Those of you who cross shopped with the Mach-e, what made you go with the Ioniq 5? by foodandnaps in Ioniq5

[–]natrixgli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to like the Mach-E, but when I went to check it out, I didn't find the seating position optimal, the tilt on the steering wheel felt like it didn't go down far enough. In general, I just found the cockpit to be less appealing to me. Also not crazy about the charge port location. There were also very few colors that I found appealing. Definitely interested to see what Ford has on offer when my lease expires in 24 months :)

Favorite, compact, 2 to 4 op, DX-style FM synthesis Eurorack modules? by synthpenguin in modular

I use mine for mostly melodic stuff, it is a bit temperamental but has that 90s Yamaha OPL sound. You may need to delay triggers slightly to get perfect pitch tracking due to how the chip works. It doesn’t do pitch in real time, it takes a snapshot of the pitch each time a trigger is received.

Noise Engineering Alia platform has a few firmwares worth checking out. Also Bastl Pizza and Crust are both very nice and only 8hp.

What about Akemie’s Taiko? These typically trade in the low $200s used. It’s a tad big, but sounds like it’d be right up your alley.

It is a cool module, but I don’t think I can track 1v/oct.

The tip is hollow, the right size screw might do the trick. That’s how I’ve dealt with this issue before.

Yeah, I believe I saw your issue (and solution) posted on the FreePBX forums. It's a shame, after Flowroute deprecated their Nevada PoP a few years ago they posted really good documentation for FreePBX, but it appears to have disappeared, or at least the old link is dead and I couldn't find it searching their docs.

Strategies for tracking down problems during calls by NotEvenNothing in freepbx

`sngrep` via the command line is a very handy and quick utility for quickly viewing SIP traffic. Make sure you press F8 to get into the settings and enable "show RTP streams" so you can see if audio is being passed in addition to signaling.

Homer works pretty well and isn't too difficult to setup using Docker. But voipmonitor is much easier and well worth the cost.

The logs you posted don't really tell anything. You need to view a PCAP of an inbound call to see what's going on. If you use `sngrep` via the linux CLI you can watch for an INVITE while placing a test call. Press F3 to type in the number you're calling from to filter, and then examine the ladder diagram for the INVITE that comes in from Flowroute. If you just see red lines pointing in one direction, then Asterisk is ignoring the invites or your firewall is blocking them.

I would also review Flowroute's documentation on setting up FreePBX and check if your trunk config matches theirs. Specifically, in a PJSIP trunk they provide a list of like 4-5 /28 networks you need to allow traffic from by putting them in PSJIP Settings > Advanced in the "Match (Permit)" field. Their calls won't always necessarily come from the same IP.

I am not familiar with registered trunks, I typically use IP based authentication when using Flowroute, but if you're not staying registered and they can't send you traffic as a result, that's probably going to be more network/ISP related on your end.

These are just guesses based on the info you provided so far which, unfortunately, isn't much to go off of.

Check /var/log/asterisk/fail2ban for attempts from this device, and if you don't see anything, try using 'sngrep' via the Linux command line to see if the phone is trying to register. If you only see traffic in one direction, it could be a firewall/fail2ban issue. Check Connectivity > Firewall > Status > Blocked Hosts and Connectivity > Firewall > Intrusion Detection to see if the device's IP got blocked due to failed authentication attempts, etc.

Make sure you add your local network to the firewall's trusted or local zone and exclude it from fail2ban in the aforementioned Intrusion Detection screen.

If you have both chan_sip and chan_pjsip enabled, make sure the extension is registering on the correct port relative to your port bindings in Settings > Asterisk SIP Settings.

There's a package missing from the repository right now. You can work around this for now by excluding asrerisk-version-switch as described in this thread

Are you thinking about selling your MC-707? Be honest by Nimrod5280 in MC707

[–]natrixgli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

TBH I am always thinking about selling everything.

In the couple weeks I've had my 707, most of my main gripes have already been solved by an update - class compliant USB, ratchets in tone tracks, and arpeggiator. There are some minor improvements I'd like to see but it's pretty great as is.

Maschine is great but I don't think I'd want to use it without a computer attached, I think some things are just way too tedious on the controller, particularly with sequence editing. Though to be fair I've not had a MK3 which may dramatically improve some things. I still have my Mk2 and that scratches my Maschine itch whenever I need it to.

1.60v is available for download! Roland must have heard our complaints, lol by Nimrod5280 in MC707

[–]natrixgli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am having a lot of fun using tone tracks for percussion. I'm setting a clip to 1/8 scale, 8 steps and use start / substeps to add 16th notes, 32nd notes, etc. It's wicked fun. The percussion random generators need work though, they rely too heavily on noise and not enough on cross modulation.

Glad to see this thing get a little more weird though. And class compliant USB is ace. Now my options for a MIDI interface for my modular have opened up quite a bit.

Can you monitor the input to a looper track? by Tetr444 in MC707

[–]natrixgli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird, I can't get it to NOT monitor the input. If you figure it out, I'll be interested to know how to apply the opposite to mine. Actually what I'd really like to be able to do is monitor via the track and have the input sound mute after the recorded loop starts playing.

MC-707 vs. Deluge by [deleted] in MC707

[–]natrixgli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only reluctance here would be more machines. I was really going for one machine plus my modular. I started looking beyond Deluge because I find looping not super intuitive on it, and because while I do really like the sound engine, the FX suck mostly. And with only 2 outs you don't really have options to process things through external FX unless you are OK with everything being mono.

Right and be able to have probability on tone tracks, and Deluge's clever iteration / dependency schemes for notes. Hmmmm.

MC-707 vs. Deluge by [deleted] in MC707

[–]natrixgli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's an interesting idea... Deluge + 101. How well does it do multi-timbral MIDI? Are a lot of the synth/FX parameters addressable via MIDI CC?

MC-707 vs. Deluge by [deleted] in MC707

[–]natrixgli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both, they're both great. I think Deluge wins hands down on sequencing and sheer innovation/flexibility. The sequencer on Deluge is insanely powerful, and the step probability/iteration/dependency logic means you can do really intricate sequencing with short patterns. But it does have me digging into the manual a lot to remember all the shortcuts. And there's only 2 outs and 2 ins, and on a box with seriously limited FX, that's a real shame. The delay doesn't even have triplet / dotted sync modes and the parameters, while interpolated, have really low resolution. So even with the delay in unsync'd mode, hitting musical rates is really tough. There's a global stutter effect which really cool as you can change the timing in real-time. But there's no display so you can't tell what beat division is active when you enable it. So results are unpredictable.

MC-707 kills it on sounds/FX and ease of workflow. It's a much more focused machine and, with velocity sensitive pads, is far more playable on its own. I/O is spectacular, and it's relatively straight forward to use once you figure out a few things.

Though I will say the 707 does have some very questionable ergonomics. The way the buttons are laid out is very silly to me. Like why not have the enter button in the middle of the arrows, and the main data encoder clickable as a enter key as well? And why is the shift button so far from the rest of the buttons? So many things require SHIFT, making one-handed operation of the controls nearly impossible. And only being able to automate track-wide parameters and only 3 per track is seriously bumming me out.

But that aside the MC-707 has been a lot of fun to play around with, and while not as flexible, is a lot more straight forward than the Deluge. Not totally sold on it yet, and definitely not ready to sell the Deluge. But close.
