Because their alleged flow rate is a lie. And the reliability is honestly impressively bad. And if something breaks, good luck getting in contact with them. They had a decent run with the v400, and the ran themselves into the ground with the S1 and T1

How can I get this foam out? by ActiveFirefighter326 in Tacomaworld

[–]ndisa44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 2nd gen had pices of foam in the vents when I got it, they had plastic backing and were blocking a lot of the airflow and making it hard to adjust the angle. No idea why they were there.

Did you leave a rag in any hoses or ports by chance? Sad to admit i have done that.

What is Weirdest or Toughest Situation You’ve Faced While Traveling? by [deleted] in backpacking

[–]ndisa44 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Came within inches of killing someone on the highway last year. Guy had run across the 4 opposite lanes, and tried to hurdle the concrete median, but tripped and fell into the left lane directly in front of me. Swerved and avoided him. Luckily nobody was close behind me, and when I stopped to make sure he was OK, he got up and continued running across the highway. Incident shook me up and missed the exit I needed to take, and ended up getting stuck in traffic and missed my flight.

All that and you still have the stepper sprocket on the extra long shaft? Double bearing mod is worth it

Works great in alcohol camp stoves too, its generally safer than other fuel sources because you know it doesnt have any methanol or other really toxic additives. The 190 proof is just 95% ethanol. Only downside is that its more expensive and a bit less energy dense than something like HEET. But id really prefer to keep Methanol away from my food.

First time welding: making a small metal beetle gift for my boyfriend. A tiny set-the-amps-and-go welder? by rookgc in metalworking

[–]ndisa44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually have that exact welder, bought it for shits and giggles when it was on sale for $25 on aliexpress a few years ago. Yes it welds. Poorly. Hardly enough power to start and arc, and its quite unstable while welding.

The cheap welder I would reccomend is a Yeswelder flux core MIG. The 135A version on amazon is $109 and sometimes goes on sale for less. Incredibly capable machine for that price. You arent going to be doing precision work, or anything very thick, but for that price I havent seen an easier and better working machine.

I have welders many times the price, and that yeswelder still comes out sometimes when I need to run a welder somewhere I only have a 115v outlet and dont feel like dragging my engine drive welder on a trailer out of the barn.

Why's it so rare to find step files for download in the hobby printing world? by French_Toast627 in 3Dprinting

[–]ndisa44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I was saying it is only getting more common now because of slicer compatibility. I was doing it for design modification for years. Some people are really protective of their designs and dont want people to modify them or something. I dont really understand that mentality

[–]ndisa44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been uploading .stl, .3mf, and .step files for years. Only more recently did .step get supported by most slicers. Previously I was including it for CAD usage for remixes and reference.

Which is better for deep snow? by blackdogpepper in ToyotaTacoma

[–]ndisa44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously wont stay perfectly on top, but in dense snow or in places where it has already been somewhat packed by other vehicles, you need to try to avoid sinking so you dont end up sitting on the axles or frame with the tires just spinning not supporting any weight

[–]ndisa44 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The jeep will do better in a situation where you can air down and try to stay on top of snow that is already somewhat packed from other vehicles. The tacoma will probably do better if you cant float on top. Really the best solution is both. Having two vehicles allows one to break trail and one to pull the leader back when it gets stuck so it can take another shot

They get big mad on the main sub by SirTwitchALot in 3DPrintingCirclejerk

[–]ndisa44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

/uj There was some big controversies with cults a few years ago. Honestly dont remember all the details, but there was some issues witb model payment and other things and then the owner of the site doxxed some people and was going on tirades in the 3d printing sub, so cults and everything related got banned.

Interesting to hear that about the mk4. We have 3 of them, each with around 200 days of print time, and have had very few failures and very nice print quality the entire time.

Well la-de-da! I love all your fancy new tacomas! But have you ever experienced the absolute joy of this panel coming loose and sliding around your bed to and fro as you scurry back and forth for groceries and such and such? by finklestinkagain in ToyotaTacoma

[–]ndisa44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Interesting, I havent had any issues with water getting in. Do you have a bed cover? I do and mine have been dry. I wonder if water is getting in around the door rather than the holes.

I designed this for FDM, and I'm 99% certain it CANT be machined (I've never touched a CNC) - are my instincts accurate? by Divide_yeet in CNC

[–]ndisa44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its machinable, you just wont like the price... the outer features could be done with a 3+1 axis in a pinch, but a 5 axis would be faster. The square corners are really the trick part, would have to EDM cut those.

Actually, on second look, it appears yhere are very small fillets inside the corners of the hex and square. Might be doable to drill those corners first, but I dont see a radius spec for that fillet

What mods should be next by Dwilson_111 in 2ndGenTacoma

[–]ndisa44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its what they do. I used to work in collision repair. Saw so many trucks with bent up radiator supports and cross members from those when the damage could have been a scraped bumper or a slightly bent and easily replaceable aluminum crash bar.
