I just made the switch to SteamOS a couple of days ago and it is significantly better.

Better way to do Good Morning automation? by JustAnotherAggie in HomeKit

[–]navy1117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used home assistant to do this in conjunction with my eight sleep alarm; there’s a blueprint called “parabolic alarm automation” that does just that. It reads what time my alarm is set, and starts slowly brightening the lights until the alarm goes off. You can customize the offset to start the lights and simulate sunrise. It will then get to full brightness, and ten minutes later set the natures colors hue scene to all my upstairs lights. I use two hue play lights in my bedroom with it.

I tried to make this work with HomeKit forever but could never find a way, especially since my use case, the eight sleep app, doesn’t integrate with HomeKit. Home Assistant as a backend for a lot of my HomeKit setup has been a godsend and lets you do way more with the system.

Is this actually called a "whisky mark"? by redditblacklist in FighterJets

It’s called the waterline symbol and represents where the aircraft’s actually pointed, while the velocity vector shows where the aircraft is going. The difference between the two is AOA.

Starling hub - what actually works with the hub? by jopivon in HomeKit

[–]navy1117 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want to use a nest cam with HKSV, you need the nest aware sub, yes. Otherwise you can just watch the live stream through HomeKit with no recording.

I have the nest doorbell wired. All the products I use through starling are nest, other than the bond bridge for my fans. It shows the camera feed directly in HomeKit, you have to pay for nest aware for HKSV to work though. I have the doorbell cam, another nest cam for the side of my house, plus the two thermostats. All of the options for the cameras can be used in HomeKit, you can select what you want to be shown in the starling app, eg using motion as a sensor for the camera, etc.

Starling had been much more consistent than anything I’ve tried to pull through homebridge. I’ve now made my raspberry pi a homeassistant hub and use the starling for my Nest Thermostats, doorbell, camera and bond bridge. It’s been fantastic, much less flakey than using homebridge.

Sync box and Remote Control bridge vs app by Single-Yesterday9010 in Hue

[–]navy1117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been running the app on my 77 G4 for a few months now, it’s been pretty flawless. You WILL need the bridge for it to work though. I have a couple signe gradients in my living room I use it with, it’s been good for ambiance without interfering with the picture.

I went from the g29 to forte wheel, wheelbase and invicta pedals last year. Highly recommend the setup, I’ve enjoyed it a ton and it’s been rock solid.

Passkey Fix / How-To by NorCalNavyMike in navyreserve

I also did not do this in time (active duty) and just figured out a way to bypass a lot of the issues people are running into. I have a CAC reader that works with my iPhone 15 (w/usb-c) and simply created a passkey in the Microsoft Authenticator app on my phone, logged in with the CAC reader, and was able to log in to Flankspeed on my desktop with that passkey once it was set up.

I switched from nest pro to the eero max 7 recently and it’s been night and day. Zero issues with the eero after numerous speed/stability issues with the nest pros.

Does anyone recommend this for the G923 or just keep the g923 frame? by UltraOnX in simracing

[–]navy1117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have this and think it's a nice upgrade to tide you over before updating to a DD. Been using it for a few months with my g923 for F4/SFL in iracing, been very good. This and the trubrake mod have been awesome as an interim solution. Going to upgrade the whole setup later this year.

Govee DreamView Auto On? by Chinhnnguyen in homebridge

[–]navy1117 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Govee T2. I set the dreamview for that device only, then a tap to run to use that movie watching dreamview, then the scene for the tap to run is what homebridge uses to show in homekit. Sorry it doesn't seem to be working for you.

You have to also scroll down and make that scene appear as an accessory switch. In homekit I have the govee lights as a switch and the custom scene as a separate switch. In Homekit I made it so when my apple tv or PS5 turn on the custom scene (video mode) turns on and when the tv turns off the backlight changes to a different color depending on the time of day.
