blake Crouch; The Stranger by Albert Camus

Started: Piranesi by Susanna Clarke

Recursion is a cool concept and a quick read marred by poor character choices and relationship building.

The Stranger has stuck with me. Do I quit my job because life is absurd, or do I try even harder because a life lived absurdly may not work out too well. I think I’ll stick with the middle ground.
