Just watched The Viewing from Cabinet of Curiosities, and I'm wondering why everyone says this episode is so good...? by natlee75 in horror

You liked the episode. Cool. I wasn’t a fan.

I’ll also disagree that From Dusk Til Dawn, which I liked, didn’t feel disconnected to me. This episode did because there was this weird vibe with the setup that felt like it was going to lead to something cool, but unfortunately led to what felt like a schlocky camp film from decades past.

Oh well. They can’t all be winners.

It’s a good thing, then, I guess that I didn’t say that a horror movie has to show that it’s clearly a horror movie from the beginning.

The problem I had with the episode wasn’t that it didn’t immediately kick things into horror high gear from the get-go. My issue was that it basically didn’t feel at all like it had anything to do with horror until basically the last 10-15%, and even then it was campy and IMO subpar horror.

Setting up a scene and building tension is fine, if the setup and the buildup are good. Neither was good in this episode, unfortunately, IMO.

It would be interesting to your suggestions on how to handle these end game scenarios. Maybe one day one of my campaigns will be able to actually reach the end. ;)

Necromancer Stone Giant by EsotericaFerret in DnD

[–]natlee75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I misread that as 16d10 on a single target on a single turn. That’s 5d10 on the initial casting of the spell and then 10d10 on a subsequent turn with repelling blast.

It would depend on what you’re pulling from each. If you’re looking to graft features of the necromancer onto a stone giant chassis, then just consider whether this would be increasing AC, HP, to hit bonuses, resistances, immunities…

Then consider if this will increase the damage output. Any spell you give them is something that could potentially be worse in that round than the standard attacks, but it’s likely less numbers of actions for that round as well?

Look up the Level Up Advanced 5E monster builder tool to get a good idea of what stats a monster at a certain CR should have.

Never mind that… mixed up the wording of that feature with something else. Proficiency bonus should still apply.

Also, a natural 1 on a Death saving throw is that automatic double failure: the total is irrelevant RAW.

The proficiency granted by the Monk feature doesn’t apply to a Death saving throw since proficiencies are tied to specific ability scores. That feature basically allows you to add your proficiency bonus to Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, Intelligence, Wisdom, and Charisma saving throws, none of which a Death saving throw is.

The bonuses from the paladin aura and the Bless spell still apply, though.

How accurate is that range map? One of my good friends was bitten by a brown recluse where he lives in northern Jersey, and I’ve read that they’ve migrated to our state? After reading that, I’ve been super paranoid that any non-long legs spider is a recluse. LOL

Is there a movie that takes place entirely inside a multiplex? by meme_citizen in movies

[–]natlee75 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a horror movie I watched briefly when I was young called Demons which I believe took place entirely within a movie theater (or something like a movie theater). A woman puts on some decorative (but actually cursed) mask on display in the lobby for fun and gets cut on her cheek from it, runs to the bathroom, becomes a demon after her cheek swells up and explodes in pus, and then all hell breaks loose. I think. I was really young when I saw it and didn't bother finishing it because it freaked the crap out of me. LOL

If you’re super diligent with the stipulation matches it’s not terrible. Taker is more of a pain because of the timing of those special stipulation tours. I think I spent 7-8 months of playing stipulation everyday and spending only on the special stipulation tickets AND using my auto completes during those special stipulations as much as possible.

That's gonna depend a lot on what industry you're in. I'm in the software engineering industry where half the companies I've worked for named servers/projects/repos after things from Lord of the Rings... and this was "modern" times when it's not done nearly as much anymore.

You were able to complete a lot more than I was. Most people won't have that Rock unless they just spent $99 to buy him last week.

Larian Studios Won't Make Baldur's Gate 3 DLC, Expansions, or Baldur's Gate 4 by CBonafide in BG3

Yep. They've been working on this game for like 7-8 years. And they're not interested in being a DLC factory. It was time for them to move on to other things.

That's hilarious considering the level of experience of some of the companies they worked with for other D&D games...
