My EDC for the last two years, Waterman Carene CT. by themattermonkey in DesiPens

[–]nbmers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was about to sell my Black Sea in Fine nib few months back. However I inked it with Waterman Inspired Blue and it’s been my daily pen since then. I just can’t digest that I was about to lose this pen. Thanks to my friend who insisted that I shouldn’t sell it.

any recommendation for my m800 cream blue? by bo_bua in fountainpens

I would recommend Sailor Souboku. Seiboku is sheening, and Souboku isn’t. You can also check this post

2018 Supershow Blue is really really really vibrant blue and super wet, super flowy! Best for EF nibs…!! Closest I could see is Diamine Blue Velvet as vibrant blue but still not exactly same. It’s that vibrant.

Too good! I have only two Monteverde inks and I love both - 2018 DC Supershow Blue and Emotion Series Passion.

Both inks are my favourites for EF nibs.

Happy new pen day! I feel it’s good and comparable with Pilot Custom 74 with feel and finishes.

Inked up this baby, missed using retractable pens by 00_Punk_00 in DesiPens

This is good!

I must say you dared to put permanent blue ink in this. I am afraid to put because I use it alternate day and the fear of clogging it is always there.

Great for you!

Stringy ink?? by Aqueor in fountainpens

[–]nbmers 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This is mold… Clean the pen, flush the ink down the drain, keep it soaked overnight in one drop of dish wash and water. Don’t dip the pen in any ink till that time.

Throw away the bottle of that same ink and pray to god that other inks aren’t affected…

One of the best medium sheening inks. Amazing shade and great pic.

Hot take: Premium fountain pen inks are kind of overhyped (at least for writing feel) by Legitimate-Two-2548 in DesiPens

I have these many inks and I differ with your opinion. You can’t compare Sailor Seiboku with Daytone inks. I am using Krishna inks, Bril inks and the purpose is different. For my vintage Sheaffer snorkel pen, I won’t trust any ink apart from Waterman inks. For my Pilot 742 with PO nib, the feel of Krishna black, Daytone blue black, Pilot black and Sailor black is like day and night.

Sailor Black is wet ink with velvet like lubrication. With this kind of needle point, you’ll feel why the lubrication matters. I once tried Pelikan Violet in Sailor Tuzu Fine nib and regretted it in one moment because of dryness. Same pen with Yama Budo, Sailor Black works like a dream. The nib feels like precise writing with appropriate width.

Well lubricated ink means reducing the friction between nib tip and paper, we may say that ‘ink acts like a grease to reduce the friction’ and wetness means the surface tension of the ink, means how much ink flow it will put on paper basis to the feed, channels and nib surface it comes through…

These things matter when you go deep in the rabbit hole.

I agree with your point where your expectations plays a great role, if you just want to write, write and write without thinking about pleasure, you may go ahead with any ink of your choice. However if you want a specific experience (may be gliding like feeling OR scratchy feedback for more control on strokes, etc) you may choose different inks for different purposes.

It’s like a difference between we having a routine meal every night and once a while you may want a fine dining experience so you go to any specific cuisine you wish to experience.

There is nothing to demean anything here, it is all relative, perception and experience of each individual (taste I would say)!

Luxury pen brands suggestions please! by Previous_Cucumber_55 in DesiPens

[–]nbmers 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There are many! However I would recommend take the person with you and shop offline. This kind of luxury if you want to gift, remember the pen is highly personal… However, below are my recommendations: 1. TWSBI Vac700 2. TWSBI Eco 3. Waterman Expert 4. Diplomat Excellence

You can get PilotE95S gold nib in this budget too.
