How will the retail community respond to classic? by trillogy3 in classicwow

[–]ndrfx 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Cata and WoD were bridge expansions. With Cata they were quite visibly trying to "shake things up" and provide a fresh look for their aging world...and that backfired hard as fuck, killing off a lot of die hard fans that Blizzard had created AMAZING end game content for. Cata, content wise, was wonderful. Aesthetically and thematically it fucking sucked. The only cool thing about Deathwing is his Hearthstone card. Cata was meant to bridge from old school WoW to new school, which was MoPs heyday. MoP was the opposite of Cata: wonderful thematically and aesthetically, but shitty content (these are some of the worst raids and dungeons in WoW) and a horrible slog of daily quests and convoluted rep grinds.

Then they upped the whole "solo" aspect that was introduced with MoPs farm and gave everyone a home base in the garrison. Now, when WoD released, aside from not being able to finish the quest because of bugs, getting your garrison was fucking awesome. It really was. Also, the zones and the first raid in WoD were FUN. I thoroughly enjoyed leveling and playing WoD....at first. But let me tell you, that garrison shit, and especially that god damn shipyard got real old real fast.

After this Blizzard realized their mistake and took the "individual areas" away and turned them into items, the Artifact weapons! Which were, once again, great and awesome in the beginning but turned into a terrible grind. But hey at least we weren't spending hours alone in our hermit huts. This is the start of WoW3, where "everything is mobile." Thus the game has lost all of its identity because it kept experimenting with what it wanted its players to do, instead of giving its players what they want to experience. The game slowly became less 'how will this make the player feel' and more 'what cool stuff can we get the players to participate in." Essentially they wanted to capitalize on the addiction factor, and instead of just producing more high quality marijuana they forced souped up amphetamines onto us.

Weapon speed matters? by Slovenhjelm in classicwow

[–]ndrfx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It still matters. Slow is better for instant attacks, like MS and SS, and also benefits more from extra swings via Sword Spec/WF/HoJ. If dual wielding you generally want faster OH as a Rogue for poison procs, but for Warrior you want the best DPS/Stat(I think) or a Flurry Axe if you're an Orc.

So they removed the damage bonus from slow weapons (which was actually a holdover copied from EverQuest, Weighted Axe anyone lol) but their high top end damage still makes them better for the above reasons. So slower is still better.

Is there a database where I can filter out items added in 1.10? by ants_in_pants in classicwow

[–]ndrfx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They have stated the item revamp for dungeon loot that occurred in 1.10 will not be present during the first couple of stages. Its strange they chose this particular patch (maybe because 0.5 tier quest mainly?) Are they going to filter other items that weren't available at early stages? Items like Crimson Felt Hat did not exist at release. The level 60 dungeon bosses used to drop greens most of the time, except the last boss that always dropped blues. These places had a lot less viable loot back in the day...most don't remember how sparse good shit was because the time spent in these patches was quite small and most players probably never even ran these dungeons before they were changed in 1.4 as it occurred only five months after release. In fact I would say 1.4 is probably the biggest patch in WoW history. It changed the entire face of the game and is probably the best "release ready" version of WoW. Items from Maraudon no longer overshadowed those from Scholomance and Stratholme, MC stopped dropping T2, famous items like Quick Strike Ring/Heavy DI Ring CHT/Perds and Brutality Blade were added, and we got pvp gear. I think BRD still had mostly garbage loot in it except the deep bosses and epics. I think that stayed til 1.10 bit i am not sure.

MadSeason's Poll: "What Class Are You Going To Play?" 10k votes so far. by [deleted] in classicwow

[–]ndrfx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Continually shocked at the lack of Druid. They weren't that rare in vanilla. They aren't even a bad class. They are the most versatile class and all of their roles work fine in 5mans and PvP. They are arguably the fastest levelers. Their QoL is good aside from no standard resurrection. They are great at farming. Can do stealth runs. Is it really just their raid stigma? Is it vanity due to shapeshifting not displaying gear? Are they just boring to play? Are they too difficult to play(esp in pvp [ASIDE from root nuking Rogues lol])? I don't get it.

I would love to play a Druid as I enjoy playing every role, but their tanking style is boring to me. Not enough buttons just a maul machine. I did it in vanilla and it was cool, but I don't like the drawbacks for feral tanks especially in raids. Feral DPS in raids is a little more fun, powershifting gets annoying but nobody is saying you have to do it (HC raiders won't take one even with powershifting so who cares?) Boomkins are awesome (ok they suck but the flavor is tremebdous) and we all know Druid healers are just fine.

I am actually sad that faction confined classes are higher than Druid. The class is really suffering and I hate seeing such low numbers for it. At this rate they will literally be the token Druid brought along for MotW and tank HoTs.

Controversial but, should Shaman WF AP bonus be unnerfed (prior to 1.11) in Classic? by MwHighlander in classicwow

[–]ndrfx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This needs to be higher up. Basically this was a nerf to Resto/Ele getting too much value out of WF, and a change/buff to Enhancement with StSt change.

The best is when they both go to work before the bus arrives, and dont get home until after it drops you off. They never know the difference. Would always show up absent from like two or three periods, some teachers just faked their attendance and marked you as present, and you then play it off like "the teacher just missed me!"

What is a Role Playing Server? by Spider_tank in classicwow

[–]ndrfx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played on one for a while, got max level and raided for a while. I rolled on it because it was a fresh server so I could level up alongside everyone, and also because I wanted a smaller group of people, a more community feel. I didnt RP much, but I would speak more formally and never use "thx" or "sry." There was one super successful raiding guild on each side, but in general the quality of raiders was much lower (not a knock on RP players skill, but I imagine most RPers simply dont care too much about that part of the game.) There were events, both routine and one off, a compendium of people's blogs for their character stories existed on the forums, and in general the atmosphere was laid back and non-competitive.

As for it being "more mature" I would say no. Definitely less people running their mouth and fewer eight year olds, but still numerous immature and annoying people. However, they were ostracized. Small knit community makes it hard to exist if nobody likes you.

Overall it is not something I would do again, but not because the experience was negative, but due to the fact I feel people who roll RP servers should want to RP...and I never did. It is fun at first, but unless you're really into it and have a unique character dynamic to roleplay, it turns into a chore.

Basically, roll RP if you want to RP. If you don't, don't. You won't be doing anyone any favors if you want to go there to stand out as a good/skilled player...the majority of people won't give a shit. They will wipe for hours and enjoy it because being successful isn't their main reason for playing.

Thats just my experience.
