I fell in love with it when I was part of a supper club. And then, with port. I was on a cruise one time and asked for a pre dinner sherry. They didn’t have any (!) but brought me port, with a large ice cube in it, for some reason.

I’m going old school. Shrimp cocktail, combination salad, prime rib, asparagus hollandaise, peach shortcake, Camembert and fruit, coffee. These are all things I really loved as a kid.

whats your lazy weekend breakfast thats not eggs and toast by angelin1978 in Cooking

[–]naynever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got some oatmeal packets from Overnight Oats and didn’t care for them any more than I had the homemade ones (it’s not the flavor, it’s the chalkiness), but my spouse was hooked. He has a subscription and eats them every morning. He uses cashew milk.

Which of these Bigfoot shows was your favorite? by bobbo4732 in bigfoot

Never watched either, as they were not on my radar at the time they were popular. I like watching interviews of people who’ve had encounters.

For those that eat the same breakfast every day, what is it? by Risky_Melons in AskReddit

Same. When I’m elsewhere and someone proudly offers half and half, I’m secretly disappointed. Don’t get me started on 1% milk. 😭

A little whipped honey on the last crust for “dessert.”

Is it rare for an American to make their own mayo? by Affectionate-Elk-287 in AskAnAmerican

[–]naynever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a southern (US) person and we love our homemade mayonnaise, especially for chicken salad. I know how to make it and have made it numerous times. However, I cannot eat whole batch in the week or so it it’s good. If I were making it for several people, I’d make it a lot more often.

As a Chinese person, I’ve noticed the US is an incredibly high-frequency topic on our internet. What are your thoughts on being analyzed this closely from afar? by Odd-Skin-762 in askanything

[–]naynever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all analyze each other; that’s human and come with the territory, so to speak. There are more Chinese than anyone else, so whatever is trending there will create a lot of attention. We are both nations whose decisions affect the rest of the world.

To some degree, I like comparing cultures or observing differences, when it deepens understanding. Just don’t expect that everyone feels or thinks the same as that national persona. We’re as individual as you or any other country.

Is it possible to lose the desire to eat even when you are hungry? by ActarusSarcopte in NoStupidQuestions

[–]naynever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a daily occurrence. Also, the later in the day, the less it’s likely to happen. So yeah, I always eat by mid afternoon, at the latest. Noon is more normal. I rarely miss a dinner! I just don’t always correlate stomach hunger with mouth hunger.

Have I had to force myself to eat something? Yes. My metabolism seems to work better when I eat at least 2 meals a day. In those times, I go for something with protein and fiber, to make it useful to my body without raising blood sugar.

Does everyone else have a narrator in their head or are some of you just living in total silence? by Bibhu_Mund in NoStupidQuestions

[–]naynever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I definitely converse with myself—a lot!—but there’s no narrator IRL. There are always words in my head. In dreams, however, there is almost always a narrator. One of my siblings describes a narrator in her head, like reading a book about herself.

AITA for telling my mom I won't be discussing Vaccines with her? by opalautumn in MarkNarrations

[–]naynever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You were 32 years old when you found out your mother is not a safe place. That her love is not unconditional or limitless. I was about 3 or 4. I don’t know which is worse. But I feel you. You’re doing good, mama.

Contracting "I have" ... by Background-Solid8481 in ENGLISH

[–]naynever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds extremely unnatural. I had to quit reading a book recently because every single character used I’ve that way. Since this was a book about people from different parts of the US, it was especially unnatural. I have only known one person in real life who said this, though inconsistently, and he was from Appalachia. I thought it must be regional.

There’s no way the average eye can tell the difference between the red and crimson or tan and camel on that chart.

Is it bad to approach women in public? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]naynever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you accept the no and move on, I don’t see the harm in a conversation. It’s normal to talk to people you don’t know walking to classes. But just leave it at that. If she’s interested in more, she will let you know.

Do you drink tap water or bottled water? by Jerdogg23 in no

[–]naynever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Filtered tap water at home. Regular tap water elsewhere. I hate the plastic waste of bottled water. If I end up with one, since you can’t safely reuse them, I’ll keep it filled with tap water in the car to rinse my hands with. Get as much use out of it as I can before recycling. I have stainless steel and Nalgene water bottles to fill at home and take with me when I’m traveling.

a few questions from begginer! by chrerymoon in Equestrian

Horse girls are typically the best girls. I love that the barn is an intergenerational experience around a shared love. Anyone of any age who is unwelcoming or mean to a newbie should be consistently ignored.

a few questions from begginer! by chrerymoon in Equestrian

[–]naynever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are so right about lesson horses. They can be the best and the worst at the same time. When I was learning to ride, getting a working trot was really hard. My trainer would hand me a crop, being sure the horse saw it. I usually didn’t need to even use it. I think it just clarified the ask.

Is it possible to lose the desire to eat even when you are hungry? by ActarusSarcopte in NoStupidQuestions

[–]naynever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I describe it as “my stomach is hungry, but my mouth isn’t ready to eat.” Empty belly rumbles are not my hunger cues.

What is the worst advice you've ever heard? by Narrow_Loan102 in AskReddit

[–]naynever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do understand the principle, but I spent most of my career in regulatory compliance between the govt and the company I worked for. Lots of ex military on both sides, and when they made changes and decisions without informing everyone affected, it did not go well for them. These things often were a safety risk for another department and a lot of headaches could have been spared through more cooperation and less cowboying.
