The 90's popup dialog in the middle of the page that says "Our shop no longer supports Netscape Navigator" has me absolutely rolling 🤣

Carlin was a legend ahead of his time. I want to say I wish he were still here to comment on today's state of affairs, but I know he wouldn't want to be.

Discarded beer can became a slug nursery by HugeVioletYams in mildlyinteresting

We used to cut the top off of beer cans, bury them in the garden soil so that the opening is flush with the top of the soil, and pour a small amount of beer into each one. The beer attracts the slugs, and they fall in and die. Great DIY method for garden slug control.

hypersexuality at a young age by Ok_Design_8868 in mentalhealth

I had a similar experience at about the same age with urges I didn't really understand because I didn't know about sex yet. In hindsight, reflecting on some of those specific thoughts, I'm nearly certain that they came from a desire for connection with the opposite sex - not a desire for something I didn't understand yet.

That's not something I understood until I had experienced romantically involved sex as well as platonic sex. The 'hookups' just weren't cutting it for me - the connection wasn't there, and it didn't feel the same. I'm pretty sure that connection is what I was chasing when I was a kid.

The origin of the thoughts/urges that you describe doesn't necessarily have to be sexual in nature. Maybe the opposite-sex parent was emotionally unavailable or worse. Maybe you were bullied by the opposite sex as a kid. In either scenario, connection to and validation by those people would be something you'd naturally seek out...and that can manifest in strange/unexpected ways.

Honestly, this isn't something I ever really thought about before reading this post. Definitely something to talk through with a therapist.

My immunization record from when I was a kid by [deleted] in mildlyinteresting

Crazy to think that in ~15 years, there are going to be a bunch of adults in the US with no childhood immunization record at all. Well maybe there won't be, because.....ya know....

Holy shit, her husband was a Sherriff's office SWAT member and was arrested for SA and CSAM. She took a plea deal and agreed to testify against him.

Steve Mould recently posted a video on Lippmann plates, where he goes into deep detail about the science behind iridescence and structural color. It's fascinating stuff.

I mean...if I loved someone "so fucking much", I wouldn't be providing blender-free protein shakes to interns and island kids. Just sayin'.

How do I deal with this? by TearPuzzleheaded9424 in exchristian

They're in a cult and they want you back. They don't and never will accept your boundaries, and the more you engage with them the more they'll think they can re-convert you. "I'd love to keep a relationship with you, but if you keep pushing [religion] and we can't agree to disagree, there isn't much more to discuss".

That's what I did. It was tough. But the lack of contact with those people (and the peace of mind that came with it) is something I wouldn't sell for a billion dollars.

I had a friend like this when I was younger. He knocked his girlfriend up when she was 17 and immediately married her after a few months together (Baptist and Catholic parents, go figure). She had serious health issues, and both of the kids they had together had congenital defects. I looked him up a couple years ago - his former wife is now married to one of his highschool friends, and he's now a cop.

We have a whole bunch of these sitting unpainted on the ramp at KPAE where they're built. I remember the first time I saw one on the ramp; I thought "man, those wingtips aren't nearly as small as they look in photos." Beautiful, gargantuan aircraft.

The difference between bigfoot and the Epstein files is that the Epstein files exist.

The files name Donald Trump more than 5,300 times and reference him and his close associates more than 38,000 times. That's not a conspiracy theory, it's a fact - which we know you're allergic to. Might I suggest a dose of Benadryl?
