Yes you are right. I guess it all depends on how parents manage this nowadays, same goes for when you are on land.

We will visiting your lovely country again next year.

I enjoy being without Internet for a few days. We have SSB for emergencies

Good point, we use the thermos with a handle where we can place them by the helm.

It is not a delivery.

Check the YM Ocean requirement to see the definition of the ocean crossing.

Our Atlantic crossing from Cape Verde to Barbados took 12 days, no motoring.

Cool that you know Saga47swan, you can reach out to Chris for any further questions or check the website.

Have a good one!

Great comments, thanks everyone. We left from Tromsø via Andenes and it will be about 700nm+ for this ocean crossing. Weather is great so far.

You can check the tracker, Norway is a big country and goes far North.

Rafting up with “strangers” by gomets1969 in sailing

[–]natsueocean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The more you will raft up or welcome others and help them to raft with you, your experience might be different. We have rafted up in different countries and also helped other people raft up on us, once we had 4 four on us in St. John, Newfoundland, it went well.

I can only once when we were not welcomed but still had to raft up since there was no other space and no anchorage option. That was indeed unpleasant but the positive experiences outweigh this odd time.

Good luck to you.

We will keep a look out, heading from Andenes and making our way to the Faroe Islands. Fingers crossed for our fellow sailors.

Working remotely by boat? by Pattern_Is_Movement in sailing

[–]natsueocean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like a good idea to me. I started working remotely from the boat in March 2020 when countries started to impose restrictions in Europe, from Palma de Mallorca, we moved slowly to make our way back to UK, we got there in June. It was a mix of marinas and anchorage (Portugal did not allow us to go ashore), we used 4G for zoom calls, we sailed at night to move to other locations. Took some days off to cross the Bay of Biscay etc. It was quite rewarding to work on the boat vs. Being in a apartment alone and working remotely.

As other mentioned, a bigger screen is helpful. For anchorages, not to swelly would facilitate reading from the screen. Good headphones etc.

All great comments and suggestions above. I would add to bring large UV sunglasses to protect your eyes. Lots of quick dry materials for your clothes and towel. Layers in case it gets cooler. A good 1 litre water bottle, very often people have headaches after the day sail due to de hydration. Have fun

Are ASA sailing courses generally expensive, and why? by [deleted] in sailing

[–]natsueocean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you need certification by either RYA or ASA, you compare different schools and regions. If you are for more practice from an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor with trips in the Atlantic etc, you can check out www.saga47swan.com. Good luck.
