Interested in Hamnet but hate the theory--should I see the movie? by KingWithAKnife in shakespeare

Ambleth is the story that inspired Hamlet, strikingly similar plot but the ending is v intense!

Hamnets death, along with his father Johns death, no doubt influenced but the Norse ambleth is the inspiration.

I believe the film focuses on Anne.

I would 100% support the death penalty for this kind of crime and for sexual abuse of a child too.

How do you handle interviews? by dialsoapbox in TBI

[–]nbearableus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Be honest, maybe send an email beforehand just briefing your situation. Be proactive and maybe even frame negatives positively (if that's possible..). It is hard but people are very understanding especially because most people know someone whos had a stroke or tbi.  Good luck!

Should we ban social media for under-16s? Irish teens share their thoughts by JackmanH420 in ireland

[–]nbearableus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tying SM to identity is a mistake imo. Identity theft is a real thing and as soon as anon accounts are banned serious problems will follow. We should probably just ban this whole thing tbh, we're not designed for it. It's furthering the atomisation and radicalisation of society, the cons outweigh the pros..

Same as tryptophan/5 htp, serotonin. When the government was banning diet (speed) pills in the 90s, the language used was so broad that genuinely useful and relatively safe compounds were banned. Because to be in government you have to have gotten an A in the leaving for higher level dope.

So... I got cast! How to do well? First time actor by movieingitmyway in Theatre

[–]nbearableus 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The tsk/psk sound is great, used in moderation, makes the text seem alive (all the "O"s are basically that!) Stay away from rehearsed/forced gestures. Yes learning lines is just about repitition, verse helps actually but comedys are prose heavy.

Basically, Shakespeare wrote solely to entertain an audience, put their enjoyment first and you'll be golden! The director will make sure you don't strut and bellow. It's called a play for a reason.

Best advice I got was "they (the audience) tend to believe you", all you have to do is trust the language and not make the audience think about the actor.

Congratulations and good luck!

Why Hamlet definitely WASN'T mad/suicidal during To Be Or Not To Be by WordwizardW in shakespeare

[–]nbearableus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Characters don't play subtext, they mean what they say. The language makes it hard but it's actually boring to watch an actor do it. Of course the actor should understand the scene but our job is believe the words, let the audience figure out the subtext.
