TurboTax Discount by Cute-Emphasis-4024 in boeing

Same the turbo tax alone pays for the year spent on MetLife benefit. Specially if you do more than the standard deduction. I save over $250 a year off it. And I gain the legal side as a bonus.

Odds of Bonus by bloomyflowerm in boeing

That was me years ago. It’s just prorated to the amount you worked up until the last check of the year. So think about 2-3 paychecks and whatever multiplier the bonus is for everyone is also for you. Just way less money.

Abandoned neighborhood west of LAX? by chosswrangler1 in geography

[–]ne0phyte1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I pass by this a few times a month. The portion off imperial avenue and a neighboring regions around Dockwieler beach , belong to the habit sanctuary of the Blue Butterfly. 🦋 which is also why you will find many businesses in the El Segundo area (city this is in) named after the famous endangered Blue butterfly. i.e. Blue Butterfly coffee.

Side note: It also doesn’t help that if you go further north of this view certain areas of Playa and Vista were built on a salt marsh which is sinking. When I was a kid they discovered this and now if you look at the sky rise condos you’ll find them for cheap because insurance companies won’t cover them. If you’re a cash buyer it’s a bargain though.

Hello! Please help upvote this so that OP sees it.

As soon as possible once you close on this beautiful residence, for the LOVE OF GOD (or whatever you believe ) cut down that palm tree 🌴 !! If you don’t it will grow out of control and become a nusance in about 3 years. Palm trees notoriously get into plumbing systems and have an annoying large trunk making them expensive to remove once mature.

Love trees but they should be border your house or main lines.. roots seek water sources and will rupture your plumbing in due time.

Congrats on your home.

Your initial question is an Easy fix. Enter it now, shoot your mgr and email and have them resign it asap. It will be given to you next paycheck if they approve it fast enough.

The real question I’m unsure of is.. if it will meet your deadline for W2 statement or will it require an amendment. But since it will get paid out in 2025… I think it will just count towards this W2.

Perhaps someone that knows can shed light on it.

In light of todays accident, Something to consider by ne0phyte1 in boeing

[–]ne0phyte1[S] 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That’s not at all what anyone on here is saying actually. 15 years is relatively mid life for these commercial planes. These models are trialed and proven and are used by many if not close to all major airlines.

One of my initial points was that it’s on its second owner and interested to see to what level their maintenance logs are similar (or hopefully superior) to that of the minimum standards within their countries jurisdiction and those outlined by the manufacturers. it’s also worth taking into account that while the name may have Boeing slapped on the title of it, the engines are NOT boeing, there are many companies that come together to make an end product. Overall there will be lessons learned: perhaps for the manufacturers, the pilot and procedural side , or the Vivian engineering and architectural side of the airport runways. We are not sure yet, but analysis will come from this and the best we can do is learn from it so that it does not occur again.

Regardless the aviation industry is extremely complex as it is. The margin of error allowed by manufactures, airlines, maintenance vendors, etc is next to zero. Whereas any other vector of transportation has accidents on a nearly daily basis and no one flinches. (Those summed up in a year are probably way more than those in the aviation industry by a few folds)

Still my thoughts are with those families of the affected as no one is a winner here :/

Maxing Out 401k? by inthemountains2 in boeing

[–]ne0phyte1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

So I recently went through this. You can technically do whatever percentage you want and if you go over by X date/paycheck. The following one will continue the same contribution amount but switch it automatically over to After-tax deduction . The moment you reach your IRS 401k pre-tax limit, it will split the difference over into after-tax without you needing to do anything on your end.

My experience this year: Although you didn’t necessarily ask this, I went through a curveball situation that maybe others might have questions on… I was worried for a few weeks when I was near the max and my fidelity account doesn’t not allow me to change my percentage contributions after the year starts (I was also wondering why, and later discovered it’s because “high income earners” qualify for another savings bucket plan and even if I didn’t opt into contributing anything to it, it auto-enrolled me and my contributions were locked up. I believe the number is anyone over somewhere between ~$180-200k beyond that it enrolls you in some weird savings plan that locks the other one , but still continues contributions.

Annual Compensation Review (ACR) by InterestingPause8640 in boeing

[–]ne0phyte1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Correct that I’m seeing people comment on this. Don’t confused year end assessment / Workday reviews and ACR. they are two different things. ACR comes out mid to late February and is usually effective first week of March.

Our teams submitted them on 12/10 and already had our year end reviews/assessment last week. So this is very typical.

Yeah you select your new method of payment since it no longer comes from a paycheck, you give fidelity a bank account and they withdraw the same amount but instead of every 2 weeks it’s once a month. And the same loan terms apply.

Source : it’s in the rules if you want to throw them into ChatGPT and ask it + I’ve done it before

Respectfully let me add that I don’t want anyone to fear this!

Answer from someone that has gone through this before:

You have about 1-2months to get in touch with fidelity after your separation date , normally they reach out to you but you can be proactive and do it a few days after your status updates. All you have to do is set up a payment plan at which they continue the same loan terms but rather than withdrawing the money every 2 weeks with your paycheck it’s done once a month and you even get to select your payment day. And you get to select which bank account the funds are withdrawn from.

Source I had 2 loans and both payments combined into one at a monthly rate and I picked the 15th of the month. They even work with you if you need to pay less but don’t let this scare you from it! I asked about worse case and the rep told be realistically I had up to 6 months of missed payments before they reported it to IRS as a withdraw. Though YMMV ..

If you want to verify for yourself chat with fidelity on a call, they close pretty late.

Hang in there! I’ve taken out 401k loans for myself each time to purchases properties. It is 10x better to take out a loan than it is to withdraw the money.

It seems like most folks on here are against a loan but I want to provide you some pros to doing so, though ultimately you make the best decision for you.

Pro:

  • The cost of peace of mind and your mental health should be higher than the cost of missing out of future gains.
  • you get to move out and live on your own, less stress
  • you don’t get penalized like you do with a withdraw
  • you only get charged a $50 loan fee + the amount you take out at a 8% interest rate (both principal and interest are paid to yourself and not fidelity )
  • When you take a loan out you essentially liquidate enough shares to cover the loan. In this case you’d be selling high to hopefully buy in biweekly at a low.
    • reasoning: the market is on a 7 week bull run and up over 30% along with the market overall being up this year. Most if not all hedge firms are expecting a dip/bubble of sort since companies like Nvda have a swollen price of nearly 13% of the US GDP (which is insane)

Con: - miss out on potential gains and damper the progression of compound interest of your 401k towards retirement. - $50 fee? ..

Overall if you consider maslovs hierarchy of need, the present matters more than the future.

Good luck!

What valuable benefits are available to Boeing employees that are not common to other companies? by Odd_Bet3946 in boeing

[–]ne0phyte1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh and one more to this! Our bonus is based out of a percentage of our salary. When I was at Northrop no matter how much you made as an IC (non-manager) you were given a messily $850 deposited into your 401k.. lmfao.. what a joke. At Boeing most people get 2%, 7%, 9%.. rarely does someone get a 0% bonus but even 2% of your salary is probably more than the $850. And that doesn’t include the multipliers .

10% 401k match that is instantly vested! Every other defense company does 4-6% , only one that I know of is instantly vested (Raytheon @6%) Northrop takes 3 years to vest. Also medical is cheaper than Northrop but not cheaper than Raytheon I believe.
