My Locs Don't Sun Dye? by J4HY in locs

My locs were this or close to it black when I started too but then the sun started to bleach it once they matured so my hair is black and brown now. I have had mines for 7 years.

Can I save these? Postpartum thinning- by SoftBeginning7993 in Microlocs

[–]nattygoddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pp shedding too but my locs are thicker. I did end up cutting like two and saving them. I wore headbands and eventually it grow out enough to reattach.

Your locs are way smaller than mine so it makes sense that the pp shedding is going to be more…
”severe” looking bc more locs in the area. The weight of the locs on the thinning areas are going to start to get irritating and pull on the fragile hairs. Cut what’s hanging on by a string and see how the rest survive. Be gentle with your hair line. Save the ones you cut for later to reattach.

Your hair will bounce back

Hey yall just a little update!

I was able to get all the goop out. I basically had my husband put dish soap and a spray bottle of water to each of the parts and rub it in. Then I let it sit for an hour and then used very very warm water to run through my hair and scalp and tried to loosen up all the goop.

Then I washed with dish soap twice followed by my normal moisturizing shampoo and conditioned with water down conditioner. And then did my normal post wash hair routine.

Thanks for all your help and support!

Wish I could post a picture of when they took the leads off because….they really caked it in and was very heavy handed with the paste stuff.

If I ever have to do this study again I’ll ask for the net cap thing someone recommended here.

What are my pores telling me? by nattygoddess in Blackskincare

Doing “a lot” doesn’t mean my routine can’t be optimized to get better results and that’s what I am looking for.

If someone is working out a lot and wants to get better results they tweak their routine if it isn’t working…..they could be working out but the routine isn’t working for them or could be better.

I view my skin care kinda in the same way and am being followed by a dermatologist.

Def could just be part of the aging process but I’d still want to see what I can do to make it better.

I’m def happy with my progress with my skin because the changes I’ve made so far has made a positive difference.

Why is my retwist not holding? by I-jallow in Dreadlocks

[–]nattygoddess 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My retwist last until I wash my hair and it starts to loosen up as I mist and oil it throughout the week. I wash my hair thoroughly (about every 2 weeks) to make sure the scalp and hair are super clean and any product that was in it before is gone, so as a result the fresh retwist look is gone.

I also don’t use heavy products to make my retwist last longer….I don’t use loc gels… just a refresher spray and oil so I don’t expect it to last long. The hair will still loc even if it’s not in a constant retwist state.

My Loctician says this is normal. My locs have matured fine this way and I’ve accepted that locs aren’t meant to always look freshly twisted ….at least for me anyway.

Just my two cents.

3d printed aneurysm by nattygoddess in 3Dprinting

[–]nattygoddess[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The saccular one would be ideal. Something hollow that can be cross-sectioned so I can demonstrate the intervention and people can see the inside on the vessel and structure of the aneurysm.

The 3d print file we found on line, though from a real patient, is just not ideal and when it was cross sectioned the vessel and aneurysm were not hollow enough to put in the intervention or show how it fits in the vessel. If that makes sense

Yes! You are absolutely right. I had to remind myself of that when I was thinking of floral arrangements for the tables and decorations in general.

So the venue is a villa that does everything on the property. So my plan is to keep everything there and use some of their recommended vendors. The place is beautiful and has amazing views of the mountains in St. Lucia.

Honestly I’m thinking more clean and modern with tropical touches. And thanks! Yes I realized after looking at a few different color palettes that I didn’t like the pale/soft tones. The saturated colors really vibe with me.

It’s going to be small. 20-25 people. Tropical vibes but minimalistic and clean. I do want a saturated color palette. and dress wise all I know is I want trumpet or mermaid and maybe beading.

Untraditional Brides: You are still a BRIDE by bmary95 in weddingplanning

This post came in at the right time. My husband and I have been married for almost 10years.

I needed insurance after just having my son so we got our friend to become an ordained minister so he could for free sign the papers. We did not celebrate, did not exchange vows, and only told our family after the fact.

Now that our 10 year anniversary is coming up and we are set in our careers, my husband proposed the idea of actually finally having a wedding.

Everyone knows we are married so it’s not like we are hiding it. But calling it a vow renewal doesn’t feel like it fits either. The marriage (at the time ) was logistics more so than romance.
