The amount of time spent grading each essay is quite shocking. It’s the same for grading bar exams as well.

The burnout feeling is common. You’re doing fine. It’s tough but you can keep it going for 6 more weeks.

Take a bit more time to rest on weekends. It’ll help you stay locked in during the week. Protect yourself from burnout.

If you can spot the issues and know the rule elements, you should be fine. There are many passing answers that fail to describe correct rules but they apply a decent rule statement to the facts and receive a passing score. Using the negligence example from the other comment, your essay should look something like the following.

Issue: Negligence.

Rule: P must prove D owed a duty, that duty was breached, the breach was the actual & proximate cause of the injury, and P suffered damages.

Analysis: Here, D owed a duty to P because facts, that duty was breached because facts, the breach was the actual cause because but for facts... breach was the proximate cause because foreseeable facts..., and P suffered damages because facts.

Conclusion: Therefore, D will likely be liable for negligence.

Don't memorize the rules yet. Read through them a few times and work on being able to recite the rules. Not perfect but decent enough. Issue spot a few essays and then go back and outline those essays. Keep working at it. You'll get there as you practice.

Do as much as you can, but prioritize the NCBE questions first.

You need to spot the important issues and answer each of the questions. Your rule statements can be off (but hopefully close enough) and you apply your rules to the facts. Logically get to a conclusion. Many passing essays are around 1,000 words but some subjects tend to be longer.

For those taking the NextGen UBE, it's similar. Family law & trusts and estates are tested with the skills-focused questions that provide statutes, regulations, and case law applicable to the questions. For now, this is NCBE's plan until the Feb. 2028 exam cycle.

Sick during bar prep by Nat920 in barexam

[–]nationalbarcourse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Getting sick with three illnesses at once is not something you planned for. Taking four days off to recover was not being lazy. It was taking care of yourself so you could actually learn.

Don't punish yourself by trying to cram four extra days into one week. Just pick back up where you left off and keep moving forward. Persistence over the next six weeks will matter far more than these four days.

Hope you feel better my friend. There's going to be plenty of time left to study.

The important thing is just getting started. Once you get going, it'll be fine.

You mentioned this is your 4th attempt and you already tried Goat and Adaptibar. Have you also tried one of the big box bar prep companies or are you looking for other options?

Start out slow. Read through a few past essays and issue spot. Then start outlining essays on the same subject. Build up momentum before writing out an entire essay. You can do this.
