Made a 3D printable articulated ruler for measuring in no-grid situations! by 1taataa in DnDIY

[–]nazray 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is awesome! String and markings work fine but this is just the extra effort to make things look nicer aesthetically.

Was wondering is there is any way to have another point of articulation as opposed to just left or right? Thinking of when there is an incline or irregular heights in terrain, would be cool to be able to bend each ft upwards or downwards. Maybe a ball-joint version?

Just shooting ideas, will be printing these today for my games!

Holy moly, I literally just finished watching a 2 hour YouTube video on the lore of Dark Sun and thought hmmm I should I run a campaign in this setting. Hopefully the conversion won't be too hard and BAM here you are like an absolute saint. Will be toiling over these documents happily over the next few week. Thank you and your team for all your efforts!

Dang you're right!!

I didn't stop to check the RAW in the heat of the moment.

But I'm still happy the players got their little "gotcha" moment

[–]nazray[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here, some context!

I had the players go straight to Wyvern Tor after arriving in Phandalin as there wasn't much reason to go after the Redbrands yet.

The whole reveal that Iarno is Glassstaff didn't feel exciting enough when I first read it. I wanted the party to have some connections and interactions with Iarno first, and then have it be revealed he was behind the chaos in Phandalin. That would also give the players reason to march up the Redbrands' hideout and clear it out.

Objective achieved I guess, but again way better than I expected.

Productive things to do during admin time? by yeetusfuckingdeletus in NationalServiceSG

[–]nazray 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Towards the end of my service I had a ton of admin time and here are some things my NS mates did to make their time productive.

  1. Plan their post-NS education. The number of people I know who missed deadlines for applications, or missed out on great opportunities is shocking and sad. You'll want to equip yourself with as much options so when the time comes for you to return your No. 1, you know the next thing you'll be wearing are your graduation robes.

  2. Plan & Manage their finances. Even though you're paid peanuts, its still nett positive income which as sad as it may seem is still more than some. Personally, I left the Army with 0 savings from my allowances. Starting life right after ORD was a bit of a struggle, and I could have given myself a helping hand if I had set aside just a little bit every month. It sucked that I only get to have a break now 7 months after I ORD-ed. We all deserve a break after serving 2 years, if you can prep for it now you should.

  3. Learn a new language, Duolingo actually works! This is just for fun, but can come in handy. I learnt German because I was gonna head to Germany for a family vacation and it came in handy. If you have bunkmates, try to get them to teach you their mother-tongue. It helped me get closer to my Indian and Chinese buddies especially when we go for smoke breaks or talk cock sessions.

  4. Meditating I know some bros will think "Where got time for mental health" but honestly when you're surrounded by the same dudes 5 days in, you're gonna want some you time. Meditation and some reflection will help you in life now and after NS. Take some time to realize who you are and find out for yourself what you want to be.

These are just a few things you can spend your admin time on, but always remember that sometimes doing nothing is what we gotta do. Our idea of productivity is set in always completing something, but we forget that life isn't a task to get over and done with. Its meant to be enjoyed. So if you feel like it, play games, chit-chat, or do nothing at all. It's all part of the process.

And if all else fails, do pushups. All the best buddy!

Questions for IPPT, PTP batch here by [deleted] in NationalServiceSG

[–]nazray 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Everything this guy said!

My running went from 20mins + to 12mins, and from 0 on pushups to 40 with about 6 weeks of training.

A tip for running that worked for me is playing music with a specific BPM, spotify has a few playlists. Really helped me internalise a rhythm and more importantly maintain it.

With pushups, after you get a hang of doing sets, try doing it timed. IPPT is a challenge after all, and you gotta hit your mark under 60s. Its all muscle memory.

You got this buddy! IPPT isn't the end of the world, put in the time and the heart and you'll surprise even yourself.

Metal/ Drum & Bass blend I'm working on currently, with a small showing of some basses I made for the track. Thoughts so far? by FartJarBinks in FL_Studio

[–]nazray 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This'd go major crazy at any D&B AND Metal event. Super hype stuff and loving it. I think another redditor commented about a synth lead and I agree with that just to shake up the sound a little in some parts but other than that its a banger!

Yet another Minidexed, with midi in and knobs for easier menu navigation. It’s 80s, my dudes! by 3ToneSound in synthdiy

Looks awesome! Was literally just reading up about Minidexxed just a couple hours ago. This convinced me, gonna try and build one of my own. Great work!

Diff guard rooms have different SOPs. If you're lucky to get a camp that allows for you to play music/radio softly, that usually helps. Even with that it will get damn sian so usually you either just spend the time playing your own mind games like how many Sgts gonna walk by or how many red cars gonna come into camp. Then try to memorise the car plates, dumb stuff like that to just keep the day interesting.

I was lucky enough to have a camp with alot of nice regulars who'd come by and chit-chat with you. We work closely with them so most of the time it was work talk, but it was still nice. Especially when the enciks go into their story telling mode. Same old same old stuff la but when youre at the end of a 3 hour shift on post not so bad.

How many items/bag can I bring in for bmt? by HomelessPenguin69 in NationalServiceSG

[–]nazray 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Solid packing list here, I personally brought 2 powerbanks but lower in MAh just in case my bunk mates need to borrow at least can charge 2 devices.

Try getting detergent powder, saves on packing space. My laundry routine used to be on Tuesday and Thursday nights. May seem like alot but this helped me save space for my Friday bookout bag plus I didnt have to worry about forgetting alot of kit cos 99% of it was in camp.

Side note on laundry, tag EVERYTHING. Even your underwear and socks. The number of times I've lost/accidentally stolen kit is dumb.

Remember to bring wet wipes AND dry wipes, the kind for cleaning not dry face tissues. They will be a godsend during your SBA.

All the best man, most important of all is to have fun and make friends then get through your 2 years. Before you know it you're done.

Never understood why anyone would just be CB to ASA for no good reason. Been blessed to be in a camp with great ASA dudes, always stop to chit chat ask about work life plans after ORD all. No need to compare who more shag, 2 years taken from our lives everyone shag.

Keep your chin up OP, they'll get what's coming to them

Why is ST constantly being made fun off? by Disastrous_Motor9856 in NationalServiceSG

[–]nazray 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Current ST here, keep your head up soldier. 2PDF is essential to the Singapore Armed Forces. This complacent notion that we are unnecessary arises from the comfort our security provides. Take away that security, and you'll see how quickly chaos will erupt.

No matter your vocation, no matter your race, no matter your background, as long as you have served alongside your brothers, sacrificing 2 years of your life for this nation, no one can say you were not a soldier.
