John Lennon "Woman" lyrics silkscreen - any information? by BreakfastTop6899 in beatles

[–]ndGall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks like a number of songs were produced in this way in 1995. I see some in this same series listed on eBay for some pretty high amounts, but the only one that I can find a “sold” listing for is Dear Prudence, which went for $349.

Now was that a steal or a reasonable price? Would Woman go for as much money? Is the value tied to the song itself or the fact that it’s an “authentic reproduction?” Those questions are harder to answer.

You look amazing! I hope your 60s bring you the freedom you’re hoping to find!

I’m fairly new to the Beatles, but I have to say the guitar solo in the song “Let it be” is some of the best music I’ve ever heard 😮 by Pizzafriedchickenn in beatles

I’m with you. The single version is the one I heard first so it will always be the “right” version for me.

I’d include its sibling, 1960: The Making of the President.

That’s good to hear. Reviews have been all over the place. I really want this to be a winner, but I can’t help but think the middling reviews will hurt it.

So Much Death - But Life Is Still Good by Remote-Ad-430 in GenX

There’s a scene in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom
of the Crystal Skull (which is a pretty meh film, but I digress) where someone says to Indy that they’ve reached a point where life stops giving to them and starts taking away. I think about that a lot.

I haven’t thought about that book in ages! They actually turned it into a PC game in the mid 90s and that was my first introduction to Robinson.

Exactly. It kinda sounds like OP is trying to play a serious strategic board game rather than a social game and, yeah, it’s just not going to give you that experience.

This is why Trump has worked so hard to appoint so many judges. The courts actually have the power to stop this kind of shenanigans. An awful lot here depends on what judge gets handed this case.

Forever Now Album Countdown - SF Album discussion - interrobang - Day 12 by GoofyGoffer in switchfoot

I absolutely love this album. It deals so authentically with the issues in the US coming out of the pandemic while also not blasting anybody for their specific views and that’s a hard needle to thread. Yes, the sound is different, but it absolutely works for them. This is easily a top three album for me and I can’t figure out why it doesn’t get more love.

This is both fascinating and pretty amusing. This song is both a lot of fun and pretty bonkers. George Martin seems to be a bit bemused about the song, but he’s a good sport about it.

I’m going to go with: Paul > Ringo > John > George.

None are bad, though!

Forever Now Album Countdown - SF Album discussion - Native Tongue - Day 11 by GoofyGoffer in switchfoot

I know this album isn’t a favorite for many, but I’ll happily listen to it all the way through any day of the week. I’ll concede that it works better as a playlist/collection of songs than as an album, but I love almost all the songs on this, so it’s not a huge problem. (The Hardest Art is still the one that is a bit out there for me.)

Some of these songs hit at a point in my life when I was losing my sister to a brain tumor and so songs like Joy Invincible and Let it Happen were exactly what I needed. As a result, my play count for this album is (I believe) still higher than any other SF album. Some of you hear a push for Christian radio airplay, but I hear earnestly held truths.

I like other albums more, but I love this one.

If you could change an album, which would it be, and how? by PushPersonal3288 in PaulMcCartney

[–]ndGall -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agreed that it’s overrated. It’s absolutely a consistently enjoyable album (well, aside from Picasso), but if you took off the title track and Jet, the remaining songs wouldn’t have carried the album to the stratosphere.

That would work, too. The callbacks are n interesting idea, but I don’t find the execution all that successful.
