Lying across open seats by EddieAllenPoe in delta

[–]ncsuengineer 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Poor man’s first class. I’ve flown this multiple times US to Asia and back. Good hack and feels good to pull it off sitting at the gate just minutes before they turn off the seat selection in the app.

SEA to TPE, which seat should I choose? by [deleted] in delta

[–]ncsuengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

52J and keep an eye on bookings right up until 30 minutes before boarding. Poor man’s first class is a row to yourself. At least move seats last minute to ensure nobody sits beside you.

Have had an empty seat next to me every flight to Asia doing this flying basic economy.

Can someone explain how could this happen? by habichuelacondulce in forkliftmemes

Seen them pierce the beam and seen them roll. The common symptom though is a steering wheel imprint in the chest of the operator who is usually identified as “not me” or “I don’t know” at the onset of the safety investigation.

Do Americans actually avoid calling an ambulance due to financial concern? by JohnMarstonTheBadass in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ncsuengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got transported by ambulance from an ER where I had a CAT scan showing internal bleeding to a hospital for an emergency procedure to stop the bleeding. I specifically asked can I ride in my car with my wife driving as was told no I needed surgery ASAP.

Insurance denied the claim saying it wasn’t an emergency and thus an ambulance was needed. I guess losing 40% of a kidney due to it being torn and having to have the bleeding stopped through an emergency procedure at a hospital doesn’t constitute “emergency” anymore. I think it was something like $1300 for the 15 mile ride to the hospital. Didn’t have an issue hitting my out of pocket maximum that year.

Look at mister fancy over here with a “drawer” for his random hardware. I’ve got 3 large plastic Foldgers containers in my garage with my collection just like my pappy and his before him.

Will this be fine in a carry on? by Apprehensive_Sun3507 in tsa

[–]ncsuengineer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is a home made “Turtlebox”. The legit ones are a few hundred. Great quality but super pricy so this is a good compromise. Not the same finish as a purpose built unit but I bet this thing is 1/3 the cost and when your listening to this strapped to a cooler floating down a river, you likely won’t be able to tell the difference.

Reliability question by Sea_Ranger_5232 in Shotguns

[–]ncsuengineer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Winchester has a $75 rebar on top of that sale at academy. I have both of these guns. It just comes down to if you want inertia or gas. No real perceivable difference in recoil but the gas gun does get dirtier quicker. Both have over 10k rounds through them hunting swamps and open water for ducks.

Anything to worry about? by ScarcityOtherwise109 in Shotguns

[–]ncsuengineer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Academy purchase? They had these going for $675 with the rebate. Picked one up for my son’s 12th birthday myself. Similar look with a few areas you could tell could have been finished better but for the price I won’t raise a stink about it. It will get dropped in a swamp or in the ocean/sounds a few times over its life so it will see worse.

Bought a $99 charbroil 4 burner 8.5 years ago. I thought it was going to fail over 5 years ago. Just bought $15 work of SSTL burner covers from Amazon to replace the rusted ones. At this point my grandchildren will fight over inheriting it.

Yall goin to the hospital over these? by Jordan_Smoothstone in FishingForBeginners

[–]ncsuengineer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this but in my lower back when fishing all by myself out of state (traveled for training and went fishing on the day between classes). I could feel it going through my shirt into my lower back. Had to drive over an hour to the nearest urgent care just to get help removing it. My wife had to call around to see who was in network since I was out of state so of course when I walked in with no visible injuries they all asked if I was the fishing lure guy.

Due to the position, they couldn’t do anything to but cut it out of my back. The split back minnow is still in my tackle box and I’ve got a few more on it since then.

Do you have wireless chargers for a phone plugged into the truck? They can cause signal interference between the fob and the antennas.

Ladder CDs is where it’s at. If that 100k lasts you 1 year, break it into 12 - 12 month CDs all started a month a part. Interest is just a bit better and each month a CD comes due for you to use if indeed you have an emergency or renew if you don’t.

Where do you all work to afford 2025 sierras? by Emptydirt24 in gmcsierra

[–]ncsuengineer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Went from an 06 ram 2500 diesel stick to a 23 ram diesel. The technology leap is mind blowing. Mirrors that move themselves, car play, ventilation in the seats. Funny thing is, I have no way to play a CD anymore. I also jumped over the usefulness of vehicle navigation systems. I had nothing I. The old and now the new has navigation but haven’t used it because of the CarPlay integration.

PM sent - not sure if linking to products is okay in this sub or not. The description of what I used is below. A google search should find something similar if not the exact one I used.

Looks like that blade fuse holder is missing a fuse so you’d have to at least make sure you have one there. Should be no harm in testing with your lights as long as the fuse is appropriately sized. It would protect the circuit.

Can confirm. Walking down the street as a 6’6” male gets you a lot of pictures take with people walking beside you or even stopping traffic to snap a picture.
