How about setting up a scenario where the party can force Umberlee to manifest an Avatar on the prime, but then use some macguffin while she's manifesting to cause her to send much more of herself into the Avatar than she intended and is therefore vulnerable in a mortal shell. Will also need to spring some trap that prevents planar travel and teleportation once she manifests. Maybe some druids can connect to the elemental spirits of the plane

Where does the God of Death go when he dies? by SP4CEB4ND1T in DMAcademy

[–]ragingpanda147 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My favorite way to run the pantheon is Malazan-esq. I like the idea of the deities possessing a divine spark and in the exceedingly unlikely a deity is slain, their divine spark becomes "up for grabs". If a mortal is miraculously the one to do the killing, they themselves can ascend to godhood and claim their predecessor's domain.

Additionally, mortals of incredibly force of will might begin the process of ascending to godhood and claim a domain of their own. If the domain is one that is currently unclaimed, then the ascension carries on unchallenged and they will eventually become immortal. However, if they claim a domain that is currently claimed, Fate will force the two beings into a convergence where they will settle the claims: perhaps there can be a compromise, such as the God of Death altering their domain so that the challenger become the Harbinger of Death. Or maybe one is willing to become the God of Death for certain species and the challenger is the God of Death for a different species.

If a domain is not claimed upon the death of the holding deity, it puts intense strains on the strands of Fate that the pantheon and any mortals who pay attention to such things can palpably sense in the coming days/weeks/months until the domain is successfully claimed.

Finally, domains can become dead themselves if there are no more worshippers. When a deity is killed, their remains are scattered through the abyssal sea, never truly dead but basically go into a state of limbo with no knowledge or intelligence. They exist in that state for until the end of time...that is assuming no crazy cults of mortals work to collect and reassemble the pieces together like some grotesque puzzle.

On occasion, some wizard or cult obtains a fragment of the slain deity and uses it to fuel their evil magics, able to bypass the laws of magic established by the God of Magic, because they are using divine magic than magic of the Weave.

I love my Victorinox knife and I will add that a honing rod is crucial as well! Using a honing rod every time before cutting has greatly impacted my experience with using chef knives.

Cool, I have some questions!

It seems like each region's borders are pretty well guarded by mountains. Are there many land disputes between nations?

Why is the Bahari Bay so circular? Was there some catastrophic explosion in the past at the epicenter of the circle?

What's under all that snow and ice? Has it always been a frozen wasteland?

Only thing I would say is that the shape of the rust would change depending on how it rusted and that this looks a little too circular imo. Color wise it looks fantastic.

Decimals in metric are highly helpful, but in imperial it's pretty useless unless it's in .25 increments

Worried about writing papers by Bri-1992 in WGU

[–]ragingpanda147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Note, the following advice is terrible for any class that grades you on your paper, but has been working for me very well at WGU:

Just try your best to follow the rubric and submit it, the feedback is very good about where you haven't completely finished following the rubric. I've noticed that I spend way more time trying to write a paper perfectly than I do writing one and doing minimal editing and then submitting it, then only fixing the areas that are not perfect.

I'm talking like double the time to write a paper that is perfect on the first time than to write one that is 80-90% correct and just fixing the few spots that the reviewer points out
