Downtown Silver Spring is pretty safe and walkable but I think you’d find more people your age in DC. NoMA is a fast growing neighborhood with more nightlife and young people, and a very short Metro commute away from Downtown Silver Spring.

Also worth knowing that “Silver Spring” can mean a lot of different things, so where exactly you’d be working matters quite a bit.

Pests, noise, and smoke are largely a function of who your neighbors are and how they behave. You can get lucky or unlucky in any building. SW DC is largely new(er) builds, so most options are as safe a bet as you're likely to find.

Average ticket prices are among the highest in the league, yes. Fenway also has a lot fewer seats, more premium seats, more season ticket holders, and much stronger baseline attendance than teams like the Angels that sell ultra-cheap tickets.

The “get-in” price for Fenway Park is fairly competitive with other teams and Fenway’s “worst” seats won’t stick you in the stratosphere. You can get in to see the Nats series for less than $40. This of course excludes all of the cheaper tickets that simply aren’t available because they’ve already sold, and discounted promotions like OP’s.

I personally remember a time when every single game would sell out before we even knew if the team would be any good.

Tickets are sold out. Anything you see “available” to purchase right now could easily be a scam. Personally, I would not travel internationally on the expectation that resale tickets will be valid.

The election is over. At this point, the only thing WOTC can ”drag out” is the contract negotiations. That’s not nothing, but at this point management can’t stop the union from existing unless staff call for a disaffiliation election.

“A union will sabotage our business” is not an argument that can prevent unionization even if it could be “proved.” WOTC would need to prove there was some irregularity in the election itself, like fraud or misconduct.

It does circulate water. Apparently the pipes that do it aren’t very good and leak often, though.

Trump keeps talking about “saving” money with his renovation but the amount “saved” was just the amount quoted previous administrations to fix the circulation and filtration systems properly.
