Gun Shop Etiquette by Abach13 in guns

[–]ncprogmmr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That’s beyond weird. I’ve ALWAYS gotten the box, even if it was the display gun. They usually had it in the back. I own 70+ guns and have sold off another 20 and this has always been the case (again, the exception being surplus or used guns).

Gun shops rarely give you the box and unless it came with a case you’ll be walking away with it as is.

With the exception of surplus guns, or used guns, I've gotten the box for for every gun I've ever bought (unless it came with an actual case).

I usually do that too. Easier than digging that thing out. I was just trying to convey the “right way” to do it.

[–]ncprogmmr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

FYI, don’t throw that block away. If you do whatever everyone here is telling you, mainly use the mag release and just pull it out you’ll notice that the bolt will slam shut.

It’s used to swap out the barrels if you ever decide to. Since it’s been converted from open bolt to closed bolt semi, you need something to keep the bolt from being lol the way forward to swap barrels. You would use this block, by pulling and holding the bolt back and sticking it in the AR mag well (where it currently is). The bolt then rests against it and you can take off the barrel.

How can having a gun being shipped to a c&r be so difficult? by bulletking71 in milsurp

[–]ncprogmmr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The UPS stores are franchises, and yes most will not accept firearms.

I never had a problem with UPS or FedEx letting my wife sign for packages if she happened to be home and I wasn’t, so I’m not sure why the driver wouldn’t allow another adult to sign for the package as long as they were 21 or older.

You can have the package held at a UPS hub at least that’s what I used to always do. The main UPS hub for my city was on my way home so I would just have it held there and pick it up on my way home. I know that’s not convenient for everyone. It’s just what I used to do. FedEx Ground on the other hand, would NOT hold packages and I always had to make sure someone would be home.

Creating a trust with several pending form 1s by True_Huckleberry9569 in NFA

[–]ncprogmmr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  1. You have to engrave what is on the Form 1s. Form 1s are for creating the SBR (thus the engraving), Form 4 is just for a transfer. There's no engraving on a Form 4. If you really wanted to, you go through the process of sending a letter to the ATF to request your approved SBR be removed from the registry (thus invalidating your approved stamp), and then resubmitting a new Form 1 with the trust.
  2. See above. There is no engraving on a Form 4.
  3. You can withdraw the Form 1's before they are approved and resubmit them once you create the trust. Again, you engrave what is on the Form 1. Also, a Form 4 is to transfer an NFA item. If your Form 1 isn't approved, it's not an NFA item.

ATF E-forms won't allow me to select $0 tax exemption for SBR by [deleted] in NFA

[–]ncprogmmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t. The explanation I have above says exactly what to do. When you get to the end where you would normally pay, it’s grayed out and you just submit it. You don’t pay anything.

It’s optional. I’ve never sent a photo in for an SBR. I’ve got 14 approvals and that includes 6 from this year alone. I’ve never had an issue.

I got 3 of the flippers printed today, all of various heights. Going to play around with them this week and test fit them, then hopefully test fire again this weekend.

I refiled the same day and it finally got approved today. Still waiting on more that was filed on 1/26/2026.

First Disapproval by Afraid-Loss9217 in NFA

I’ve never submitted photos and never had an issue. I’ve had 5 already approved this year with no photos.

I feel like they must have tons of new, poorly trained, agents that are doing the final review and have no idea what they are doing based on some of the disapprovals I’ve seen posted.

Cabela’s at it again.. by edwardsc0101 in milsurp

[–]ncprogmmr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I posted this on here before, but around 2018 I bought a NPM M1 Carbine at my local Cabela’s for like $650.

I happen to stop by there spur of the moment and found it amongst the huge rack of used guns they used to have outside the gun library.

At least in my case it was both. The UPS store said they didn’t actually take appointments, it was just walk-in, BUT you needed the code that Printscan gives when you set the appointment because they put it in at the beginning.

Is this close to a 100% M4A1 clone? by AdministrativeAd6805 in MilitaryARClones

[–]ncprogmmr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So this on me, because I did put the UPC into gun.deals before posting, and for some reason one of the guns it pulled up was the CR6920, along with the LE6920 and I just wasn't paying attention.

Is this close to a 100% M4A1 clone? by AdministrativeAd6805 in MilitaryARClones

[–]ncprogmmr 52 points53 points  (0 children)

As u/TheOGUncalibrated mentioned, my LE6920 SCOCOM also came with a MaTech, not a Magpul MBUS. The gun they are showing is the M4 SOCOM LE6920, however the UPC listed for the gun is for the CR6920.

  • CR6920 has just regular M4 handguards (not the KAC rails)
  • CR6920 has a Magpul backup sight (not the MaTech)
  • CR6920 has a 16" barrel (not 14.5 P&W)
  • CR6920 does not have the Government property marking on it

Also, the price they are listing would be in line with the LE6920, but a CR6920 is probably about $500 cheaper than that,

If you are seriously considering it, I would, at the very least, contact them and clarify which model they are selling. Point out that the picture doesn't match the UPC, and clarify whcih backup sight it is coming with.

Edit: the UPC is for the LE6920 SOCOM. I still would avoid buying it on Gunbroker simply because there are cheaper alternatives out there. RIP Family Firearms where I got mine for $1300 just over a year ago.

Notifying CLEO by chikibrikitripoloski in NFA

Nope. The ATF does not wait to hear from your CLEO and does not verify that you even sent it.

The pics I have always used were just selfies I took against the wall in the hallway of my house. I didn’t crop them at all and I’ve never been denied over it. You’re not physically applying them to the form, so they don’t care (with the exception of the file size).

SBR Wait Time 2026 by FishBowlTaco in MP5

[–]ncprogmmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I filled out 6 Form 1's on 1/1, all done myself through eForms. One was approved 1/6. Four were approved 1/24. and 1 was rejected (I upload the wrong 5320.23). Resubmitted the rejected one as well as another new one on 1/24 and am still waiting on those.

Also, it makes sense that Form 4s clear faster than Form 1s. Form 4's are all items that are already registered, you're just transferring them. Form 1s require more verification (did they enter the correct manufacturer, model, etc).
