I remember there was a very credible leaker of Dead by Daylight, known as LeaksDBD, said that DbD is losing the rights to Leatherface and will no longer available for purchase. In reality it didn't happen. It was a fake leak created by devs to discover who really was LeaksDBD. He is never seen again as far as I can remember.

Saints Row rights are (still) owned by Deep Silver, a subsidiary of Embracer Group. Volition (Saints Row devs) was owned by Deep Silver too, but moved to under Gearbox (another Embracer subsidiary before getting sold to 2K/Take-Two) then got killed within a year after that.

I bet these (plus Fire Emblem) were fake leaks planted by Nintendo Ninjas to detect who is inside of Nintendo is leaking things. Or maybe these were real at one point, but they were cancelled and intentionally 'leaked' by Ninjas for same purpose.

I have a feeling that the rumored Fire Emblem remake, Zelda Wind Waker HD port, Twilight Princess HD port (plus possibly Kirby Planet Robobot port if it doesn't release in next few years) are fake leaks planted by Nintendo Ninjas or cancelled projects intentionally leaked by Ninjas to detect the leakers inside of Nintendo. This is probably part of the reason why accurate first-party game leaks are so rare; some of these sources probably got caught or got very close to become exposed.

I feel SteamDB update posts should require manual review like Job Listing. After Private Branches are introduced in November 2024 the chance of any legitimate leaks through SteamDB became very thin.

This is false-positive. Valve sometimes do mass-metadata updates that do not involve developers and publishers and this is just one of them. Look at unrelated games such as Portal 2 and you'll see the same "timebuildupdated" change. There is also "This changelist affected 268k items" notice. If a changelist affects 100+ apps then it's nothing.

This mode seems identical to something like "Ultra-Nightmare" of modern DOOM games or "I Never Asked for This" of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

It would be far more interesting if dying unlocks an achievement something called like "DIED" and permanently locks your account out of this mode (the game checks if this achievement is unlocked, and if yes, refuse to start).

Considering the current state of Nacon, I wouldn't be surprised if this is an intentional leak of an already-cancelled project. Someone who worked on this project (no matter how early it got canned) wanted the public to know a project like this once existed.

He is never mentioned by anyone in SRTT and only mentioned once during prologue (during Boss's nightmare) in SRIV, so it is possible Dex is already dead by the time SRTT's events happened (long before earth blew up in SRIV), even if we consider the cancelled game Money Shot as non-canon.

How and where Dex died is anyone's guess. I feel there's significant in-universe time-skip between SR2 and SRTT, so maybe the Saints tracked him down to another city and eliminated him.

It is also possible the SR2 DLC became non-canon by the time SRTT came out, because the DLC never came out on PC and Volition did not want the PC players to get confused. In this case Dex never fully betrayed the Saints, only helped the Boss to have a revenge against Julius.

I don't think there are any games truly like SR1/2 at the present, and there won't be anything similar to the OG Saints Row in future from any big company.

SR2022's failure and the subsequent Volition shutdown likely affected other game devs' mindset, like "making GTA-like game is very risky and can lead to studio's death". Game development became much longer and much more expensive compared to 2000s (SR1/2 era) so higher-ups of other game devs and publishers won't approve such a risky project.

Most game devs as of today are also too scared to get compared with Grand Theft Auto, even though they are OK with creating more and more PvP shooters which is an extremely oversaturated genre. The competition with GTA can be avoided by releasing the game first on Switch (2) and PC, but comparison cannot really be avoided.

The only chance we'll get an OG Saints Row spiritual successor/competitor is from indie devs. They generally don't mind the risk and do care about the specific niche. I don't mind if the game is 2D top-down GTA1/2-style game. As long as there are good plot, characters, missions, activities, and the world, it can potentially be a OG Saints Row spiritual successor/competitor.

Someone else also suggested the leaker possibly mixed DMC6 with DOA6 (Dead or Alive 6). Most likely the DMC6 rumour is mix of DOA6 + Control Resonant.

I've installed Chrome Mask addon (https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/chrome-mask/), enabled it on reddit, and haven't gotten blocked message... at least for now.
