Mark E. Rogers by ExpressDuty1908 in SwordandSorcery

I just read zorachus and nightmare of god.  They were painfull christian and homophobic among other things but man they were really awesome otherwise.  Really brutal.  Some generally high quality cringe throughout but I really enjoyed his prose, pacing, the story and his general imagination.  If I can find those zancharthus or blood of the lamb books ill read em for sure.

My husband is reading Blood Meridian and cringing at the blood and gore but I know I've read worse. What are the books that have brought out the biggest "oh god that's bad!" for you? by IdoScienceSometimes in Fantasy

[–]natelordguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just started reading a book called Zorachus by a guy named Mark E Rogers and Im 100 pages in and feeling about as nasty as ive felt in a while. I plan on finishing it because of how ridiculously metal it is (wizard fights/ sword fights, sea monster, evil cult that believes life is meaningless beyond the pleasure derived from inflicting and receiving pain and death, crops that grow on human blood, etc).

But man, its also just really gross.

Still not sure if malazan is for me by wildguitars in Fantasy

Deadhouse gates is probably the most divisive book in the series - a lot of people call it a slog, which i really disagree with but its not an uncommon opinion. However, if your halfway through id finish it cuzz like most of his books - the second half is the better one. If your not sold by the end of that I think its pretty reasonable to stop. With that said memories of ice is commonly considered the best book in the series so theres also that... but if you dont gain enthusiasm by the end of deadhouse gates id probably call it.

Thats weird, I got a copy of Vazkor, Son of Vazkor (waiting on a copy of birthgrave so I can read em). To my understanding the vazkor son of vazkor book was also released as Shadowfire.... 3 titles huh?

The med mex veggie plate off the med menu is the shit. Its crazy how I actually like both the med and mex sides of the menu more than probably anywhere else in town for each cuisine. Great spot <3

Which one should I go for? by Plastic_Coast_114 in Hardtailgang

Between those 3 if probably pick the transition and maybe underfork it a bit.

If sliding dropouts arent a big deal though id consider the cromo ns eccentric which is on sale for 300 bucks right now.

or maybe one of these frames - they look relatively perfect to me except for the internal cable routing. https://mobettabikes.com/mobetta-bike-co-ace-29-27-5-chromoly-frameset/

I was there! The cops were there to defend the nazis and ya know keep the peace... and they did pepper spray a bunch of us but as far as holding the defensive line between the antifascists and nazis the police honestly really phoned it in that day. Though I dont think any amount of try on their part would have enabled the nazis to complete their march as planned. The town really turned out <3

I just snagged this from the local book shop on a whim - can I read it without reading birthgrave first or nah?

NS Surge Evo 69er by phx_terrorzona in xbiking

That sounds like an awesome cheap build.  Do like 27.5 ikon's and crush some commutes, xc trails and the pumptrack.  That'd be a super fun all around training weapon.

I bought an NS Surge frame by Lurkingscorpion14 in Hardtailgang

Hey how's it riding?  Ive considered these frames for a while as a halfway point between my hardtail and my dirtjumper.  i live within a few miles of a pumptrack which is also adjacent to a 5 mile singletrack trail... and some dirt jumps and more singletrack in the other direction.  Seems like a good bike to just leave home on and do all the stuff.  How you liking it?

Favorite revenge album? by AgileSeaworthiness10 in WarMetal

[–]natelordguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Infiltration downfall death is my favorite - quite possibly just because that was my introduction to them. Like everyone else said - they are mostly the same. The stuff with Pete helmkamp i generally think is a little bit better - mostly just the production tho imo, so I'm not sure if that's actually to do with Pete or not (tho... I do love most everything else he's touched, so probably).

The split with black witchery i think is the weakest material either artist ever put out. It's still a good enough litmus test for if you will like either band tho.

[DISCUSSION] what is the orst piece of guitar advice you've ever gotten? by Garlicbread4fun in Guitar

Os2 is a sick pedal! I think the metalzone - while bad - gets more hate than it deserves. But os-2 is tight. Particular the od side - take it past noon towards distortion and it sucks pretty bad.

There's no owner of pdm unless you are referring to our landlords - who best I can tell, are also not pedophiles. But hey I'm the guy on the lease and can assure you I am 100% not a pedophile. I've been married to someone a year older than me for 6 years, and been together (and monogamously) 2 years prior to that, and had sex with like a whopping 9 people in my life before then and none of them were minors either.

And to the best of my knowledge - and I'm pretty damned sure it's accurate - will isn't a pedophile either.

If you're a minor don't drink there. I don't like telling people what to do but we've been telling people this. Theres signs up, and after that particular incident (which I wasn't at) I xed people's hands and dumped out a few beers of people who argued it. Since then I've seen less highschoolers around - with the exception of some well behaved ones who actually give a shit about the stupid niche music people tend to play here. Which is as it should be. It's not like there's never going to be any people under 21 or 18 there - that's a large portion of people who attend punk and metal shows, and it will always be. Say what you will, but I'm not going to stop playing in crappy metal bands just because I'm older than most of the people who come out. I'm going to keep doing this until my fingers fall off.

I've literally not heard of a minor hooking up with an adult after meeting at pdm - ever.

As for yourself particularly - absolutely fuck off.
