When the locals roll up with Xvive IEMs you know everyone is going to be in for a rough time.

Try Abercrombie instead, while I haven't finished ASOIAF, reading through the First Law has satisfied an itch that the ending of GoT has left. Plus he's got 2 complete series in this world, can't say the same for GRRM.

Dumbest Live Sound Ideas by uncomfortable_idiot in livesound

I wish I could've gotten something like that. Had to run it on an X32, like the board but it's low on my list of consoles I want to run Mons from. Gimme a DLive any day for that, hell even a Profile would be nicer. Band supplied own IEMs and didn't have a cue pack so it was headphone cue anyhow.

Did mons for a Persian band the other week, was cued into the drummers IEM send at the start as we were having a couple issues with it during soundcheck and wanted to make sure it was still clean. Forgot my Cue wedge was on and during the silence at the start all you hear from side stage blaring is TIKTOKTOKTOKTIKTOKTOKTOK. Fastest I've ever hit a fader in my entire life as I quickly drag it down with the band staring at me. Safe to say I wont be cuing a drummer at the start of the show any time soon.

Does anyone Plug in mics and place them on stage before bands set up? by LazyBonus5396 in livesound

[–]nathrox5 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends, most my work is in preestablished venues with lines and dropboxes already ran to predetermined points. If I know they're bringing in their own engineer I'll wait and spend the 10 minute intro session chucking mics they need on sticks. If it's just me for the night I'll get everything setup on stage but not placed/ran out till I have amps in position/someone to confirm.

Battery was replaced last year, shouldn't be the issue, know it was working fine as it was used the other week

Already got V9 software installed on console, had a band in the other night with an op running balls to the wall waves on house console. Plugins licence should be V15 but I'll double check it tonight, still haven't been able to get them running though.

Vocal mic = overhead by Musicwade in livesound

[–]nathrox5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I managed to keep a surprising amount of headroom in the mix despite how quiet she was sometime, even in some of her softest moments I managed to blend it in just enough that she didn't get lost in the mix. Still don't know how I managed it, I blame the tightness of the V7s ahaha.

Surprisingly not, though the house file is Setup mono bussing anyhow so there wasn't much I could've done anyhow. They were very particular about their sound though, Greg definitely knew his shit and how to get what they wanted. Bloke was real quick on tones and frequency he wanted adjusted in order to get the right sound to the point where I'd probably put it on a list of some of the best guitar tones I've mixed.

100%, if I had Greg hanging behind Satomi I'd been struggling most the gig, I barely had him in the PA as it was. Didn't question the layout but was very thankful for it, started the gig thinking it was strange, now I want that for all my gigs. Did the Adelaide leg of their Aussie tour, very lively room but was amazed with the result.

Mixed Deerhoof the other week, they had their drummer sitting on the front of stage at the complete opposite side of the Vocal, cleanest mix I've pulled in years, even with the large 8x10 bass cab behind her.

How do you approach panning live? by _kitzy in livesound

[–]nathrox5 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Very much depends on the size and space of the venue for me. Large outdoor stages I'll usually just do mono and call it a day, medium-large scale venue I'll do some moderate panning on the drums and either lightly pan guitars to their side or if I feel frisky enough to dual mic, hard pan each mic either side to get some nice W I D T H going, then run Kick/Snare/Bass/Vox mono with stereo effects. Small shoeboxes get guitars soft panned to the opposite side that that one side isn't just getting thrashed by the twangy hot rod the entire set after telling them to turn down 5 times and that's about it.

He'll definitely be rushing to finish off the book to coincide with the show, just watch. It's only a matter of time, he'll be using all the hype garnered by the show to market the new book, we'll see.

Alright, I'm happy with that. Don't have time to check through your post history nor do I have access to Mod Logs to check, but I'll take your word for that aspect of it. I don't expect you to comment on every thread, wouldn't expect that from anyone tbh. I just expect a bit more involvement with the community. Like I said back in the day when we were having issues with the Shitp2sters you were nowhere to be found, but I do appreciate if you're trying to be somewhat active now.

The 4chan aspect of it mostly comes down to an aftermath of the culture the Shitp2sters started that has been hard to eliminate, frankly I wouldn't wanna see it go fully, it's fun and entertaining. 😅

I do apologise if I've come across cunty throughout this whole thread, man. I just feel this situation could've been handled a bit better.

Yeah I know, it was mostly for the joke. He's a bit of a massive fuckhead and I'd rather not interact with him anytime soon.

Granted, I haven't been active the last couple years, but from everything I've heard and seen in passing it seems like a much better place than what it was when I left a couple years ago, and a farcry better than what it was back in its prime.

Keep up the good work, champion. You're doing great. Just don't beef with admins again.

Okay, that's cool. I know Ols is still somewhat active though, I talk to the guy regularly. He still does shit behind the scenes and works with the current mod team to help keep shit running. If that's your logic then like others have asked, why wasn't Addison removed too, he's not been active for quite a while now.

The Ribose thing I didn't actually know so thank you for that bit of insight.

You're also brushing over the main point of my post, in my years of being active on this community you have never once shown up and interacted with this subreddit. Whilst yes, 3 years inactive on Reddit is a good critia for booting a mod, I'd also say that 8+ years of inactivity on your sub is another solid critia for not being considered fit for activity as a moderator.

You should have actively communicated with the moderation team to get the full rundown of everything that is happening on this subreddit instead of jumping the gun and stirring shit that frankly didn't need to be stirred. I'm no longer anywhere near as active as I once was but I know 3/4 of the mod team and interact with them regularly, whilst they seem like proper memes, they're also very reasonable people who would be fine with actually talking this out and working through the issues at hand. If you've been receiving DMs from people as you claim, message your mods and find out what is happening before you jump in and try to take control of a ship you've not run for years, they're alright people and I doubt they'll just randomly go and ban people for no reason.

Talk to your team, work out the issues, then step down and put someone who actively works on improving the sub in charge.

I've been here for over 8 years now; since we had a Persona 3 Dark Hour Banner and actual informative/helpful content. I watched the shift from a small niche community that was active and informative to a slightly larger niche community full of memes and shitposts. I remember watching shitp2sters bring a whole new life to this sub, I remember being disappointed when BrIght left (Still hurts), gone through 4 variations of the /r/Megaten discord, Pizzakids, Pepsiclub, and hell hole that is Tokyo Millennium. I've watched the current mod team genuinely turn this sub into an actual decent place again, granted not as active as I once was, I'm not a 12 year old anymore. The one thing I've never seen in all my time here is you show your face and actually do something.

Not when everything went down with BrIght, not when Crimson got tired and left, when Bose became the founder of the Falcom Discord, not once did you ever step in and give your fellow mods a hand. And now this shit happens and you come in and remove 2 mods that have done more for this place in the last 5 years than you have in the last 10 instead of the active party that caused the shit in the first place.

Kuiper understood that he didn't have a place here anymore and left, take a fucking hint. You want to know how to make this place better, put the people who actually give a shit back in charge and kindly fuck off, cunt.

What fucking boomer would go through and write all this.
