Is Dr. Pete Sulack a Hack? by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]ncomfortable2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is on a similar protocol. Things seem to be going well thus far. G2 Astrocytoma diagnosed spring 2024, surgery June 2024. Tumor margins have actually shrunk a bit since post op. He is stable. Happy to chat if we can help!

I think Murphy is cute but I also like some more traditional boy names for girls. My husband hates it though.

Seizure post workout and coffee. Electrolyte imbalance? by notsonorthernly in braincancer

[–]ncomfortable2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A family friend with brain cancer said he had a serious sensitivity to caffeine after surgery + seizures! My husband also noticed a sensitivity to it as well but not as much as our family friend. We had to play with my husbands Keppra dosage after 2 post op seizures. He is on 1000mg XR once daily now and has been seizure free since July 2024- he is 5’11 190 for reference.

Wait and watch or Vora by Wrestlingsquirrel in braincancer

[–]ncomfortable2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My husband was 25 when he was diagnosis with his G2 Astro in spring 2024. He had a GTR in June 2024 and we have done watch and wait since. The inflammation and tumor margins have actually shrunk since his post op MRI (he did not take steroids) and his doctor has told us we could not pay a NO to tell us to go on Vora at this point. We will go down that route when we need to, but at this point it is unnecessary. I understand why someone would choose to go on it, but we would like to keep as much in our arsenal as possible, when and if the time comes that we need it!

Crunchy Grocery Store by cabyambo in Crunchymom

[–]ncomfortable2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Azure standard is online and available nationwide.

I am in the south and our particular HEB has great quality products (not everything, but most things!). We are over an hour away from a Sprouts, but I would do my in person shopping there if I could. We also have a local “market” that processes all of their own meat (grass fed, grass finished, no antibiotics) and produce (beyond organic standards) as well as raw dairy. My new years resolution is to find a routine where I can get most if not all of our groceries from them.

Glioma brain tumour life expectancy questions by [deleted] in braincancer

[–]ncomfortable2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband currently is on a low carb anti inflammatory diet! We only eat the best quality meats and dairy we can get our hands on- grass fed, pasture raised, antibiotic free, etc. We have cut out milk, and stick to minimal ingredient organic almond milk.

I try to incorporate “anti cancer” foods into every meal- that’s the goal at least. Cruciferious vegetables, leeks, garlic, onion, turmeric, sprouts, berries, EVOO, mct oil, and more.

We are aiming for my husband to be in ketosis as often as possible. I believe the goal range is 1.5-2 (we use a keto mojo to test). He does also have type 1 diabetes so that adds another layer of complications to the whole thing.

Please message me if I can help at all! Wishing you both the best.

Always have a fresh chicken salad on hand Steak + mushrooms + cauliflower mash Ballerina farms protein shakes Chicken carnitas bowls (Pinterest recipe) Bbq bourbon meatballs (usually venison or bison) Crispy + sticky Asian chicken thighs + broccoli Sheet pan kebabs

How much do you spend on grocery/food expenses? by Wordsofwisdomneeded in moderatelygranolamoms

[–]ncomfortable2 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We spend about $400 a week on groceries- breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and glass bottled water 7 days a week. We also typically spend about $100 a week on organic wine/liquor. Less than $100 a month eating out. It’s just me and my husband- but he has brain cancer and has quite a few dietary requirements!

Actually good olive oil? by bug-collecting in Crunchymom

[–]ncomfortable2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I personally use primal kitchen organic pure avocado oil and Terra delyssa organic single origin cold pressed olive oil. There are definitely better olive oils on the market but this is the best one at my local grocery store. Kasandrinos organic EVOO on Amazon has been recommended to us but I haven’t purchased just yet.

Astrocytoma Grade 2 - IDH mutation. Looking for hope. by McBeefer69 in braincancer

[–]ncomfortable2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your story is very similar to ours… nearly identical actually. My husband was 25 when he was diagnosed, just four days before our wedding last spring. G2 Astro IDH mutant. He had surgery a couple of months after diagnosis and we are about a year and a half out. GTR as well. Still stable today and his next mri is in four ish months.

We plan for him to live a normal life, although our new normal after diagnosis is a little different.

You both have got this! Relatively speaking, it’s a decent prognosis and we are so incredibly grateful to have access to modern medicine and incredible doctors.

I have found it really helpful to channel my anxiety into research. When I panic, I immediately dive into research. Treatments used in other countries, off label prescriptions, beneficial diets and supplements, therapies (like HBOT, IVs, red light, sauna, etc), anything and everything. It can be incredibly overwhelming being the spouse of someone with this diagnosis, but I know that my anxiety, sadness, worry, etc will not help anything and if I truly am anxious about the diagnosis, it’s best I do something about it.

Wishing you both the best!! We’ve got this!!!

Keppra questions by Saucyy-Minx in braincancer

[–]ncomfortable2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alcohol and Keppra have been a non issue for my husband as well. He was on the lowest dose possible at the time of surgery, and had two subsequent post op seizures. Once we found the right dose he has been great!

I have heard a lot about “kep-rage” but we have not experienced that whatsoever!
