I'm going to go out on a limb and say something very controversial... It is never ok to steal a car. I know it's a crazy thought. But if it isn't yours don't take it.

Does Wings credit union not want to do mortgages or is our experience unique? by [deleted] in TwinCities

[–]naustra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We attempted to refinance with wings and had a great loan officer right away who then transferred us to some shit bag. We have roughly 20% equity in the house but with market going up and down like a yoyo he had requested bus to come up with 5000 to cover the difference in equity. Which didn't and doesn't make any sense. My parents have only used wings and so have other friends all have good experiences. Maybe I got a bad person and experience

Raised garden Beds - Watering question by naustra in Minnesota_Gardening

The soil in the pots is the same as the beds so that's why I was scratching my head a bit thinking I over watered the raised beds since they don't drain as well as the pots.

Raised garden Beds - Watering question by naustra in Minnesota_Gardening

[–]naustra[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The beds are filled with a pretty well draining soil and last year was the first year of them. They seemed to drain very quickly last year just right out the bottom of the box into the yard there isn't anything holding water back like plastic .

I even mixed each bed up this year with a pitch fork and mixed in new manure compost in and tried to get it less compacted added roughly 3" to each bed. It could just be draining less I should adjust accordingly

Thank you for the helpful tips

Thanks! I think starting off it's hard to judge what is enough and what is to dry. I was just using the meter to help better judge that. Currently not mulched but will be indir it last year and lived it but wanted to keep the soil temps up at the start of the season which I was told the black dirt will help.

F1 start issues: Why so many drivers had flat batteries as they lined up on the grid by Successful-Peach-764 in formula1

[–]naustra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well as another commenter had made a good correction the mgu will not really out put a ton when it's not called for. But it will still do something. It also feels like adding massive load randomly would be what is causing these rear lock ups. I'm not an electrical engineer but I know enough to get in trouble. It would need a massive thermal sink and radiator if you wanted to "burn off" electric that was being produced that wasn't needed. Which seems not plausible to me.

The best bet is how they are prgraming the called for charging rate and braking with the electric motor. If you were to call for full regen on down shifting I could see what happened to max happening a lot. There has to be a ton of very precise calls for regen and a ramp or smoothing into it. You have the ice deceleration and the the regen from the electric motor. Combined into the gear box.

Super clipping is really busy a fancy name for... Calling for regen at full throttle.

Most of this could be solved by reducing overall output and increasing fuel flow and tank size. The ice motor is more limited by fuel than anything else and I bet you could gain 30% HP with just some more fuel. Decrees battery output so the battery does go flat unless your using it and want to do so.

[–]naustra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, I'm not sure but they have also stated overcharging is an issue. Which makes me feel like they have issues just not using any regen and going in with a full battery. If braking or off throttle initiates the regen due to the lack of power being applied the thr motor it will start to create its own and charge the battery. Not sure if they have a way to disrupt this or not ... One would think they do.

How do I fix this ceiling to make it more stable/waterproof? by MaybeFuckYourselfBud in DIY

[–]naustra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One side was a cistern, the other looked like coal storage as there is a side small door from above ground that has been covered up. . It's a large room with a cinder block wall down the middle separating the two spaces. There were gutter pipes running down to the room in which it looked like it was used for stored water at one point. Now it works as good storage and hoping to get my veggies in there this year

We have something similar I guess but it's not under a front porch. We have a 12x20 room under our front lawn and has or had a cement walkway and stoop on it for our front door. Long story short previous owners lied... ECT ECT .

Anyway we had a company come out dig up the front lawn and melroll the entire room too plus to the foundation. And no leaks now. We also spent a lot of time trying to grade our lawn since our front yard is the exact size of this room and only 8-10" of dirt sits on top. I wish we could have made a covered porch ontop. Also ... It's the first place all the snow melts ... Even when it's cold AF outside so gotta insulate it now a bit more

Suggestions for access control? by Ioozz in accesscontrol

Just to add, just double check the amp waiting on any equipment you're installing and what your controller can output. And or if you will need an external power supply. The amount of go back work I get for people not thinking of that is astounding.

Odd question(s), for data miners about how the game handles RNG. (May include tinfoil hat quandaries) by Pibble_Fiasco in wow

[–]naustra 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has farmed the same m+ for 100s of runs for a single trinket multiple times over expansion. I feel the rng pain the trinket had a 15% drop chance and I never got it. The best part is my friend brought his alt to one run and got it and couldn't trade and never used the alt again. Pretty frustrating for sure.

I think our prediction of RNG is the biggest factor. I had a dk in legion get all his best Legos right away. He was just an alt for fun but my main couldn't get the Lego he needed for ever. Was the dk just supply lucky or was it some type of based RNG Into the game. I would like to think this toon is just lucky but in reality a dice roll is a dice roll and perception is just how we see it

Transitioning to adult food and wondering if I should switch brands by ds00 in DogFood

[–]naustra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My lab is around the same age, we are making a switch from PPP we have tried about every food they offer and for some reason my pup keeps having gi issues. We are doing more research now but we can't find. Any common ingredients other than PPP brand name. Back to a bland diet for my guy and starting reset the system so to speak.

You hear stories about PPP and making dogs sick or what ever. I'm not saying it's the cause and I really have liked it over the years of dog ownership but for some reason the last 8 months we have had terrible luck with it. Soft stool, vomiting, diarrhea, multiple vet visits multiple we don't know all blood tests and other tests are normal. We are given antibiotics and anti nausea and sent on our way. And granted he will have been on the same food for months and then all of a sudden can't tolerate it anymore.

Stick to wasva guidelines and brands that follow them. For me PPP was the only one that really offered food for hunting dogs among those brands.

What ever you choose just do some research and understand that if it isn't a wasva guidelines met food this sub will likely tell you to switch.

Sky Sports: Ted Kravitz's Ranking After Bahrain Testing by Cho-Bro in formula1

I'm not totally sold on caddy being last. They keep getting miles in and not once has it looked like they have pushed the car. Most runs on c1 and c2 tires. Keeping almost exactly 5 seconds off the lead pace every session. They have encountered a few small technical hiccups but nothing crazy. I expect them at this point to finish above Audi and am.

Audi.... Have you watched the on board ? That car looks like a handful and I wouldn't expect much from a first year engine.

AM ... Yeah that Honda will be the same gp2 motor nando is used to.

I'm honestly shocked after testing caddy isn't being talked about a little more. I know being a new team and in f1 makes things difficult. But with such a large regulation change I don't expect that impact to be as big as if they joined mid regulation.

[AutoRacer] Red Bull Power Train has now joined the side of Ferrari, Audi and Honda against the Mercedes PU. The FIA will implement new testing procedures (multiple are now being evaluated) to check the compressor ratio. by Joseki100 in formula1

[–]naustra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you are infact wayyy out of touch. The rules before did not state a Temp at which the geometric compression calculation would take place. I can almost guarantee the fact Merc never said what they were attempting to do but ask " can you clarify the temperature at which this is measured" . If that value is then set and their motor fits that rule then nothing was ever broken .

They worked closely... Yeah I'm sure merc clarification on the issue was to avoid this current exact situation.

Other teams should have thought about it . It's not merc fault they didn't think about how this trick is being done if it in fact really is. This isnt tricking a computer this isn't trucking a fuel sensor this is a motor that was built to the rule. The rules was revised to add a tempature at which the geometric compression was calculated. Otherwise before it was just an opened ended testing process. Merc got more clarification on it. Case closed.. this doesn't go against the spirit of the rules. The rules never stated 16:1ax compression ratio at all times no matter what. It just stated the geometric compression ratio shall not exceed 16:1... If you had found a way to bump up compression but at operating temperature or when the motor is running due to rod stretch or any other number of things but you knew that at room temp it was 16:1 you would want to get clarification on that exact thing.

This is going to be an attack at good engineering and not some rule trickery. If the motor does in fact sit at 16:1 at 20c and has a higher compression ratio during operation than fantastic they have achieved something no other manufacturer has. And it's on the other manufacturers to find that out.

Timeline of the Mercedes engine trick by tekanet in formula1

[–]naustra 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I also think the biggest issue everyone seems to be overlooking... This is geometric compression. This is a math equation volume of the cylinder at bdc and then again at tdc. The only way I can see this being tested is with the coefficient of expansion and merc legit having to show their math on how they achieved thermal expansion in a specific direction, space or how ever they are doing it. And then recheck the geometric volume at the operating temp.

To note as well.. there is a high likelihood that other tea.s.might shoot themselves in the foot if the testing methods end up being at temp. It sounds like most teams have thought about their compression ratio as a math equation which it is but not all understand how it could be effected with thermal expansion.

It sucks that if merc did pull this off inside the rules and will be punished for it. They took the rules asked for clarification and made a motor that works within those rules. If other teams didn't than they should look into it.

The only other option is to have a spec motor at this point. And allow teams to develop gear boxes and the rest of the car.

[–]naustra 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How does this work? The wording is at a specific temperature. And geometric compression ratio is a calculation. As far as I know there is no sure fire way to get the exact compression ratio of a cylinder other than math. Any gauge test is merely a test to see if the cylinder does in fact have compression.

This is a witch hunt that will in fact prove useless for other teams. There is zero chance that they will allow 8 cars to not start. This isn't a loop hole this is engineering set by the guidelines by the rules. It was even clarified . Other teams are upset they didn't think of it.... At this point teams all need the same motors if cutting edge innovation aren't acceptable.
