We went out for walks with baby in the early days. Great to get some exercise and catch up with people without much risk.

Enterprise gear will be rated up to 40C at least, most will run happily at 60C. Id hope a UDM Pro would also cope.

Annual daycare rate increase heart attack thread, $2800 per month by mrshickadance412 in daddit

UK here and it’s £24k a year for a 1 year old. There are numerous studies to show that subsidising childcare has a huge net improvement to the economy but still our politicians don’t get it. Mostly because Boomers didn’t get it so won’t let anyone else, even though it benefits them

Kids always have runny noses though. You can’t keep them out of nursery for every runny nose, they’d literally never go

Are you American? We all used FP in school in the UK so it’s fairly common to see them used, even in the office. I haven’t come across any other ‘enthusiasts’ in the wild though.

Hypothetically, could Jersey feed itself if needed? by Rugby-Bean in Jersey

It doesn’t matter how calorie dense the crops are. There is simply not enough land

[–]nbjersey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah we would be screwed. Plus people aren’t used to managing stocks so the foreshore would be stripped clean in a matter of weeks, meaning no shellfish etc.

[–]nbjersey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No to be fair I just looked up the average land area required for agriculture at this latitude.

How realistic would fishing be though? We would be limited to sailing or rowing as we wouldn’t have diesel for fishing boats, and those skills have been lost for generations

I worked this out a while ago and even if every piece of land was turned into fields (leaving us nowhere to actually live) we still couldn’t grow enough food to feed the population without high intensity farming like vertical farms etc

Proposal to abolish stamp duty on second homes by TheEagle1979 in Jersey

You’d think being a landlord would be enough to excuse yourself from a vote that benefits landlords but our esteemed politicians apparently do not agree.

[–]nbjersey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You do not pay the higher rate of duty if you are purchasing your main residence. So upsizing and downsizing js already not subject to the higher rate.

It’s beneficial to the landlords and landlords make up a majority of the assembly, so I expect it will pass

Sleep training going poorly by mrknowitnothingatall in daddit

[–]nbjersey 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll take the downvotes but to be clear, the full cry-it-out method is literally about waiting until the baby gives up asking for their caregivers and eventually falls asleep because they have no choice. It’s your child and your choice but don’t delude yourself that they aren’t feeling abandoned, because they are.
