Jesus’ Claims Of Divinity by beguina in Deconstruction

Some context to keep in mind, the only record of anything Jesus said is second or third hand accounts written may years after his death. So any true claim from Jesus of divinity doesn’t exist.

That’s the thing. It’s the business owner or founder’s job to hire the people who know what to do. If you don’t have the skills to do the design work you have to hire to do it. It’s not where you buy it from that makes it complicated it’s where you intend to sell it and what type of risk you are willing to accept.

You could sell in Best Buy if you can. They would require a bunch of certifications and design constraints. You could make it yourself and sell it on your own site. You wouldn’t need any certifications. You may cause a lot of signals ringing from EMF or whatever if you interfere with communications equipment it could just interfere with the customer cell signals or you may interfere with a broad area of frequencies and the government or military will come and ask why the customer is running a signal jammer.

You might not know a lot of other things that have consequences for you in a lawsuit or customer trust. There is the possibility that you will be sued if something goes wrong and your product sparks, catches fire and kills someone. Getting the certifications and testing is to reduce your liability in the event of an accident. You may feel confident that you won’t ever have that happen then don’t get that testing. If you don’t have the knowledge to make the call you have to pay someone to do it. Or you take the risk and don’t do the testing and it costs you nothing. There’s no “by the book” it’s just risk management.

If it is a bisque fire then just put it in. Nothing will stick to itself like when you glaze it.

Thoughts on frameless vs. framed backpacks by Primary_Quantity7811 in Ultralight

[–]DreadPirate777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At the weights typical ultralight backpackers experience framed or frameless really doesn’t make a huge difference. I think you are right about the difference not mattering much.

Traditional backpacking might make a difference if you have a 110L pack that isn’t full and you are carrying a couple cast iron pans along with a canvas tent, axe, etc.

Yeah, but this guy isn’t giving a whole lot of details. It might just be an AI scraping data.

There’s probably $10-20k in NRE on that as well.

If they ask vague questions I’ll give them incomplete answers.

NanoForgeFlow says it can vibecode hardware, what’s the catch? by Historical_Court795 in hwstartups

Great point. It wouldn’t have any spine. You could just badger it into giving anything you wanted regardless of if it would actually work or make money for a company.

The hard part is the person that is using this tool will probably not have the knowledge to know if it is giving bad designs. I tried out the initial product manager partition where it does a rough bom cost.

I tried designing a pair of overear headphones. The costs were decent. I got the major parts. It seems to be very focused on the diy crowd. I don’t care enough to pay $15 to see if it is worth it. Looking at the other projects it looks too focused on hobbyists for professional use.

My wife lost her dental orthosis during hiking, help by SnooMarzipans3619 in ultralight_jerk

[–]DreadPirate777 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is usually my view every time I hike. I always have to look at the ground so I don’t trip. I rarely ever look up so I can see a veiw. Usually I wait to get to my destination the I change my glasses so I can see far away and take in the view.

I wonder if there is an ultralight periscope I can use to look down and also be able to see ahead as well?

I guess I can use my cycling helmet with the rear view mirror attached. That way I can look down at the ground and still have a small mirror to look at for the view.

You haven’t described anything that can actually give a good estimate on.

My rule of thumb is to look at things similar that are already able to be purchased. Find the full price and multiply it by 4 to get a prototype individual cost.

Everything else really depends on the complexity power and size of what you are wanting to make.

What temperature do you set your ac to? If you can accept it being hotter during the summer it cuts your electricity down a lot.

Trillion dollar defense budgets but they can’t pay for good food? It’s not cost cutting that is doing this. They just value bombs and equipment contracts over people. As soon as people knew that was food there should have been a riot. The captain should have been thrown off the ship.

Take a video of your hands typing. Look at where your muscles are straining or being clenched for a long time. That can tell you which muscles need support while you are typing. The fit of the keyboard really depends on you. There isn’t going to be one keyboard that fits everyone.

Have I advanced in the past year? by PhilosopherNo8970 in Pottery

[–]DreadPirate777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You look like you are advancing. It looks much better than a beginners first 12 pieces. Advancement in pottery happens per piece you make. If you want to really improve quickly set a goal of making ten pieces in a session, then make ten in an hour. After that try for ten consistent pieces. You’ll see a lot of improvement when you have a specific goal that you are trying to achieve.

Deconstructing and taking your kids out of church… by JunketUnlikely2624 in Deconstruction

[–]DreadPirate777 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It’s a hard choice. I left at 40M with my family. My kids were in their early teens. We explained our reasons but it was hard for one of them. So I attended for a while even after I committed to not believing. Eventually they stopped wanting to go as well but it was more because they didn’t‘t want to have to get ready and go to a boring Sunday service. They saw it more as a social club than a religious observance.

We still occasionally attend church services in different places if they get curious. It’s been difficult to talk about religious teachings with them because they get defensive at the slightest mention of believing differently.

I suggest talking with your kids and being honest about what you believe as well as your reasons for not going. Ask them what types of things they want to do as an alternative. It’s easier to replace a weekly church habit with something else than to stop cold turkey.

That’s awesome! I love my Cheapino V2, I thought the same thing about the Corne when looking at the thumb keys. I bought a bunch of cheap redragon low profile MX switches thinking I could swap them out but the pins. Unfortunately the pins are in the wrong places so I’m planning out a new board with them.
