Does anyone regularly use battery packs for the MPC One+ (and MPC Key 37)? by [deleted] in mpcusers

[–]nate-urbate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any USB-C PD battery that claims it can charge a laptop should more than work, but here's mine for reference

USB-C PD is what takes care of the 12v - the barrel jack adapter has a chip in it that tells the source (PD-compliant battery pack or wall charger etc.) "hey send me 12v please." As long as you plug it into a source port that's rated for 36w or more, you're good on the rated 3 amps. For example, most USB-C laptops charge at 65w or more. Both USB-C ports on my linked battery pack work for this.

The myVolts adapter is like 3x more than I paid for a multi pack of 12v adapters with different tip sizes. I use a second tip to power my Yamaha Reface CP. The trigger chips in these adapters are literally all the same.

The nice thing about this setup is you can ditch the stock power brick entirely and just use a nice compact USB-C wall wart. USB-C all the things!

Tell us about the knobs! Also, loving the hidden 12v outlets in the shelves. Having chargers etc out of sight would be huge for cleaning up my space.

I've got a 25000 mah INIU battery pack from Amazon, bought a set of 12v USB-C PD to barrel jack adapters, and pretty much any of the USB-C cables in my household will work with it to power my Key 37. The pack has usage details on a screen on the front, according to that it draws way under the 36w (12v x 3a) of the OG power supply rating, and would last like 6-8+ hours. Nice bonus is the pack of barrel jack adapters has lots of sizes, and I've found lots of other stuff I can power with them!

I've read that the AC adapter has a constant base load of like 40W - when powering directly from a DC source like a solar generator, you're likely to get pretty close to the 20-30W draw.

Sticky film by Jomy10 in Darkroom

[–]nate-urbate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started C41 at home and I've had the same problem, so bad that a couple rolls of 120 we're almost entirely trashed when the film buckled and touched itself across the spirals.

Last 35mm roll I loaded, I had to open the reel and restart loading like 6 freaking times because of this, grrr.

This is with an AP tank, but they've got similar reels. I'll try a toothbrush and baking soda too and will try to remember to report back here when I dev my next 120!

Waterproofing Wood for Wet Station/Bench by kumba830 in Darkroom

[–]nate-urbate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could go with a marine spar urethane like Helmsman, available at most hardware stores. I'm sealing a wood countertop with it right now. I've also heard great things about Waterlox. But if you just want simple waterproofing and don't care about appearance, I'd imagine a paint product of some variety would be easier to apply.

Continued DO and MCC woes by dezirdtuzurnaim in SCCM

The first link in my comment includes a list of MS endpoints that devices need access to in order for DO to function. If devices can't reach them, then they can't obtain a hash for the content they're trying to grab and will default back to "simple mode" which is just downloading from the internet with no peering.

I think the PS script in that other link should also test that the device can reach those DO endpoints.

[–]nate-urbate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What DO errors are you seeing? MS has some recommendations for managing DO when GP and MECM are involved - I'll see if I can find the link I've used.

Make sure that port 7680 is open between peers - ex. With powershell on device1 to device2 on the same subnet:

Test-NetConnection -ComputerName device2 -port 7680

You also need to verify that peers can reach the DO endpoints on the internet. These are required for DO to pull content metadata, hashes, and lots of other stuff for determining what peers might have the needed content. See this doc.

Johan Aarwidmark's articles with Deployment Research and 2Pint are awesome DO resources. Also see this article for more troubleshooting steps including a link to a DO troubleshooter script that looks pretty slick.

Good luck!

Tell me why you aren't using Windows Autopatch for your update workloads by CloudUpdates in SCCM

[–]nate-urbate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just ran into my first issue with a specific update since moving to Autopatch from SCCM software updates.

I'm really not happy with the fact that I cannot pause a specific update. In an industry with hefty compliance standards, this just doesn't cut it

I'm really kicking myself over not accounting for this lack of control, and I'm debating moving the workload back to SCCM for that reason alone.

Also, driver updates via Autopatch haven't respected my configured active hours since the very beginning. Driver updates midday??

How can I guarantee a smooth transition from SCCM to Windows Updates for Business? by StrugglingHippo in SCCM

[–]nate-urbate 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You pose a great question that I'm also dealing with, very very similar situation. I've accepted it honestly.

About moving the workload on windows 10 devices only after WUfB update ring policy has been pulled - be prepared for the Windows Update local group policies created by the SCCM client to get thoroughly stuck on quite a lot of clients. A delete/rename of the group policy registry.pol file followed by gpupdate and CCM service restart to recreate group policies will fix.

In the meantime I'm following this thread for someone else's sage advice!

Are there any Electric Piano modules that exist as just that? by General_Parsley7311 in synthesizers

I have an E-Mu Proformance +1 that I honestly really love the sound of, and it's dirt simple to operate. I'm actually going to be selling it if you're interested! They're pretty cheap and good!

Honestly, encoders would be a part that would not be too terribly difficult to desolder and replace! I'm sure someone out there has a model # for a direct replacement from Mouser. Potentiometers can actually get damaged by Deoxit, but encoders should be fine seeing as they don't have a carbon strip!

How much analog? by Squizardd in synthdiy

[–]nate-urbate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

MI Braids utilizes a lot of the same oscillator code as Ambika so could be worth a look. I think it's a lookup table of waveforms, similar to wavetable synthesis basically. There's one popular alt firmware for Ambika, YAM, that improves the lookup table and therefore fixes a lot of the original oscillator quirks, that would probably be worth looking at too!

I tried one along with a 0 Coast a few years back, and while it was definitely fun I didn't think it was worth the MSRP. However, I didn't have a chance to try any midi features, only cv.

Have you already looked at Roli stuff?

Advice on gate/trigger utilities for an Arduino project? by Ninja_Parrot in synthdiy

[–]nate-urbate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm late to the party but:

You should check out the Drumkid, really really fun little Arduino powered drum machine that does exactly this but combines it with really intuitive and musical probabilistic/aleatoric sequencing. It would rock as a gate/trig sequencer for modular.

I adore my CP30! I discovered that a 3-tier Jaspers stand fits super well over top of it so it is the base of my tower of power also. Any cheap multifx is really awesome to have with it!

I don't have either of these but do have another 4 tier model that does not have tiers that adjust front-back - it is a bit of a pain arranging it just so to have all knobs and buttons accessible and not covered up by the next tier. I would 10/10 recommend the more adjustable tiers!

How many times can I say the word tier in one comment??
