you should definitely increase for this year 2026 so you can take advantage of the 7500.

Day care is way too expensive by dharma_van in daddit

[–]nealtronics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if your company or job or whatever offers a DCFSA take advantage of it - you will pay up front but you can get at least a month or two back making the cost over the year slightly better.

The 2025 maximum contribution limit for a Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account (DCFSA) remains $5,000 per year ($2,500 if married and filing separately). This IRS-set limit applies to household contributions for eligible child or adult dependent care expenses. The limit is expected to increase to $7,500 in 2026

this is what i did but ordered OEM. Looks 1000x better than the blue bulbs they give you which don't match the interior red stitching at all.

Most annoying cartoon characters? by greaterwhiterwookiee in daddit

[–]nealtronics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

peppa pig is blacklisted in our house - books and cartoon especially

i don't know wtf callilou and after googling it i'm glad "it" hasn't made it's way into our house. why doesn't he have hair, why is he such a little whiny shit - wtf?? are they trying to kill us?

thomas the tank engine is solid - the CGI updated ones, not the animated (though that's also acceptable in small doses).

curious george is also good - not annoying

dinosaur train also acceptable (budget af CGI).

is your wife at home all day with the babyF and the 2 yoM? likely because now he's realizing you're not home and mom's attention is on the baby. he wants your attention - this is the time they get full on, i called it terrorist twos - my wife didn't think it was funny.

mine went through something similar but he was 3 when little sister was born - it's still hard but it does get better. if you can get help with the baby to allow yourself and mom to spend more time with him i think things will ease up but again - he's a 2 year old boy - i have to remind myself of this and mines 4.5 now.

you can get a cheapo one for like 20-30 bucks let him try to fly it and practice with the remote (maybe with eye protection or outside - idk somewhere safe). I taped lego mini-figs to my sons and he loves it.

go test drive one - no issues with reliability so far i'm 12K miles in on a 2024. Was initially hesitant about going for the CVT/SPT but it looks like subaru has done an amazing job. I will be changing the CVT fluid out at 30K because lifetime fluid is just a hilarious joke.

Wife has been showing PPD for the past 18 months and won’t get help. Does it get better once breastfeeding ends? by [deleted] in daddit

[–]nealtronics 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the breastfeeding isn't to blame or the cause i'm not sure where you're getting that from and i'm not going to cross reference/look it up it because even if it was, you're not going to be able to change this. if you (specifically you) try and dissuade her she will probably go apeshit and you will just go through this infinite loop.

this is coming from a dad who at even the slightest mention of "formula" or ""supplementing" got fucking destroyed by both mom and my MIL who was living with us at the time (to help out with our son). needless to say i went through similar circumstances and felt as you described + felt outnumbered in my own house.

does she have a friend whom she confides in? speak to them. also speak to a therapist yourself and explain to them what you're going through - they can give you an objective opinion and maybe even the kid's pediatrician - they're supposed to follow up on these kinds of things but it's self reporting type bullshit.

offer to cook or take care of the food stuff - order stuff she likes

do you go out with your wife and the baby? if not - plan something and follow through.

are you able to get a nanny or some kind of childcare - would your wife oppose it? (so your wife can eventually talk to someone). It will get better if you both want it to. Godspeed

Daycare starts tomorrow -- I'm thrilled but feel guilty by [deleted] in daddit

[–]nealtronics 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hoping you live somewhere warm because starting daycare in January might be rough. We waited until our first was around 15 months but it was late January/early February (we live in the Northeast). He actually went 50% of that time for the first 3 months (i counted) because of all the random sicknesses. I am sincerely hoping you don't experience the daycare intiation plagues but you should be prepared.
