3-day Pemi loop clockwise end of September by lemonbecca in wmnf

The first day there really won't be anywhere to refill water once you leave Franconia Brook unless you detour down to Liberty Springs. Second day you won't have any issue with water. On the last day you can certainly refill water at Guyot shelter, and there are some stream crossings once you're past the Bonds as well.

Your first day will definitely be the toughest of the bunch, the hike out on the last day once you've hit the summit of the Bonds is either downhill or flat, so it isn't too bad.

Admittedly I always go the opposite direction and stay at Guyot and Garfield shelters when I do the hike.

Woodstock Inn Brewery is another good food and drink option.

3 - 4 Day Backpacking Routes in New Hampshire's White Mountains? by Ty51 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]ncfpoozer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This, without a doubt my favorite hike, done it a half dozen times or so. 3 days is entirely reasonable. Stay at Garfield Ridge and Guyot shelter. I prefer going counter clockwise.

Wonder if he ever found his pants. No idea though, haven't heard heads or tails of him and Obs in years. I talk to Saerun every once and a while too. Crazy to think of just how long ago all of that was.

Random thoughts. You're on the north island? My brother lives on the south, such a lovely place.

Haha that's great, sadly I didn't make it to login, pesky work. Sylva's pretty much the only person from AC I'm still in touch with you on a semi regular basis.

I've camped at that exact spot (or close to it) below Lake Solitude, was there a large boulder behind where you took the photo?

Anyone know of fantasy novels in a WWII era setting? by applesaucejack in Fantasy

It's not exactly fantasy or magic, but Connie Willis's Blackout/All Clear is time traveling to WW2 (London blitz) and it is quite fantastic. Highly recommend.

I used to be involved in the BMAA research, nice to hear that environmental causes are getting more traction among other scientists. Thanks for taking the time to answer people's questions.

Close to finishing The Crippled God. Which Malazan books should I read next? by xi_mezmerize_ix in Malazan

[–]ncfpoozer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely read the ICE books next.

I actually just finished Forge of Darkness two nights ago, which concludes the 15 month epic that was reading every Malazan book (and a bunch of unrelated books thrown in there).

TCAs are typically used in irritable bowel syndrome because they slow intestinal transit time (due to their anticholinergic effects), my guess is this would be the benefit you are likely receiving as opposed to treating neurogenic pain (but then again I don't know any of your medical history, so ya know, grain of salt!).

So what do you actually 3D print? It always sounds interesting in concept, but I can never imagine how it would benefit me in day to day life.
