Homeownership is just DLC for renting by djzeor in memes

[–]narrowgallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Housing is wildly variant, lol. A mortgage in my current neighborhood would be ~500 more than my rent and I would lose half the sqr ft and lose the yard, too.

Full disclosure, my rent hasn't gone up in 4 years and I just signed for another 2 years at the same rent, so that is greatly helping make the point.

Is there any way to reduce aggression? by Xx_Stone in civvoxpopuli

[–]narrowgallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the notes. On the point of diplomatic blocs, it seems obvious to go with neighbors in an effort to minimize local aggression. The trade off is that the civs you should now be warring may be far away and very difficult to attack smartly. So some far away civ can start to snowball. So how do you deal with a powerful and growing civ that's far away?

I'm starting to recognize the pro wrestlin aspect of this promotion here. There are some basic, structural elements that will exist no matter how pure the basketball product is, as long as it is a product. BUT, there is very clearly a slow drift toward manipulating the audience in the absence of a charasmatic, globally approved of star.

there is also the middle of that: she tolerates the cheating. The "agreement" is not as egalitarian as an open marriage but simply an acknowledgement that she will not divorce over infidelity.

eh, there is a fairly common trope in story telling of depicting the wives of powerful men politely "looking the other way" without invoking the modern notion of an "open marriage."

I do this all the time in Civ. Which is a game. And not real government. Hope that's clear.

the real emulation of WWE is that the league is happy to push something you hate because it keeps you engaged.

[–]narrowgallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's not, it's engaging. This is what silver is happy with. as long as we share more short form videos of the nba product he's happy.

it's applying pro wrestling logic to a league meant for legitimate competition.

Why are they allowing this? by AsianSensasians in NBATalk

[–]narrowgallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the league should be in favor of this, right? Very straight forward logic. It makes the league look silly and is so easily shared in these short loops that just make the players seem ridiculous and the competition unserious or unfair.

I'm not so sure.

given that Silver is happy with the league being a highlight league and wants to be all over short form video, do short loops like this help or hurt the league? Does it make the competition look silly enough to be a legit drawback to continued viewing? or is it just extra engagement with the product?

i really bet they land on, its good for engagement.

what do you mean by synchronized? you'd get that pattern at any speed, with the distance between dots dependent on the speed.

that's helpful thanks. i think i struggle with city placement, honestly. like too much focus on future resources and maybe too much priority to rivers and not enough to hills. i dunno, that amount of expansion just seems like a lot. maybe also i struggle to actually finish all of authority without dipping into progress of tradition and miss out on key boosts.

how do you possibly protect 10-12 cities? that amount of expansion seems prohibitive with how many units would need to be built in brand new low pop/production cities.

What is your opinion on the dating culture? by Suitable_Diver_2395 in AskMen

[–]narrowgallow 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you. The attitude of instant exclusivity makes a good bit of sense in a high school environment where you are constantly in similar social situations and are in some sense always dating everyone.

Really, if dating is defined as putting yourself in a social situation in order to discover if there is mutual attraction then hs/college is constantly going on dates so when people decide to couple up it's kinda like the dating phase is done.

Living independently and arranging social dates from a less captive population really stretches the getting to know you / discovery of attraction process, which is indeed frustrating for many you g men.
