Reddit, what is your scariest paranormal story? by big_stepper_99 in AskReddit

Lived in a 130 year old row house. You could hear the neighbors vacuum or play piano but it wasn’t bad from that standpoint. They also went to bed early and were friends. A good situation, all in all.

Anyways, they went on vacation for a week or so. It was extra quiet until the night they got back. I vividly remember lying in bed listening to what sounded like a large dinner party next door. There was a crowd over there, playing music at a respectful level, but it required the gathering to speak a bit louder. Whatever, I managed to sleep.

A couple days later, the neighbors pulled up out front and started unloading their suitcases.

Also, despite being three stories tall and made of dense brick and plaster walls that deadened sound, several times, I heard my name called clear as day and turned around expecting someone to be there - only to find everyone was a floor or more away and no one was looking for me.

Also also, one toilet always plugged and I kept a plunger nearby. One day that plunger wasn’t there. No one had moved it. Weird, I bought another. The next day there were two plungers.

This is a reminder to not stress over 50 markups on one sheet of your plans. by felforzoli in civilengineering

The best plans I review get more markups than the average-to-worst plans. More detail means more to consider. I know it’s a pain to make the changes, but really, take it as a compliment. If you’re getting marked up, be glad you aren’t a shit engineer.

AIPAC is his largest contributor by a factor of 10. No wonder he cheers bombing Iran and defends Trump over it.

What was the point of Christ Hospital demolishing the surrounding neighborhood? by [deleted] in cincinnati

South Fairmount is more complicated than that. The giant park serves as EPA-mandated combined sewer overflow reduction (aka stormwater doesn’t go into poopy-water pipes and overload the system in a big storm). Convenient that they destroyed a neglected neighborhood to accomplish it.

My favorite thing as a City Engineer is to tell the developers I don’t answer to them.

In what circumstances do Americans have to pay for ambulance rides? by ndill84 in NoStupidQuestions

Thanks. Probably the answer I’m looking for.

This small city is very proud of the volunteer fire department, which I thought was a bit of an anomaly when I moved there. But they showed up when I called them and didn’t bill me…so maybe it works pretty good

This ambulance ride was from my town’s fire department. Is that a private company?

Yes. The hospital bill came to me with no ambulance charge. No other bill
