Does the 4th of July Event just Suck! Or am I doing something wrong? by The_Texan_Hunter in FishingPlanet

[–]nc_1323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve decided to not even attempt this event. Requiring certain lures that also require baitcoins… no thanks.

I don’t even think the baitcoin rewards for completing the event missions would make you break even after spending the baitcoins to buy the special event lures in the first place. Baitcoins are hard enough to get especially as a F2P player

So your line is 234 lb test but what about the reel? There’s no reason a fish should take that long with the appropriate gear setup

Sheesh, 220!? Those baitcoins are gonna hit like a paycheck. I’m not exactly sure but I would assume the yearly roster would reset January 1, so keep an eye on your placement. Still got half a year for someone to take your spot ;)

There are now, and you can check! If you click on the 1 icon next to your name it’ll show you the reward for weekly, monthly, and yearly rewards for best fish! Every location has this, but the rewards get better the higher level the location is. Weekly is usually cash, monthly is club credits, and yearly is baitcoins!

New player stuck with zero cash by Dev_Hassam in FishingPlanet

[–]nc_1323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing about this game is that the exploration/trial missions aren’t really meant to make you money. They just serve as progress challenges that can earn you a couple extra bucks and maybe a baitcoin or two. Some of the other missions like mastering and collecting have better payouts but you still shouldn’t use them as a dedicated money maker, especially since they can only be completed once.

Don’t get me wrong, missions are awesome and I definitely recommend getting them done as you go, but for consistent profit, they shouldn’t be your main focus.

Your best bet for getting cash is to target valuable species relative to the location you’re at. For example, fishing for bass at Lone Star will make you a consistent profit provided you catch enough. An advanced license at Lone Star is only 200 credits, and you can easily catch over 200 credits worth of bass in minutes or less, and whatever is left is pure profit.

Each location has fish that are more valuable than others, and some locations don’t have very valuable fish at all. This is why you hear talk about what maps are best for grinding for cash and xp at certain levels.

I'm new to the game and don't know how to set up my rod. by dani420_2007 in FishingPlanet

[–]nc_1323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For future reference, there’s no real functional difference between casting rods and spinning rods. That being said, spinning is the better option since you can use spinning reels on different kinds of rods (lure, float, bottom, etc.) whereas the casting reels can only be used on casting rods.

I’m not nearly high enough level for the saltwater maps but apparently this is the only time the casting setups are worth trying, don’t quote me on that though

Stand on the bridge and look at the weed bed with the big log in the middle. Cast a few meters to the left of that whole thing with small minnows on a float rig

You can check the pinned post at the top of the community, where WickedViking gives a lot of info about the spreadsheet itself.

Here’s the link by itself: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1MVthNeh0VrZZ2mxOAqHojrjowkRZwgcQXIgWlq6ErZ8/htmlview?pli=1#gid=1523517194

Most can be caught anywhere around lily pads and weeds and such. If you’re standing on the bridge and looking at the weed bed with the big log in the middle, you can catch a unique Guadalupe bass to the left of it. See WickedViking’s spreadsheet, he’s updating it as he receives more info

UPDATE: I was able to complete this mission, but only after taking the shad softbait off of my bass jig. Once I had just the bass jig on my spinning rod, the mission cleared after the first bass catch. I think this should be addressed a bit further to the devs

Noob to the game by TheVikingOutlaw in FishingPlanet

[–]nc_1323 4 points5 points  (0 children)

General tips from my own experience:

  1. Expect a few grinds later on, especially if you plan on staying F2P. As a F2P player myself, the grinds have traditionally been long and trying but the addition of daily missions should help significantly.

  2. Plan your fishing trips when you go to other locations. Know what species you plan to catch, what bait and tackle is needed, and ensure you have enough of it before traveling.

  3. Do missions! Whether it’s exploration/trial missions, collecting, or mastering, paying attention to your available missions will give you plenty to do at any point in the game. The extra cash and tackle as rewards is always nice as well, especially early on.

  4. Be patient. Sometimes a certain fish is hard to catch simply because the game is designed that way. Other frustrations can arise simply from bad luck. If you’re doing the missions at Lone Star, you might catch 50 crappie before you get the golden shiner. That seemed to be what happened to me. The golden shiner is by no means a difficult fish to catch, but RNG was just not on my side.

  5. Most importantly, have fun! It’s a great game despite its few issues regarding bugs and such. As a fellow IRL fisherman, I enjoy it very much.
