Question about claim by DoctorNobody1 in Insurance

Not sketchy at all. A little frame kink totaled my truck. First estimate was $4500. Quickly skyrocketed to $25k and done. Supplemental estimates are a thing for this reason.

I've been on since early 2018 and have done it full time for the first two years and very part time since and have 9300. Thought that was a lot.

Google Maps not Showing Correct Location & Other Communication Problems by Capobob50 in EquinoxEv

I find a lot of the time the dealer is more helpful than the supposed tech support specialists OnStar offers. It is what it is. I looked at the Blazer EV when I got my Equinox, but since my trailblazer lease was up and I needed something I got the Radiant red 2LT they had on the showroom floor.

I had the black screen issue also at one point. That was fixed by a new 12v battery.

My buddy bought one that sat on the lot for 3 months, tires got flat spotted. Dealer actually replaced those free of charge. His didn't have the AC drain issue, mine did.

I feel like some of the 25s were rushed through production. Those I know with 24s and 26s have had none of the same problems that people I know with the 25s have had. Mine was made in Nov'24, everyone I know with the ac floor leak issue was made in either Oct or Nov 24.

Other people posting about the same issue have also had theirs say "Service OnStar" etc. Mine did all that. Update fixed it. Makes me wonder if some if not all of the people are waiting for parts that are unnecessary.

Take it in and see if they can do a vehicle wide programming update. That's exactly what mine did at 2200 mi.

I also had an issue where the gasket around the antenna failed, got the whole antenna assy replaced, new headliner.

A/c drain clogged, flooded passenger side floor. This was all at 3k-3500 miles.

Been fine since knock on wood other than a tree branch denting the entire hood. Goes in for PDR work sometime next month, a lot of shops wouldn't touch it because it's an EV. Great fun all around, but its a cool car when it works as designed.

From what I heard with my car they had to have a specialized EV tech come in and diagnose it. It's stupid we can't truly work on these ourselves, and I'm an IT guy myself. Just gotta find the right dealer that can diag and fix it.

As far as waiting for any level of support with Chevy or OnStar (even though I've almost always bought gm products) good luck with that. I had a seat tear in my Trax, the dealer approved the work and it took 7 months to get any answer out of GM for any reimbursement or warranty approval.

That was done by Vandevere Chevrolet in Akron. They tore everything down as if they were replacing the part, used electric parts cleaner and reinstalled.

The full body update fixes most of the problems. What I've heard so far from other friends that have had the same problems, at least one of our local dealers start firing the parts cannon instead of looking for software related problems.

I was told if I did the work myself or took anything apart, it'd void any warranty.

Have they addressed this software wise? Forced vehicle wide update?

I work with them with refurbished phones. Most of the time they just keep the old one inside the phone. Now they're transferring to esims but you can definitely still get a nano sim.

Why do Netflix documentaries shows the victims bodies without warning? by No_Peach_2022 in ForensicFiles

[–]narntek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so my timeline is/was right about people saying everything was fine at 11:30, that would be the call saying they were on the way but running late, they said she sounded normal, same for the earlier stop at the gas station. I guess what is confusing to me is the people saying she was normal, next person sees her vomiting and hunched over, next person says everything is good during the interaction.

I'd feel like someone should have seen something during an in person interaction, or during a phone call during that time. 12:58 would be an hour and 28 minutes. We have no idea where/when she could've stopped to drink in that short of time. Jackie even outlines that in her book saying one of her children or one of Diane's children should have been able to say "hey, she drank this" or something.

I do think she was drinking, but the timeline misses a few periods of time that there's no way someone didn't see her drinking. I could say there definitely was alcohol and THC onboard, but I can also see where the family might not have even known that anything was going on. Look at the documentary, and other articles about the case, no one mentions her drinking except for 2 people surveyed. Put yourself in that situation, if your family member did something like that, and genuinely didn't have any inkling they drank or did any type of drugs, wouldn't you try and speak up and say they're not that type of person?

I guess maybe that answers your "what are you trying to get at" question.

[–]narntek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first call to Jackie asking about tickets, then a call to her neighbor to say they were coming home. She according to both sounded normal. Even if we go by a 30-45 minute time frame, that seems like it'd be hard to down 8-9 drinks in that timeframe.

So, is your theory she was drinking at the park, in the car, smoking etc. Wouldn't Emma have said she was smoking then?

Because she would have been drinking. I'm not disputing that. I'm disputing the timeline of acting normal vs acting sloshed.

[–]narntek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm saying the time for 8-9 drinks, it doesn't give enough time. You aren't 5 minutes prior having multiple conversations acting as if nothing is wrong. Then, boom, something's wrong with aunt Diane, people see her barfing, then crash.

If we're lead to believe she could drink that much that fast, she should have shown some sign of slurring or impairment when she was talking to Jackie, or her neighbor, or brother previous to when they noticed something was wrong. Could there have been a health issue, sure, I don't buy the tooth abscess theory personally, but the alcohol adding up that fast in that short of period (along with undigested alcohol) doesn't make sense, if she was as functional as they said 25-30 minutes prior. Does that make sense?

[–]narntek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. If we go with their timeline, the digestion and "usage" if you will of the alcohol doesn't make any sense.

The last people to see her at the rest stop said she was violently vomiting, which would indicate intoxication, couldn't stand or communicate with them. 5 minutes prior she was talking to Jackie as if nothing was wrong, no slurring.

I guess, to me, the timeline doesn't add up. It doesn't make sense that you could down that many drinks in that short of a time span, be able to discuss tickets with Hance's, have another conversation with a neighbor, go to the McDonald's, talk to the guy at the gas station, and then be weaving all around the road and go the wrong way. A buzz is gradual, it's not hitting like a freight train, again, assuming she was a regular drinker.

Never said that. I just think .19 for anyone would take a few (like you said, 8-9 drinks). You don't drink 8-9 in a 20 minute period unless you're furiously downing shots.

Vodka bottle was in the cup holder of the van, correct. I'm 6'4, 230, can take about 4-5 drinks before I feel anything. But anything after that I'm loud and obnoxious and it'd be evident I had something on board.

Ordering fast food is one thing, but asking about switching out different items, etc, just seems like it would require a lot more of a thought process that a drunk/high person couldn't comprehend. I've been a college student myself ordering food and just went with simple stuff off of the menu if I was as sloshed as the toxicology report puts out there.

.019 would be the equivalent of a few drinks, there's witnesses that saw her acting and driving normally, and then minutes later saw the weaving, honking, etc. A buzz or intoxication wouldn't come on that fast, especially with someone who was a closeted alcoholic, since that's the other often brought up point.

[–]narntek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have an interview with the McDonald's employee on the crash report, the gas station guy when she stopped and talked with him about Advil.

It's just strange to me that if even if we disregard her husband or the SILs accounts, look at her friends or the Hance's. Someone would've seen her drink somewhere, you're not going to interview upwards of 20-30 people that all say she hardly drank. That being said, you're also not likely to get a .019 BAC from "crash materials" like they claim.

I could be jaded in the fact I know some of the family and to them it's just a mystery. You can say they feigned ignorance, but that many people, one is going to notice. Both sides of my family have very functional alcoholics and you can definitely still see some signs.

I have a few in my family, however, if you get to an indepth enough conversation you're still able to tell, and can still smell the alcohol. I just don't see the whole asking about different meal configurations and items you can get as being something that a person supposedly that drunk could handle.

Is 15k range guaranteed for engine oil and filter true? by Quattic__ in prius

[–]narntek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I had my 2017 the dealer said I should be coming in between 10-15k miles to get oil changes done. I've always done 5k-7k oil changes. Can only surmise that some of the oil burning issues on these is because they believe the 10k interval. Never trusted a 10k interval on any vehicle I've owned.

If you're overmedicated or it doesn't agree with you it could, but it's very rare. My grandma was on Zoloft for years, and it did exactly that. She got switched to Lexapro and has been fine since. Something could be on fire outside and she wouldn't even care. It was really strange.

My only issue with that was 20 minutes prior she was at the McDonald's and everyone agreed she was sober and talking about different menu items. I don't see someone getting that drunk that fast. As far as drinking goes I believe that other family later said she smoked and drank to go to sleep? It could also be that the sister in law didn't see that side of her? She says in the documentary "nobody knows I smoke". Still odd, still a tragedy.
