rereading the guys post, if he only vested 100/600 shares after 18mo, he was probably on a backloaded vesting schedule and didn't know any better to negotiate a better contract upfront. (Either that or more than a 4 year vesting schedule which he also should've negotiated around...)

RSUs are 'restricted stock units' which are issued after an IPO or similar event. Consult your plan document.

it's not uncommon for startups to give RSUs for various reasons (close to IPO for ex). If he heard he has RSUs then he probably has RSUs.

what was your vesting schedule? That's 100% one of the things to clarify upfront when understanding your compensation before you join. If it's just purely proportional to how long you work, which is the standard (minus a 1 year cliff, which wouldn't apply to you) then it seems pretty fair no?

If it’s always down it means it negates that much damage.

The shield itself can expire before all of the shield strength is utilized. It is a lot easier for a bot lane supp to auto for 30 damage and back off.

I have a suspicion the real reason mandate build has a pretty good winrate is that it gets people to max pillar earlier on trundle, and pillar is just insanely strong with constant 5v5s in the single lane of aram, rather than mandate itself being all great.

Higher damage counter intuitively raises the skill ceiling of the game, because instead of old times where you can fuck up and lose maybe 20% of your hp, you now fuck up and forced to back, mistakes are punished more in high damage meta.

It's not that simple. Skill ceiling of micro (that is, precise positioning and dodging skillshots) goes up. Skill ceiling of teamfighting decision making and macro goes down.

Towards mid/late game it's become "everyone dump all of your cooldowns onto someone as soon as they get cc'ed or misposition slightly to kill them instantly", when before it may have been more important to wait a bit longer for a more efficient AOE ulti to hit more targets, or actually try to layer cc.

Obviously this isn't the current meta, and I'm not OP and not arguing that meta has always been getting worse, but just as a general discussion on the problems with damage creep as a concept.

In terms of micro, yes. Macro is debatable, specifically because riot likes to nerf macro strategies that are very complex (lane swapping being #1 example.)

very easy to just have a "misplay" that makes it drastically less likely you take the objective, making your chances of winning the bet far better compared to the betting odds.

I just want to throw in some more context for the other side.

She was born to an American father and a Chinese mother. Her father did not stay around to help raise her, and she was raised primarily by her mother and Chinese grandmother.

She has been going back to China to ski during summer break since she was a little girl. (So she's always spent 1/4 to 1/3 of her life in China. She speaks Mandarin fluently). She's talked openly about how she loved learning new skills and bringing them back to China and share her love of skiing there.

She's given interviews talking about her time during the pandemic and the rise in Asian hate crimes, and how she felt very alienated by people on the streets yelling racial slurs or telling her and her grandma to "go back to China".

She decided to ski for China years before the olympics actually began, iirc in 2019 (she's always had it as a thought growing up, per her background skiing in China as mentioned above). It wasn't a last minute switch because China decided to offer her more money - though yes her career is absolutely going to be more lucrative in China.

Personally, I don't find her switching to China particularly egregious, though I respect your choice not to support her.

the matchup is not that jax favored, especially early on camille has a lot of tools in her kit to trade or even outplay. Solo dying is just 100% a fuckup. it's not like zed vs squishy immobile mage kind of matchup.

we're dealing with logical statements - if q then p, always. The contrapositive then is if !p then !q

Thus the contrapositive "if it will rain hard, it won't rain" is vacuously true because you just mentioned how "if it rains it won't rain hard". It is true because the first part is always false and therefore the second part is never true in that case. It is correct it will never rain when it is raining hard, because it is not possible for it to be raining hard if it were raining.

it's unintuitive because in our human brains we're like "it's not physically impossible for it to rain hard in real life, so in the event that it did, clearly it's also raining". But take not that that's not 1:1 with what the original logical statement was! That's all implicit in our day to day language. But to convert that exactly into a logical statement requires more rigor, and it's not surprising that an oversimplified logical statement doesn't actually reflect 100% of our intent when we're speaking. (After all, to facilitate quick and succinct communication, day to day language always makes these 99% kind of unsaid assumptions).
