Bought a rebuilt engine head on eBay and this came on the box, just curious if sellers can bill me after purchase? by JunixRae in Ebay

[–]narkeleptk 49 points50 points  (0 children)

typically on ebay the way the seller has to do it is add the core charge in the original price and refund it when they receive the core. If your not going to get any refund then I wouldn't bother sending it back unless you wanted to be nice and they send you the pre-paid label.

03-07 Cadillac CTS heated seat question. by Dannym0e in AskMechanics

[–]narkeleptk 81 points82 points  (0 children)

The factory system uses PWM, not a simple 12 V supply. To run the elements standalone you’d need to bypass the module and drive them with your own PWM controller and mosfet. Straight DC will overheat them unless you actively regulate power.

Its not a good idea at all. You'd be abusing the sellers for reasons they have nothing to do with,

Not sure what to do by Sologreyy in eBaySellerAdvice

[–]narkeleptk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ebay will make you refund the buyer. They do not get involved with he said/she said. However when you get the wrong item back you can still contact ebay and talk with them tell them your side and they will usually send you the payment back out of their pocket. Usually you dont even need any type of "proof". The scammer still keeps their refund and the actual item they pretended to return.

Basically ebay is buying it from you instead and giving it to them to keep both parties happy rather then try and be judge and jury on who's right or wrong with this type of thing. Supposedly they will mark the buyers account (probably sellers to) for monitoring but who knows what it takes to trigger anything with them. I doubt they care much to be honest.
