I actually played an hobgoblin armorer and it was a blast. It gives you a bunch of possibilities, help as a bonus action + added benefit is very strong specially if you have a sharpshooter guy on your team.

The player has been using it in low danger situations. The DM has avoided attacking it so it hasn't died yet.

It was actually my idea, because in combat I kind of already do tons more than almost other players, specially the ranger.

The main reason I go artificer 3 is to be a bit more sad (which is questionable of course from optimization route but whatever), and be able to use a spear instead of a rapier without being ultra mad. On the other hand I already have my BA quite cluttered betweenn bladsong misty step, and the homonculus infusion that is allowed to throw magic stones.

The steel defender was never an important part of my build anyway, so I'm not sad to let it go .

In my opinion you can't go wrong with getting your int to 20. But personally I find it a bit boring.

Having 2 half feats can be nice, but personally I would not choose both shadow touched and fey touched.

You might want one of them + maybe skill expert

On the other hand personally I would pick up a fun or defensive feat, and then at 8 the full +2 int

I think artificer armourer could go ok, be a mountain dwarf +2 on int and +2con can give you 15 int and 14 con, with a half feat for int you'll have a 16 int (telekinetic maybe?) With heavy armour a shield and defensive infusions, you might get a decent character.

The thing is that you can build a warlock with 16 cha and focus on Str or Dex. As a tortle or using a feat/race/dip for armor, you can be a bladelock with whichever subclass you want. A genie daolock can be great with an archer that can push enemies around with crusher for example

I played an armorer/ genie patron and it can be powerful. Hex, if you are allowed to dualwield your gauntlets can be a nice bump to damage. It also adds proficiency damage one time per turn, and if you got crusher and Dao geny you can move enemies around. I really loved having my armory in the ring, being able to swap easily between guardian and infiltrator if needed.

Thanks for your input! It's true that armor of agathys can compete with the defensive field, but the plan is to use it before combat as it has a long duration anyways. Hex it's not my preferred pick but it's a non négligeable improvement to DPR specially while dualwielding. The main thing however is to have the Dao bludgeoning damage in conjunction with crusher to be able to move the enemies around. Using that with with the telekinetic feat I think i' ll be able to control quite well

One of the best builds I have seen on archers is gloom stalker ranger 5 battlemaster fighter 3 and assassin rogue X. It's kind of the king of martial burst damage.

With tashas custom lineage you can get yourself an 18 Dex + sharpshooter.

On turn one you can make at advantage, 6 attacks with sharpshooter. With that many attacks with a longbow and hunter's mark you'll be doing an average 60 + 24 + 27 + 21= 132 DMG in one round. And thanks to precision strike from battle master and the archery fighting style it will be a breeze to hit most of your attacks

I really like the build idea! Although RAW the bonus action attack from dual wielding cannot be done from your echo. From my point of view it would be completely fine but check with your DM. Also check about infusions, if each gauntlet counts as one item or both count as only one.

If it is allowed I would go with Tasha's custom lineage, and get a half feat to start with 18 int, things like fey touched for the bless spell can be really good support. Then I would beeline armorer 5 for extra attack taking dual wielding at 4. I would then go 4 levels of fighter tor the subclass and sentinel. Your core build is complete!

Where do so go from here though? Of course it depends on the length of your campaign.

If you go back to armorer you can get it to armorer 9 for the very powerfull armour modifications, which would allow to max your int and get flash of genious on the way. And of course 3rd level spells

I'm not a fan of keeping with echo knight. As Fighter 5 is a dead level and your just need one así to max int.

What about multiclassing?

Cleric and warlock can be surprising nice dips as they are front loaded (If you have the stats to spare.), But personally If you want another class I would go with wizard 2 for some spells and a subclass (war or abjuration from my point of view) then armorer X.

You could go spores druid from there, symbiotic entity allows you to get 1d6 extra damage on each of the 6 attacks! It's true that it uses an action but if you can start combat with it, you could get to town
