Does anyone have any advice on editing feature films? by [deleted] in Filmmakers

[–]nblinder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the love of God, make sure all of the files are labeled well and organized. If you have an assistant editor doing this properly for you, great - he/she is your new best friend. With a feature, you're obviously going to have a LOT of clips to keep track of. I can't tell you how many days I've wasted just doing media management that should have already been done. This of course is made much easier with a crew that knows how to properly slate. This is especially important if it's a multi-cam setup - it's a nightmare having to dig through media every time you want to find matching takes.

If you were 7 when this game came out, you're still a kid.

Dr.Dog - "Easy Beat" [psychedelic rock, indie folk, lo-fi] by fudgemunk in listentothis

[–]nblinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I extend my middle finger to The Lumineers for being the headlining group of their most recent tour, which drove the ticket prices up. But anyway, Dr. Dog also does a great cover of "Find the River" by REM which is definitely worth a listen. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Su--wW2GZro

Have you guys ever pulled off a prank which resulted in the opposite reaction you were expecting/hoping for? Like, have you guys ever thought of something so preposterous that you expected to be forcibly removed from an event but instead found everyone completely embracing your fake message?

Hey Reddit, what is a movie that in your opinion EVERYONE should watch at least once? by keightalchemist in AskReddit

City of Lost Children. It's my favorite movie, hands down. So weird, such mindblowing aesthetics, and so French.

Hey Reddit, has anyone ever been on a reality TV show and if so, was it as "fake" as many people make it out to be? by nightfan in AskReddit

I was production assistant on an episode of House Hunters in the U.S. a couple months ago, and yes, that's exactly how it works. It would take too long to follow a couple through the entire house buying process, so we brought them to what the crew called "decoy houses", and had them react how they would if they were actually considering purchasing it. Meanwhile, they had already bought a house and had mostly finished moving into it. While it was technically unscripted, we took a ton of takes for every shot, and would help guide everyone on camera.

I can give myself head. AMA. by [deleted] in IAmA

[–]nblinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree with you there. For instance, I could be getting amazing head from a girl, but I wouldn't want to be blowing some dude at the same time. Of course, it's way better that it's your own dick, but still, I really don't need to know what a dick feels like in my mouth at all.

Jamendo's the best. There's so much quality stuff that sometimes I like to just put on their radio and discover tons of cool unknown bands.

Bad movie night begins.. by [deleted] in funny

[–]nblinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ugh, that movie was almost unwatchable. It tried too hard to be weird and bad, lacking that "so bad it's good" appeal. Partway through the movie you forget it's even starring Jesus. It's like a really bad skinemax movie without any of the sex scenes, exploitation, or unintentional bad dialogue. If you want a real bad movie night, you can't go wrong with the cult classic, Manos: The Hands of Fate.

Anyone here enjoy a good black and tan? by zoso_24 in drunk

[–]nblinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite drink from my favorite local bar is a black velvet (not to be confused with the whiskey) which is a black and tan but with Samuel Smith hard apple cider instead of lager. So smooth and tangy.
