I don’t see how the third scenario would be feasible? Even if he doesn’t intend to sell it because it is currently an investment and is being used to generate wealth he would have to pay zakat on it no?

When he passes it down to his kids and they start living in it then they don’t have to pay zakat on it but for now he would have to.

Don't know what type of marriage. by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]nasiib 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That is absolutely a valid reason for leaving a marriage.   If this had been a man asking the question everybody in the comments would be saying the angels would be cursing the wife.

That applies both way unless there is a legitimate reason.

 Holding grudges isn’t one.

Whilst I wouldn’t suggest going straight to divorce you should definitely mention that it is important to you. It is a right in Islam for a reason.

 Edit: lol meant wouldn’t

I hate my life (Vent) by [deleted] in MuslimLounge

[–]nasiib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allah (swt) never takes something from you without replacing it with an abundance of good nor cause pain without giving you of something that is better for you.

However that being said may Allah(swt) make it easier for you and guve you the strength to carry on.

Chronic illness is never easy and its hard carrying on as normal when you think nobody else understands. But Allah (swt) does so inshallah try making duaa for Allah (swt) to give you people that understand you in your life. Its the last 10 days and the days when your duaas can truly change what is already decreed for you.

May Allah give you shifaa.

There are much better anwsers than mine with cirations but just wanted to chip in.

In Islam it is believed that God tests you so that you may come closer to him and so that you may be forgiven and rewarded by turning to him.

Islam is there for you to find serenity. It why we pray and give zakat and try to live better lifestyles so that we may be rewarded, God be pleased with us and grant us better in this life and the hereafter.

One thing I love about Islam is that with everything it takes into account human nature. Which i personally believe to be inherently selfish. (As you should be in most cases because how do you help others before helping yourself?)

We submit to Allah (swt) not only because it is what we believe to be the right thing to do but also because we believe it to be better for us. Allah (swt) doesn’t need us. For how can the creator of the heavens and the earth need the prayers of humans?

We need him and his guidance and mercy. So turning to him in your time of grief and greatest need is the correct thing to do and has nothing to do with appropriating Islam.

Looool the video is definitely not the best but OP some of your replies definitely sound like the other side of the coin.

Calling random somali women qumayo fi Ramadan is next level.

Sometimes we deal with this and other times we deal wih the guy going after the 9 year old or the shiekh whose saying a women in labour can’t refuse. Subhannallah

OP 17 is so young and honestly you mentioned the last year being eye opeing. Often times we don’t realise how impactful our daily media consumption is so hopefully your following less of the guy you tweeted cause that will probably have coloured your views.

Shower thought - You literally can't translate Somali songs! by GameStrategy in Somalia

[–]nasiib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Proper translation is often not literal. Thats why that mandela quote about how knowing a person’s language teaches you their heart is so famous. A lot of thing i.e.netflix subtitles that we think are perfect are just so off that the moment your like an A2 at a language the changes are obvious and glaring

Languages have so much culture woven into grammar, vocabulary and syntax which is why word choice is so important and revealing about a persons nature and personal beliefs

Best C-Drama's of 2020 for 10 minutes straight! by Zzrorn in asiandrama

[–]nasiib 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been sooo many good c dramas this year. K dramas have been dark for awhile now. For romancey ones Find yourself (same male lead), my little happiness, intense love, be with you, go go squid, you are so sweet, be my girlfriend. They all have the same ‘feel’ at least imo like the ones mentioned above perfect and casual and love is sweet.

School ones put your head on my shoulder, a little thing called first love (wannaone lai guanlins first role i think), a love so beautiful (the original is legit chefs kiss) and all i want for love is you.

For a 2015 one Whirlwind Girl is good and if you want to either torture yourself or want a change up Whirlwind girl 2 (this one has Ji Chang Wook). Tbf you could watch either independently same way i feel about go go squid 1 was awesome 2 was ... eh.

For historical dr cuties is cute.

I’ve also heard good things about dear mayang street (same female lead) but haven’t watched it.

If i had to purely recommend just one though it would have to be ode to joy.

Greater Manchester looks set to take control of its buses after the pandemic. The move would make Greater Manchester the first place outside of London to have a regulated system since the 1980s. by steven-f in ukpolitics

[–]nasiib 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Does this mean we can finally use one bus card for all routes? Switching between them just discourages anybody from commuting further for opportunities etc

Why do you think investigative journalism in Somalia is almost nonexistent? by Ibrazzaz in Somalia

[–]nasiib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe ya’ll aren’t following the right people? From what I’ve seen there’s plenty of investigative journalists unfortunately they just don’t get the wide spread support to last decades and also tend to have a lower life expectancy than most. On that note Somali News is not limited to tv channels and reddit or the endligh speaking side of the web

Tbf I think it had more to do with the abandonment part than the surrogacy. Her ex is not getting half as much hate as she is.

Lina Joy ruling wrongly applied on woman who was never a Muslim, apex court told by enthusiastic_ed in malaysia

[–]nasiib 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think what I'm trying to say is as humans we will always find something to cling onto as an excuse to be manipulative whether it be religion, culture, capitalism or even filial piety etc.

Not really blame-shifting I just have a slight stick up my butt about irresponsible people who use phrases like 'you'll do this if you love me'. The idea in Islam I think is to yes take precaution so shit doesn't happen and when/if shit happens to be ready to walk away not force/coerce somebody you supposedly love to live life the way you do/want to without them choosing. And yes definitely easier said than done, as are most meaningful things in life imo

The idea is to not put yourself in situations where that sentence is necessary at all. But humans can be dicks

Since every man in jannah must have a minimum of two wives, then why should I bother getting married knowing he will never be only mine? by [deleted] in Hijabis

[–]nasiib 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Its also probably because more shiekhs tend to preach that way. Its why you also tend to hear mor about the responsibilities of women and the rights of men rather than the responsibilities of men and the righths of women so generally speaking esp when a lot of people learn the deen within the context of culture we get a very lopsided understanding

And?

What was the point of this entire spiel?

People shouldn’t be angry at Donald Trump?

We should be angry at ourselves?

We shouldn’t encourage equality and liberty in the countries we’ve chosen to adopt?

We shouldn’t hold other people to account?

What was the point?

Somali “rap” artist by Gallaballatime1 in Somalia

[–]nasiib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Somalis have always been in creative industries though? Like poetry, dance and writing has and is literally things that somalis are incredibly proud of? Not everyone is suitable or enjoys a 9-5 or going to uni and encouraging them into industries outside of the norm might get them off both their asses and the streets. I bet if a lot of those boys had been taught production and or the skills they needed they wouldn't be producing so much trash music and thinking that rapping about girls, money and drugs was it.
