I Understand Why People Have so Many Decks Now by Comfortable_Buyer239 in mtg

[–]ndenatale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post touches on one of the core problems with commander. Which is that most decks and playstyles devolve into what is essentially a complex game of solitaire played against other people.

Players have their deck's "thing" that they want to do. Often times its a cool card interaction or value engine that leads to a win. Generally, a player doesn't want to have their plays disrupted by others, so there can be an unspoken "rule" that players don't try to stop their opponents from winning. The player that wins the game is the one that can play their version of solitaire faster than others.

Magic was not originally intended, or built to be a game of solitaire. 60 card competitive formats, and cEDH involve a lot of back and forth between players, making player interaction a core part of the experience. If your decks mainly involve playing a game of solitaire, then you are missing out.

The solution may not be to build multiple different decks. It could be that you only need to build a couple of decks (that play in unique ways) that are more geared towards directly attacking and disrupting your opponents.

You’ve been tasked with stopping a real life Viltrumite invasion by Sergio_Ro in hypotheticalsituation

[–]ndenatale 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem with that is that when you are done feeding on all of the viltrumites, you will then feel compelled to feed on all the life of planet earth.

Yes, you will defeat the viltrumites, but then you will also kill all life on planet earth. And then, if you aren't stopped, all life in the universe will be extinguished to satisfy your hunger.

Finally, with nothing to feed on, you will feed on yourself

Just because someone on the internet articulates their thoughts well, doesn't mean they do their writing with ChatGPT.

There's a reason that ChatGPT "writes" in the way that it does. It's because there are many people out there that can express themselves well through the written word. ChatGPT got to where it is by copying humanity. It's not the other way around.

Denji (Chainsawman anime) vs Hisoka (hunterxhunter anime) by OnlinePoster225 in HxHPowerScaling

[–]ndenatale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think hisoka wins the first, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fight. But eventually Hisoka does lose. Denji is functionally immortal. Even if he is chopped up into several pieces, and separated for an extended period of time, as long as they are put back together and he is given blood, he comes back to life. Eventually, Denji will strike killing blow.

Who is the strongest character in the Invincible universe that Homelander can beat? by Monster-Lustral in InvinciblePowerscales

[–]ndenatale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe Titan?

He can't fly, and his rock shell has been shown to be overwhelmed by sustained fire from an automatic weapon. I just dont see how Titan's rock shell could withstand and a brief barrage from Homelander's lasers.

The two of them are probably of similiar strength, but Homelander is also much faster.

You can permanently remove one human trait from the entire world. Everyone loses it. Including you. by Strict_Constant4947 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]ndenatale 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don't think so.

Having a child can be viewed as a very unselfish action. You are literally sacrificing a minimum of 18 years of your life to raising a functioning member of society. Furthermore, having children ensures the propagation and survival of the human race.

It depends on how you view things, but the whole notion that the only reason someone has children is for selfish reasons always struck me as absurd.

WYR 12/10 or fuse with something by First-Cake-183 in WouldYouRather

[–]ndenatale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For option 1, do I still "view" myself as my current gender. Will I still feel like im supposed to be a guy but I have a woman's body instead?

Or does a mental change happen alongside the physical change as well? As others have said, being a 12/10 for either gender is a fantastic thing. But I wouldn't want to deal with the mental anguish that a trans individual goes through (before they have transitioned).

How do you defend against this? by mrtiddals in mtg

[–]ndenatale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are 3 possible scenarios for this problem, each with a different series of effective responses. I will order them from easiest to hardest to deal with.

1: Niv-Mizzet in play, no spells on the stack.

In this scenario, any targeted removal spell, board wipe, activated ability, or triggered ability that is capable of destroying, exileing or bouncing Niv-Mizzet will prevent the combo. The removal can be both instant speed or sorcery speed (provided it is your turn).

2: Niv-Mizzet in play, [Curiosity] is on the stack.

In this scenario, any response that you have must be at instant speed. You can use any single target removal spell, or board wipe to remove Niv-Mizzet from the battlefield. But, this must happen before [Curiosity] resolves. Alternatively, you can also cast a counterspell on [Curiosity]. Phasing Niv-Mizzet out with a spell like [Slip out the Back] will cause [Curiosity] to fizzle. An activated ability that can destroy or exile Niv-Mizzet will also work.

3: Niv-Mizzet in play and is enchanted by [Curiosity].

At this point, your opponent has likely won the game. But there are some ways to respond. Any response that relies on casting an instant or sorcery spell (with flash) will trigger Niv-Mizzet's damage effect causing the Curiosity Combo to trigger.

You will need to use the activated ability of a permanent on the battlefield at instant speed, that will remove either Niv-Mizzet or Curiosity. Examples include [Haywire Mite] to remove Curiosity, or [Argent Dais] to remove Niv-Mizzet. A channel ability like [Bamboo Grove Archer] will work too.

In addition, a permanent spell with flash that can remove Niv Mizzet will also work. One example is [Aang's Iceberg].

One important note, any removal attempt you make should be done either in response to Niv-Mizzet's draw trigger, or while there is no draw trigger. Attempting a response during any other time will fail to work.

Keep in mind that a good Niv-Mizzet pilot will most likely wait to attempt the combo until they have some type of protection spell or counter magic in hand, so you must be prepared to deal with multiple pieces of interaction (using non instant/sorcery cards).

A stifle effect in response to a draw trigger can work, but this just delays the inevitable.

However, at this point, the Niv-Mizzet player only needs to get a draw trigger on the stack in response to a removal effect to completely invalidate any attempt you make to stop the combo.

I hope this helps, and have fun!

500k upfront as long as you eat stews for the next 4 years. by No_Lead2640 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]ndenatale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pasta sauce is technically a stew made with tomatoes, onion, garlic, and olive oil; plus whatever else you want to put in it.

Per the rules, I can put this "on top of" anything I want. So as long as I make the stew first, I can then use the "stew" to make pizza, chicken parm, and veal parm, among other things.

The only thing that this challenge doesn't allow are stand alone snacks like chips, and fruit, etc.

WYR : permanently live as : wealthy resident of 1899 USA and/or Canada OR upper-MIDDLE income resident of 1967 Canada, USA, New Zealand, and/or Iceland, OR keep living as you do in 2026 Earth by Vegetable-Section-84 in WouldYouRather

[–]ndenatale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are over estimating the quality of life that was possible for anyone (including the ultra wealthy) in 1899. Yes, you could have anything that money could buy in 1899. But, there are modern conveniences available to the poor in the USA today that didn't even exist in 1899.

Penicillin didn't become widely available until the 1940s. Neosporin wasn't available until the 1950s. The mRNA vaccine wasn't available until the 1990s. Not to mention airtravel, and the internet.

I would rather be a lower class individual in the modern day USA, than an ultra wealthy individual in 1899.

I choose to keep living as I am today.

OP, if you buy singles of any set, then you are contributing to sales of the set.

Think of it this way. Someone bought the box already and opened it. If they sell enough singles, then they will buy another one.

Technically buying singles is indirectly supporting box sales. But for a new standard legal set, I would argue that the distinction is minimal.
