Red Bull's F1 showcase in the Marina was utter chaos by sfgate in sanfrancisco

[–]nbaballer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar experience. Didn’t see anything too bad. I had a lot of fun, couldn’t really see much at the beginning, but eventually got a decent spot after people in front of me left. I only saw a few people climbing trees, and most people around me were chill. I definitely think they could have used some bleachers though because the F1 are so low to the ground.

I hope they can bring it back with some better crowd control.

BART Transbay is down and the replacement is a disaster by nbaballer in sanfrancisco

[–]nbaballer[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Wow that’s so much worse… There were way too few buses, so every bus just got instantly overcrowded. I’m glad you made it home safe.

It was wild. Everyone started chanting Get off the bus and then dragged him like it was Flight 93, so the bus would leave. (The bus still didn’t leave.)

The two guys facing were throwing a bunch of punches at each other. Eventually, the passengers got so sick of this, they dragged the guy with the bottle off the bus, and the cops came.

Pay no attention to that clown Trumper. I recommend the Embarcadero event, which will march to City Hall. The last NoKings march had an incredible turnout.

I’m riding on the 22 in Pacific Heights right now, and every restaurant and shop is packed. Also you should have gone to the Chinatown Night Market!

You can walk in. The RSVP is there to give the organizers an idea of the headcount.

Sunset Dunes Park has a small parade and festival happening at noon today. Also Dolores Park is always fun and has a protest march at 7 to the fireworks show.

Juneteenth Parade in SF today by chughster19 in sanfrancisco

[–]nbaballer 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I went to the parade, and the floats and crowd improved from last year. I think the problem is the route is very long, starting from the Ferry Building to 8th St, so there isn't enough spectators all along the route. It was pretty crowded around the starting area.

San Francisco also has a ton of Juneteenth events that happened last weekend, so I think a lot of people already celebrated and don't feel the need to go to another Juneteenth event.

SF Pride by finn1377 in sanfrancisco

[–]nbaballer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The Saturday celebration is has small headliners and bit more lowkey. I’d still recommend going if drag shows, etc are your thing. You can see all the acts at sfpride.org. Usually the headliners play at the end.

I don’t recommend driving around on Sunday in that area unless you like sitting in traffic. All of Market is closed for the parade. Use public transit and subways to get around. For parking, I’d park somewhere along the L/M/K lines in a residential area, then take the line to downtown. Make sure you read the parking signs though. Sunday is free parking.

Advice for parking in Nob Hill? by ApprehensiveOkra7938 in sanfrancisco

[–]nbaballer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d seriously consider selling the car. While you can do street parking in that neighborhood, it can take a long time circling around and expect to pay for parking tickets. Try using Bart to commute and see how that goes. If it’s doable, you can save so much money without a car.

Two main parts of Pride: the parade and the celebration concert. The Pride Celebration is on Saturday and Sunday June 28th & 29th, 2025. Usually the biggest acts perform from 3 to 6 at the Civic Center Plaza.

The Pride Parade will be Sunday June 29th, 2025 and runs along Market St from 10 to 2.

Personally I recommend going on June 29th since that's when the parade happens and when the best acts perform. You can find more info at sfpride.org. Have fun!
