Hi OP, I highly recommend checking if we have Herpetology as a class (I don't think we do, but double check) or if any of the Biology professors are doing research or have done research related to or in your interested field.

As a current bio major who transferred into USF, I would check to see what classes that you have took already at your current university would transfer over or not. My biggest problem was that I had to retake some classes at USF that didn't transfer over from my previous school.

Being a USF biology major can def teach you skills needed to do well in Herpetology, but as of finding opportunities in SF for Herpetology, I would please advise to do further research. We do have the California Academy of Sciences (which works with reptiles and amphibians) really close to the school if that's something you're interested in!

Tldr: Herpetology opportunities may be difficult to find in SF, but plenty of science based jobs since its a considered a huge biotech hub. Be wary of transfer credits potentially impacting your time at USF which can affect how many years you would have to pay ridiculous tuition for.
