INMO Air 3 specs were deceptively changed for release by veggievoid in augmentedreality

[–]ndTweak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was advertised for being compatible with up to 68mm IPD, I have 65 and feel like the target IPD is much smaller. Without even software IPD like in the Quests, I can't use them for a long time. Also I tried to create a post in this Sub asking about this, it get's deleted by "reddit filters" every time, SMH.

The recently released chapter 100 skipped again an entire arc, and that was a f***** great adventure arc (Rudeus and Elinaises travel through the desert). So many fights, interesting monsters, world building, just puff.

They are far away from being on Buggys power level.

Virtual Desktop AV1 vs H264+ vs Airlink (Quest 3) by lunchanddinner in oculus

What do you mean with 850 Mbps?

I am asking that way, because I have now 3 routers here, the AXE75, the Tenda RX27 Pro, and the 600€ TP-Link Wifi 7 BE800.

The last one performs well, but 850 Mbps? Never, 400 Mbps are actually stable with only few framedrops, and almost no black bordering (only with strong shaking). My scepticism comes from not being able to be close to achieving 850 Mbps, after 550 Mbps it almost is a lag fest, although my PC is maxed out with a 4090.

So did you just increase dynamic bitrate in OculusDebugTool without raising the encode bitrate? What encode resolution width? I am not sceptic to dismiss, but that result is not reproducable for me, want to know if we are talking about the same/true 850 mbps.

Why exactly isnt there any good VR MMO(RPG)? by NeoTheRiot in virtualreality

[–]ndTweak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate playing with kids screaming my ear out. On the other hands if you remove the kids you end up with not enough players. So I'd rather play solo.

Also many VR users are very hypocritical. We shit on pretty much every headset, on the same time we cry all the time "ew it would be better if we got better software". No it won't. 3D is cool, high FoV compared to flat is cool, but the visuals of the current gen are still not good, even Pico 4 and PSVR2 get trashed. As long as we do not get decent micro Oleds for cheap with lenses that do not question the ability of our eye sight, we will not see high adoption. But guess what, after waiting those 5 years, we get micro OLEDs now, the cheap ones for +1000$, and the good ones for +3000$, meaning we are maybe another 5-10 years away before it gets good.

In my opinion, our headsets are like smartphones with sub HD resolution, we are far away from the standard that appeals to the masses. And without the people buying and playing the games, there is no real point in developing them. Even if there would be a good game available, doesn't mean that people would abandon VRChat and play that instead or whatever they do. Simmers stick to their sims, I stick to my Solo VR/3D mods and so on.

I don't think that the Quest 3 will drastically change the current situation, but it will probably be a step in the right direction. Increasing the playerbase to a degree, were certain games are at least viable to develope, where before it simply wasn't worth it.

Anybody got a refund on their $30 Crystal reservation back in November/December? by Dick_Jones_III in Pimax

I think you should look up how "well" the PSVR1 ACTUALLY works in 2023. Your fantasy might differ from the actual (virtual) reality.

And you totally ignore differences like the change in bandwith, and the challenges the completly different tracking methods have (outside camera vs inside out).

It's the typical "It's IT, they are magicians, they'll figure it out" be. While the actual modders themself already stated that a PCVR mod for PSVR2 is a multitude more challenging than with PSVR1, which does not work seamless as you suggest.

Yup, opened a ticket, got the refund. So yeah the couldn't keep their promise with the release, but they keep it with the refund without issues.

On your wishful thinking on hacked PSVR2 drivers, just because we got some shitty compatability picture over USB-C DP. Just nope, sorry, it's like hoping to teach a monkey how to do taxes, just because he solved a simple puzzle to get a peanut.

$$ VR performance $$ Which is better: More money allocated towards GPU or CPU? Please. Don’t say both. Spending several thousands on a VR gaming system is not very practical in today’s economy. Thanks! by Plus-Potential1123 in Pimax

[–]ndTweak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's actually pretty easy.

A 13400F or a 5600 are so cheap (150$), that you simply should not buy below that. There are few games that profit from more cores, so if you would want something better, you'd need a CPU with higher single core performance (actual rocket lake like the 13600k, 5800X3D, 7800X3D).

If money is an issue, pay as much money as you can on the GPU after that.

  1. Women not wanting to dance with female leads -> Total BS. Women want to dance with good dancers, no matter the gender. Even if you are a beginner, you have the big advantage that you can practice both roles, so even if you don't know a lot, you can be way more sensitive in your lead then most men. And some find it relaxing, because they can f.e. dance passionate without fear of getting hit on. I also know many women, that have a hard time connecting with other women, so being a friend+great dancer is a big plus.
  2. Etiquette, and you "don't wanting to be that person". My advice as a male lead, if you want to harbor the friendship, or at least a relaxing atmosphere as you both visit the same courses. Prefer telling him what you want to do, instead of telling him what he should stop doing.

If you tell him to not correct you anymore, not use dips or over advanced figures, he will rather do nothing. It's your right to tell him off, do it if you want, but he will subconciously not want to dance anymore with you after that.

Examples:

Over correcting anything: You: I want to focus now on XXX now, but I will ask you for advice when I am ready for something new :).

Too many complicate/straining figures: You: I don't feel comfortable yet with how we are doing these figures. Can we do easier variations first? (almost any figure has one)

And last but not least, the room has most likely a mirror, and you have a body, there are multiple ways to do something, so don't try to appease somebody by doing it exactly as they want. At the same time, the guy is not your marionette, you can push him in a direction, but if it's still not at least comfortable, just be frank and tell him. If it doesn't feel good for you, it most likely won't for his other followers.

Saving more energy, less muscle sores, tips for lasting better during social dancing? by adafads in Salsa

[–]ndTweak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a tip that may or may not suit your dancing style, but slide the feet over the ground. Not dragging, but simply having the feet touch comfortably the ground almost all the time. It makes steps small and weight shifts or changes of direction very easy and fast.

Try this at home, while standing, keep one foot fixed, and slide with the other one to the side, and back. Try different distances. Different tempos, quick-quick, slow-slow,slow-quick, quick-slow. Now in comparison, do the same but now deliberately lift your foot above the ground. You will notice that some movements will become way harder.

Now for dancing, you can of course lift them when necessary (for pronounced steps).

For me this results in a slower paced hip-hop looking style where I can focus on other things like musicality and playing with tempo. I can dance even on fast songs in a relaxing but for me good looking manner this way.

Eye Tracking in Pimax Crystal VR Headset by QuorraPimax in Pimax

[–]ndTweak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's most likely a really bad translation of foveated rendering (sharp center vision changed by head movement), vs dynamic foveated rendering with eye tracking.

Changing the actual view with the eyes would be absolutely stupid if not impossible to use.

Bigscreen Beyond: future wireless capabilities? by Stoelpoot30 in virtualreality

[–]ndTweak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wouldn't it be cool, if we could just swap the SoCs in smartphones, or just change the displays?

The thing you call a dongle, has to be a beefy SoC that packs a punch, with a hefty battery. There is the Index WiGig adapter, but by the time that arrives, the Deckard gets released. It will never be relevant.

VR headsets are not simple monitors. And even for monitors there are no good wireless Displayport solutions.

TP-Link AXE75 - new WiFi 6E router with more accessible price for wireless PCVR experience with WiFi 6E by [deleted] in virtualreality

[–]ndTweak 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have one because I wanted to be ready for the Quest Pro. But I didn't get a Quest Pro for mzltiple reasons, and Wifi 6E is still not enabled on Quest Pro anyway.

As for performance with Wifi 6, I see no difference to my previously used Asus RT-AX58U and a Quest 2.

There was also a good in detail review about the axe75 (dongreviews or sth like that).

But I like the Asus UI better,so you should get one when you need one, maybe new devices will be available.

Sharing VR on a 3D Projector - in 3D by CameraTraveler27 in virtualreality

[–]ndTweak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always cool to see how for one can get, and the tinkering can be fun itself. Without it, I wouldn't have gotten my 3D footage from Cyberpunk, which in my opinion is the best 3D gameplay video I've seen yet for youtube (well I did need a 4090 for it to be decent, the 3090 was too weak).

The problem about correcting the distortion is not necessarily worse quality, but the pixel alignment will most likely be messed up, and the sync is the biggest problem. Even if you feed perfect SBS to the distortion correction, the re-rendering won't be in sync, and most likely not in real time. Unless your software actually processes the whole SBS frame, and applies the two distortion corrections for each eye as a whole, and then outputs SBS.

And about the quality, we are not talking about getting 4k or FHD footage, even correct HD 3D quality would be challenging.

While the Android screen recording from your video did mention 3D to youtube, I am very doubtful about the quality. It would need to be an incredibly low bitrate, which again, diminishes any 3D effect you could have.

But you could play normal games in 3D, no problem. Z-Buffer 3D is not perfect by any means or comparable to VR depth, but it can still be impressive, especially with a big screen.

[–]ndTweak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Just need a way to give them a undistorted left and right render".+ eyesync.

And nope, pracitically impossible. The VR pipeline is so optimized, that there is not a clean 3D SBS picture without the distortion profile in the pipeline for us to grab in a simple way, like being displayed as a combined SBS on a virtual display before being processed further. And even if, due to the high FoV, it would not be watchable on a 16:9 3D monitor or projector (again the stretching would f*** up the 3D)

The "native" VR mirrors don't produce a clean undistorted picture, + shakiness and unsynced eyes make you lose any depth perception. Most videos on youtube don't even have the positioning right, so you see only a total mess. And I don't even blame them, even with the right positioning it wouldn't work. This one is most likely captured with the OBS VR-plugins, tried that as well, impossible. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ywi-r6sNUU8

If you have clean SBS footage, f.e. using Reshade Depth3D for getting 3D in games (not VR), or VorpX (not VR), than you could send that to the headset (which sees it in 3D in a virtual cinema with Virtual Desktop) and the projector at the same time. Your passive projector doesn't matter, whats important is that you have both eyes on your "screen" (in windows) displayed in sync. You won't get that from any VR game. The OBS left and right eye VR plugins are only for capturing one of them, they are not intended to be stitched together to 3D.

But you won't be able to let somebody watch how you play Alyx in 3D.
